  1. I too have this fitted to my 03 model and also wondered why it was fitted:) Originally i thought it was for directing air to the fuel cooler but realised its on both sides:cool:
  2. If i get one of these KDC-W6541U by kenwood is there anything else i would need for a VRS fabia ? Ie Any other leads required or is it a straight forward swap. Thanks all
  3. crikey that brings memorys back of my 1986 D reg. Rapid 130 in yellow i had. Quite a quick car "relatively speaking" for an old skoda. mmmmm Wonder where it is now ??
  4. Thanks for all your help guys regarding this:thumbup: I will endeavor to change it at some point but i'm more happy driving the car at the moment to worry about fiddling
  5. Mate i did read it BUT as i say it blew the fuse and to my knowledge i didn't touch metal to metal:confused: I did contact the ebay seller but never got a response, hence refitted the original HU.
  6. Mate i did this and it promptly blew the fuse in the fuse box:confused: Then it took me another 10mins to figure out where the fuse box was:rofl: I have refitted the standard HU for now until i can find a suitable replacement:thumbup:
  7. ... Is there a way of disabling this permenantly ? IE with vag-com ? Or is it something that has to be dealer done. I only ask as i keep triggering the alarm at 06.15 every now and then , much to the digust of my neighbours
  8. I have been reading through some of the posts on here and people keep refering to a facelift on the fabia vrs. What exactly was changed on them then as my poor old eyesight cant see any difference except the rear light units:eek:
  9. I fitted a set of the "number plate" type ones and what a pain in the bum that was LOL. I will try and get a pic when it drys up a bit:( here we are, They only have two wires for the power and earth but there are two sensor wires that needed threading through various parts of trim etc to get to a control box in the boot area behind the rear light:thumbup:
  10. I would appreciate your thoughts on this please guys and girl's SKODA FABIA UPGRADE JVC KD-G632 USB/CD/MP3/WMA PLAYER on eBay, also, CD Headunits MP3 Players, In-Car Entertainment GPS, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Oct-08 13:58:38 BST)
  11. Oilman, Would the castrol "edge" Turbo diesel oil i have be ok for the vRS. now i am not thinking replacement just if i ever need to top up ? I plan to have it serviced at the required interval so its just as a backup really. Thanks
  12. My brakes on a 53 plate one are exactly as you describe but after driving it for a week or so i am getting used to it Thats on a car with 83k and full skoda history
  13. Mines silver, but i did actually try a yellow one and if the rear door had fitted (bodged repair my guess) properly i would have bought it. But i must admit if i had the money i would have a blue SE
  14. Hi guys, whilst having a nosey around the engine bay i noticed that i could see the orange surround of the air filter poking out the side opposite the screws. I removed the two screws and lifted the filter cover away and noted that it is a genuine filter, but is this correct or should the cover sit down over the filter to seal it properly. Also is it worth fitting a green panel filter( whatever that is LOL) to a standard VRS ?? Thanks
  15. As already stated you can use a G-clamp to "wind" the pistons back in or another way is to use a pair of circlip plier's with the 90 degree nose pins. This will take longer but it will work:thumbup:
  16. Ooooo Nipples i'm sure i can find that ok;)
  17. Hi, I recently have purchased a vrs fabia and when refueling the pump clicked off and so i put another couple of quid in thinking it was full and to my astonishment it wasn't. Now i have never owned a diesel before but am aware that it "froths" up a bit, so is there a fool proof method of refilling it so i get a full tank:)
  18. Ah right will have to see as my brother may have an iso lead to try out
  19. The turbo's on our company's fleet of Dennis refuse trucks are worked a hell of a lot in a day and as soon as your off the power the turbo gauge drops to minimum. After a day of our abuse they get switched off pretty much straight away and "touch wood" we haven't had one let go yet. Mind you we have had the turbo pipes split or blow off:eek:
  20. Ok will have a look and see thanks for the info:thumbup: If i revert back to the symphony HU which code do i use to re-code it? is it the one in the plastic key chain thing i got with the car as i have some stickers with another couple of numbers on it. This thing
  21. I have just fitted a set of pioneer TS-G1001i speakers from halfords £19.99 and they fit just right up under the rear side shelfs. I had to do a slight wiring modification but they work fine its just the head unit ive got problems with now:( sorry i dont know what the fronts are,
  22. Hi guys, Today i fitted a pioneer HU into the fabia with a dash surround from halfords. all went really easy and it worked fine, with a ISO lead i had from my previous felicia. Unfortunately after i switched it off the went back a few mins later the radio had lost all of its settings.:( Is it easier for me just to get an iso lead for it or is there another (cheaper) way of getting the permanent power to it. thanks in advance Simon
  23. Thanks for the reply mate i'll look into that:thumbup: would be great to know if anyones got either though
