  1. How ? ........ if I put car in mud, I'd have to put it somewhere that makes front wheels slip ..... but if Haldex working rear whels would drive anyway ..... or is there a way to turn off 4WD to get it stuck ? I I jack cae up off all 4 wheel then that would simulate slippage and if rear wheeel drive then that would prove Haldex ... but is that a relastic test.
  2. Be happy to do that, just not sure how without risking being stuck again. Plus if car moves out of mud (for example) how could I tell if rear wheel being driven or just rolling ? would need to be able to make front wheels spin without car moving
  3. It went in for Haldex service, they advise 4WD is now working. Not sure how I could test it without risk of bogging it down again.
  4. Yes … seen the vids, also the method to remove motors and wind back That was my Q, if this is done …is that enough, or do I have to push back piston as well.
  5. So far £79 for pads & discs £16 for screws £1.20 for grease £1.89 for triple square bit So £98.09. Less than 1/3rd of job in dealer I agree Labour is high, but when ‘skilled’ mechanics advise it’s less than 2 Hrs … it’s hard to accept £240+ for the Labour. I did contact 3 independents, 2 of which are VAG specialists for a quote …. 2 acknowledged, but never came back with a price, 3rd didn’t even reply. I service my boat trailer every year stripping brakes out, removing seals and bearings, replacing, repacking, adjusting as necessary. So working on car brakes be a change.
  6. Have now got full kit of parts to do the job 2 pairs of pads 2 discs 4 x M12 Calliper fixing bolts 2 x M6 torx disc screw Ceramic grease Handbrake (EPB) motor kit ( 2 x O ring 4 x screws) If anybody here has done the job ..... how easy was it to retract the pistons ? .... I will remove EPB motor & fully retract I need to retract piston, hoping to lever against disc ... but understand I need to rotate as the are pushed backwards - any tips ? ...... don't have retractor tool
  7. Great I had measured it right as M12 Triple Square XZN Thanks
  8. Have been getting all parts together Including the Calliper frame screws These are M12 but have a female splined head. 12 pointed star Anybody able to tell me what that is referred to as ? ..... so I can buy correct tool, assume I can get an appropriate 1/2" drive socket to suit ... once I know what the are called. Think I have it right as a 'Triple Square' .... its certainly not Torx
  9. Anybody who knows the Torque settings or where I can find them .... please let me know. My new discs & pads arrived today 🙂 so getting all together ready for the job.
  10. Thanks for that ... those diagrams are really useful. Would you know where I could find Torque settings for the pins(7) & fixing bolts (8) Does Skoda make such information available ? or anywhere else.
  11. Thanks for that ..... now I'm confused. Videos showed Caliper held on by 2 machine screws and Caliper fixed frame also held on by 2 machine screws That parts list https://tinyurl.com/yucy8rjx shows no such fixing screws for the Caliper assembly .... refers to unit as 'floating Caliper brake' Shows a guide pin & bush (item 7) ....anybody know what holds these pins into the Caliper Carrier ? ae they screwed in ? ..... maybe end of them has a hex or torx socket It does shows complete assembly is fitted to axle by bolts (item 8 ) but no part number listed. Anybody worked on these brakes ?
  12. I want to order a few items for rear brakes .... Can find sites that sell parts, but to identify the correct items really need a parts diagram/schematic ..... For example I go to skodaparts.com for Kodiaq it shows several bolts/screws, but without a diagram no way of telling which are the correct ones. Anybody know a resource for parts drawings on-line?
  13. I did also find a method to release Pads (EPB) without OBDELEVEN tool ...... anybody know if this is suitable method for Kodiaq ?
  14. Did some more digging ... and have answered my own Q (after tips here) .... you do need to have a diagnostic tool, which I don't have. Not worth investing in one for this one-off job, Well explained here So next step I suppose is see what price is from independent VAG specialists.
  15. In the comment above 'Billywizzo' mentions a tool to rotate pistons as they contract. In the video I posted in OP ... there seems no mention of this rotating .... anybody done the job and can comment from experience ? My car does have electric parking brake ...... so does that mean without an OBDELEVEN tool I cannot do the job ?
  16. Car was in dealer for separate issue … they reported pads down to 20% Their cost to change pads & discs is £340. Which seems high set of discs & pads is £85. Not changed discs in a while, this video looks like it’s all simple enough on Kodiaq, any comments ? seen quite a few parts sellers …such as this link, anybody recommend one ? https://www.onlineautomotive.co.uk/car-parts/Skoda/Kodiaq/2.0L/Petrol/NK/Brakes/Brake-Disc-and-Pad-Sets/DAP_NK3147160SET RS/1/735?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9ZeO0Oux8wIVmt_tCh2Mbga9EAQYASABEgKP_fD_BwE
  17. Car went in today for resolution. (Full Haldex service) Dealer advises Haldex was very dirty, and so was the oil. They have cleaned it fully, and replaced the oil and now advise all working OK.
  18. You are right I left off a digit .... should be 565 955 966A So far all on-line sites come in more expensive than my dealer (when you factor in postage)
  19. The headlamp washer flap came off .. obtained a new one ..... but found I can't fit it as the plastic peg it slips onto is snapped on one side. A new assembly is £38 which is very steep for a washer jet. Would like to source elsewhere if I can ... the part number is advised as 56595596A
  20. They did say there was note on their system that it was deferred ... but had not told me about that. I have only done 30,000 miles in 3 years
  21. OK ... Skoda dealer advise Haldex Service is NOT part of normal service schedule, and they recommend it is serviced every 3 years. So it has never been touched. I asked why wasn't mine done, they said it was not asked for, ..... how would I know to ask for it? Booked in for Haldex service in a weeks time.
  22. I’ll report back when they have investigated.
  23. No, there were no alarms, notifications, beeps etc. Interesting point that should traction control alarms be happening, or does that only become active above a certain speed. How did you know it had failed, were there error codes ?
