  1. SimonAudi, sure Skoda can change the spec anytime it likes...but when it has taken payment for something it has not provided...is that ok too? And on your second point...its not always about the money. Over and out
  2. Hi again Westie38, thanks for the update. Perhaps if I look hard for the box I might also find the compensation payment from Skoda that is owing to me 😉 I won't be holding my breath just yet though. Regards
  3. SimonAudi, thanks for responding. The reason given by Skoda at the time was 'Regrettably, due to technical and regulatory constraints, we are unable to provide this function at this moment in time.' I understand that although compliant in the EU, as a result of OFCOM changes introduced in the UK in April 2018, the system did not meet the new regulations, and was withdrawn from UK bound cars AND existing dealer stock almost immediately. Whether the issue was interference with public service vehicles, security of personal data transmission outside the vehicle, or just a general power/transmission issue I don't know...I have seen all three reasons given. Thanks again
  4. Hi westie38, thanks for responding. As a matter of interest, when did you take delivery of your car? And I am presuming it was new when you bought it? The reason I ask is that bulletin SKU0461-18 that I do have describes the process for stopping the sale of used car stock, and alludes to the removal of the feature from new factory deliveries. It clearly states that 'vehicles already delivered to customers and in-use must not have this work carried out - we'll provide more information shortly'. This referring to the removal of the antenna amplifier. It goes on to say that this should not stop the wireless charging function. Mine arrived without the antenna booster and wireless charging after having paid for it, and without any prior indication from the dealer of the change. The dealer is lying through their teeth in asserting that I was told at the time of order...which was 2 weeks before Skoda issued the bulletin. Hence my need for a copy of the document and/or its issue date. Thanks again.
  5. Hi, does anybody have a copy of, or access to Skoda dealer bulletin SK0437-18 from April 2018 reference the withdrawal of the phone box hub and wireless phone charger (PR option codes PT1/PT3/PT5/PT7) on Superb L&K, Karoq Edition and Kodiak Edition vehicles please? I have SKU0461-18 regarding the removal from used cars and the stop on the sales thereof, but the above document contains information 'regarding the technical solution and previously communicated registration block release process for new cars'. It is very important to me that I see this document, but if it is not available, the release date of SK0437-18 to the dealer network would be extremely useful. Skoda UK have refused to provide the document or any information relating to the content or date of issue. Thank you in advance to all you lovely Skoda folks at this site Best regards
  6. Hi, on my Order Detail form for a new Karoq, in the order characteristics box there are two items: I-SET UK_MASTER_I_SET, and X-SET UK_MASTER_X_SET I think it may be model options, but can anybody tell me to what they refer, and what might be in each set? Grateful for any enlightenment. Thank you.
  7. Silver 1011, I am of the same mind as you, but both Skoda UK and my weasly dealer are not. My spec was changed after the order was placed, and the car arrived without items listed in the spec at the time of order...and the price paid did not reflect the omissions of the parts...a brochure total of aroud £500. Skoda tell me that they 'do not price their cars based on the spec', but offered me £100 to spend within the dealer network...so a 'generous' offer worth an actual value to Skoda probably considerably less than £100. I rejected the offer, and having been bounced from the Skoda UK Managing Director's office back through the my lame Skoda Customer Care agent (or whatever), to my local dealer who has no concept of lifetime customer value, post-sales follow-up, or the content of the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which states that Products must be: Of satisfactory quality Fit for purpose, and As described ...mine does not meet the third requirement. I am now looking into whether the next step is through a legal channel or the Motor Ombudsman
  8. Hi, thanks for all the input, I already had the Aero but did not realise there were 3 different types of replacement rubber clamp inserts. If I can remember which version fit my Karoq I will get back here.
  9. Thank you very much for your encouraging reply. Remains to be seen how Skoda respond now that I have firmly rejected their kind offer
  10. Sorry to be a pest, but was your refund actual cash in your bank, and not a credit for spending in the Skoda network? Without giving too much information away if you don't want to, could you tell me where your dealer is...North East England, Wales, etc
  11. Thank you, that gives me a target to aim for. Appreciate your response.
  12. HI all, this topic has not be been aired for time...here is my experience. I first ordered an Edition back in March based on the February catalogue...which included the wireless charging/antenna booster as standard. The car was built in build week 21 and arrived in the UK on 31 May. On collection from the dealer I was told that the phone charging/antenna booster had been disconnected according to Skoda's instructions. There were further discussions around Skoda UK's dealer bulletin stating that the charging should still work, and that only the antenna booster was affected. The dealer then told me that neither the charger not the booster had been installed in my car. I accepted this...it is what is is...and Skoda have the right to change the spec of the car as they see fit. But as the price of the car has not changed since first order, Skoda have taken money from me for goods/services not supplied, and this is not ok. I asked my dealer and Skoda UK about recovering the cost, and after some time their collective answer can be summarised as 'hard luck'. When I pushed it, they agreed to offer me a derisory 'good faith' amount of just £100.00 to be spent within the Skoda network. This stacks against the listed option price (in the February price list) of £550.00 incl vat. I wonder what the delaer would have said had I ordered an SE or SEL and demanded the option for nothing or £100.00? They would certainly have been able to place a more realistic value on it then. Needless to say, I will not let this go and will pursue it through channels outside Skoda.
  13. Hi All, has anybody successfully fitted extension mirrors for towing a caravan? If yes, can you please let us know what make/model you used. Thank you
  14. I would be reminding your dealer of the expression 'lifetime customer value'. He may have your business this time round, but if he values you as a customer, he should be happy to give you the SLI number. Other dealers do it, Skoda UK Customer services use it for customer enquiry reference purposes, so there is no reason for your dealer not to share it with you...or perhaps he has something to hide? Perhaps the time has come for us to share and rate dealers? I am not sure if it is allowed here, or already done elsewhere on this site. A good reputation can be hard to keep, but is very easily lost.
  15. Had the call from my Case Manager at Skoda UK today (as promised 7 days ago). My dealer has apparently booked transport for the car next Thursday (14 June) for pick up from the pound at Sheerness. Has my dealer contacted me yet? The hell they have! Not since the car was 'Status 10 - Factory Ordered – Production Week Unconfirmed.' It is pathetic. I imagine the dealer thinks I will be surprised and delighted when they ring to tell me 'Hey good news! We have your car here...what great guys we are.' I really am not looking forward at all to going to their place, spending time with them, going through the paperwork...and worst of all, giving them money for doing nothing. My Case Manager will ring me at 10.00 next Friday to update me. Thank goodness for her.
  16. Skoda UK Customer Services can give you the name of the ship which will carry your car. You can then track the ship's movements on a site like https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:0.812/centery:51.452/zoom:12 It seems to me that fully laden ships are leaving Emden on a daily basis bound for a UK port. The ships seem to have names xxxxxxxx Highway, for example my car was on Thames Highway which docked in Sheerness last Thursday after an overnight trip from Emden. Interestingly the Macassa Highway left Sheerness to 'make way' for Thames Highway. Get the name of the allocated boat and either look at Emden departures and/or the ship itself to find out its current position and schedule. I am given to understand that vehicles can take 7 - 10 days to process through port of arrival and transition to the dealer...then it is up to them...24 - 48 hours seems to be typical. I am hoping to hear tomorrow of a status update indicating that my car has left Sheerness and is on the way to the dealer. None of the information above has come from my dealer whose communication and customer service has been pitiful since the order was placed. Good luck with your car!
  17. Hi, I will offer a short reply with my experience: According to information provided by Skoda UK, my 2.0 TDI DSG Edition was built and left the factory for Emden within one week. That was Build Week 21. The car is in Sheerness now waiting allocation of transport to the dealer. The time frame from now is a little less certain. I guess deliveries are consolidated by region for maximum load capacity of transport, pretty much the way pallets 'hitch rides' on various operator's trucks for economies of scale. Get somebody at your dealer to give you an SLI number, then contact Skoda UK Customer Service either by phone or Live Chat. I have found them to be extremely helpful, and will tell you the latest status as they know it. That's all, hope it helps, good luck!

    ad BLU

I have been running a Citroen diesel for quite a few years...and being Citroen they don't use Adblue,. They have their own proprietary system which the owner cannot service because the car needs to be attached to a computer to reset the engine management...or something like that. Puzzling, because in 10 years I have not seen any 'additive low' notification, but have regularly been topped-up. The cost of this was in excess of £140.00 each time. I am looking forward to taking delivery of my 2.0 TDI DSG Karoq at £10.00 per Adblue fix.
  19. Thanks guys, what you say sounds consistent with what Skoda UK have said - typically 7-10 days at the docks, 24-48 hours to collect and deliver to the dealer, and 24-48 hours for the dealer to turn the vehicle around and do the admin. So far my dealer has been less than dynamic, but with the smell of money in their nostrils, they move out of 1st gear. Credit where it is due, I have nothing but praise for Skoda UK Customer Services who have been both receptive and informative throughout the order/build/transport process.
  20. I understand that my car is/was on the Thames Highway which docked at Sheerness at 12.21 today. First, I will say that Skoda Live Chat have been wrong before, so it may be on the next boat...or the next...etc I have no idea how long it will take to get from Sheerness to the dealer. What have others seen in terms of docking and delivery interval time?

I still have not heard from my dealer that the car has been given a confirmed build week, so heaven only knows when I will get to hear anything...I am thinking it will be when they want money.
  22. Does anybody have any experience of alloy wheel protectors like RimBlades (other products are available)?
  23. Reference this week 21 build hold up and the possible 3+ week delay, I spoke to Skoda just now about factory summer closure. I was told that the factory will close for the month of July. When I asked how that might affect my car in mid-production, I was told they will 'assign a Customer Relations Manager who will investigate this matter for you'. I look forward to hearing back within the promised 2 working days. If I read the runes correctly, I think I may also hear from my dealer too...which would be a rare treat indeed. (Apologies, I don't know how I got two emails attached)
  24. Although it is not what I wanted to hear, thanks for the heads-up on typical seat frame delay. Like me, I imagine all people in this forum want (apart from delivery) is facts/the actual truth from Skoda...then we can better manage other factors affecting each of us personally around the new car delivery...like work, holidays, existing cars etc.
