  1. The oil leak is at the front of the engine, possibly the sensor as it's a very small leak. Two part worn tyres are £60 and they are nearly new, it's not worth putting new tyres on now as I do low mileage in a year.
  2. I've had the exhaust advisory on the last 3 mot's but the inner case is fine so I just ignore that one. There was plenty of tread on the tyres still, but that's not included as I get my tyres done somewhere else.
  3. The car just passed it's MOT by the skin of it's teeth. I've been quoted with parts and labour nearly £800, that's not including the exhaust or tyres. I had the front tyres replaced, and it's only outer part of the silencer that's corroded. The front tyres lasted well as I had them put on 12 years ago when I first got the car.
  4. I know the blokes at Fakenham tyres just 20 minutes down the road would do that for me, they are a good bunch there. They were the ones who welded a new flexi pipe onto my cat to save me money.
  5. They are pretty good at that garage. It's worth the 45 minutes drive to go there. They don't charge you for the use of the car you have, you just have put your own fuel in it.
  6. Got my car back 😊 bill wasn't as much as I thought it would be.
  7. Thanks for that sepulchrave, that's even better.
  8. They only knew what I told them had happened on the phone. I was going along & had a loud bang & something came off the car & hit the road, then when I was going uneven/bumpy road I was getting a knocking noise which seemed to be at the back & sometimes seemed to go along the whole of the passenger side. Because the garage is about 45 mins from where I live they only got a chance to look at the car late Tuesday afternoon.
  9. Hopefully it not going to cost as much as I thought then.
  10. It must be the front then. The mechanic said he wasn't happy with the thread on the drive shaft when he had it off to do the spring so he decided to replace it. I don't really know much about the drive shafts apart from cv joints and bushes.
  11. Has anyone any ideas on how much to replace the suspension spring and drive shaft on the rear passenger side
  12. He couldn't see exactly where the leak was coming from, but he said it was definitely at the front, he said if the seal has gone there is a thin wire that goes into the sensor and the oil tends to run down that wire and drip off it.
  13. I've had the car for 8 years and not had them done. She's doing pretty well for an old gal😆.
  14. The car passed it's mot with some advisories. I have had the exhaust on the last three, it's only the outer skin on the silencer. He said the oil leak is most likely where the oil pressure sensor is the seal probably just needs replacing. The bushes will need doing before next mot. They're ringing me back later with a price for the bushes and oil leak to be done.
  15. No I have cleared today and took it for a run and it hasn't come back on so far.
  16. The same was on page 2.
  17. I have cleared the fault for now and wait to see if it comes back on. I have the MOT tomorrow morning so need to clear it for that.
  18. The car is running perfectly fine and the engine management light only came on after the flexi before the cat started blowing.
  19. So this is the error code the scanner showed. Is this to do with when my flexi blowing, which has now been sorted.
  20. Car exhaust was done this morning, cost me £48 as opposed to £220 - £240 so saved me alot of money 🙂
  21. I know how many people have fallen for that and got new tyres when they didn't need them just to get money out of them. There are a lot of elderly people who have retired here is this area who probably have. I certainly won't be going back there again. I will stick to going to Fakenham area where I have always gone.
  22. i haven't been out for a drink since summertime last year. i did have about two and a half bottles of wine over the xmas/ new year, but haven't one since. i have a very low alcohol tolerance these days, two pints of lager is about my limit nowadays.😄
  23. i just went into one locally just to see what part of the exhaust was blowing and just curious on what they would quote me, being Holt in north norfolk,i wasn't expecting it to be cheap. But i couldn't believe it when he said i needed 4 new tyres, so i replied my car has passed all it's MOT'S with the tyres on due to the tread being legal and they haven't perished.
  24. Thanks nta16, yes it's a case of giving you an idea of what and where to look for a problem. At least I can clear the codes after the problem is sorted as you say. Yeah I must say they are a good bunch of blokes who work there.
  25. The best bit was after telling me about my exhaust, the bloke then told me I need 4 new tyres as the ones on the car are over 5 years old. I don't think so.
