1.4 TSI 110KW 150HP CHPB;CZDA (2017) PCV valve replacement part identification assistance
Thanks Ed; apologies for the delay. No such issues for me as yet, but this topic (PCV valve replacement) has been talked about elsewhere as preventative measure on cars of a certain age, so my interest was piqued when I realised you had the same engine (not all PCV valves are made equal, it would seem!). Thank you for the diagram, I was sent a similar one from my local Skoda parts department when making enquires. And also for the additional information and details. I do wonder whether I should bother with the preventative maintenance right now, given the cost could be £200+ all-in. Good work on getting it all sorted in the end, in spite of the cost. It sounds like the saga I had with trying to get my steering wheel straight (a long story about how these wheel alignment machines don't have the correct specs for my particular vehicle, but insist that they do!).

@wiilydog is that the breather valve (as mentioned further up the chain) you're referring to?

1.4 TSI 110KW 150HP CHPB;CZDA (2017) PCV valve replacement part identification assistance
I'm with you @EdHilton , I'm completely clueless when it comes to such mystical mechanical shenanigans, much to my embarrassment, so I'm very grateful for all the contributors on here helping the likes of us out, and that's you included now, thank you :) I have the part numbers I need now! May I ask how much the work cost to carry out please? The part seems to be in a tricky location.

@EdHilton how did you get on with this in the end? What part or parts (e.g. is the cover required) did you need to successfully replace your PCV valve?

Choosing a spare wheel advice needed
Thank you again for all your help and support with this @Carlston , it is very much appreciated.

Choosing a spare wheel advice needed
Thank you @Carlston :) I take onboard everything you say and am grateful for all the detail and additional information and considerations. With regards to the specific eBay listing, and putting the tyre choice to one side (the company can change it as desired) for a moment, would the wheel itself and tyre size etc. be a good fit for my car driving wise and for storage in the wheel well, including consideration for the floor level?

Choosing a spare wheel advice needed
@Carlston Firstly, thank you for contributing to this thread with invaluable information. It was remiss of me not to express my gratitude at the time, I apologise. Time flies, and I need to re-visit this. If I have understood correctly, I plan to purchase the following: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/364188522719 . Is this suitable? From what you say, it seems it will fit the wheel well and not cause the floor to lift, is that correct? All things considered (especially diameter), would you say this option is a better bet than a "205/65R16 on the standard 6.5Jx16 ET41 5/112 57.1 rim specification", as you also suggest above? I appreciate I may seem overly nervous and fussy, but I am lacking confidence and want to ensure I do the right thing (and also not waste money!).

1.4 TSI (150bhp) Modifications / Improvements
@OccyVRS That is very kind of you, thank you, but you're not really selling it to me! 😅 I've been considering this one (or a seemingly identical cheaper version from Creations Motorsport): https://progressiveparts.com/product/vagsport-lower-dogbone-insert-mount-mqb-ea888-gen3-gen4-evo?k=112398-2017 I think the Version 1 should my vehicle, as the photo matches up. What do you think?

@OccyVRS This is on my list to do.

Petrol Manual Acceleration Failure (Limp mode?)
@defsix Of course, all the way up to ~70mph. The speed limiter is not set on my vehicle.

Petrol Manual Acceleration Failure (Limp mode?)
Oh man, that doesn't sound good @Gammyleg ! It seems to be speed related. The safety aspect really concerns me.

Lowering
@MartiniB Ok, so with your spreadsheet in mind, 11-85-042-03-FA may lower my car by 15-20mm on the front end, and 11-85-041-01-VA may lower it further, perhaps 25-30mm? You mentioned above that you can suggest rear springs, which would they be? Given these springs aren't specifically for my vehicle, will they likely make the ride firmer, as presumably they are designed for heavier vehicles?
-
Lowering
Thank you @MartiniB The options in red appear to be shorter in length according to your table, so surely they will lower my car the most? Perhaps I have misunderstood what length means in this context.

Petrol Manual Acceleration Failure (Limp mode?)
Thank you for the suggestion @numskull :) I'm currently code free, according to my OBD11 device.

Resonator delete?
Do you have a VRS or are you trying this on a different engine @crc77?
-
Petrol Manual Acceleration Failure (Limp mode?)
It's a fair shout @Gammyleg , and wish it were the case, but I have ACC deactivated.
-
Resonator delete?
Did you find it hard to find a willing mechanic to fit it? The best price I've had is £150 for a straight section fitted, but I'm after one with anti-drone, which is coming in at £200.
-
Lowering
@MartiniB We're getting closer! 😄 So that code is for just one spring, would I need the same for the front and back? The kit that includes the part you have listed is E10-79-008-01-22, which also includes F11-85-012-03-VA. This kit claims to lower the compatible vehicle (Yeti) by 30-35mm, so how does it only lower my vehicle by 10-15mm? Please excuse my ignorance, I really don't know anything about the mechanics of these things, but I imagine I'll understand the concept once informed appropriately.
-
Resonator delete?
Ah, so you went for the straight pipe, and aren't experiencing any notable drone, that's good! What engine do you have (not assuming a VRS, just in case)?
-
Resonator delete?
@major-eyeswater Did you go for the RPM pipe listed above? Have you noted any discernible performance or economy implication, good or bad?
-
Resonator delete?
@PetrolDave & @crc77 Did either of your tale the plunge?
-
Lowering
@MartiniB Thank you for your reply. I'm not the sharpest tool in the box, so can you help clarify whether it actually helps with my desire to only lower my car by 20mm (max 25mm)? Lowering springs specifically for my vehicle all want to lower it by 30-35mm, which is too much. I was wondering whether I could employ shorter (?) springs designed for a different variant or even model (maybe one that sits lower out of the factory e.g. maybe a SportLine model?) so as to achieve my desired look.

Res Delete on 2018 Skoda Superb (2.0 Petrol)
@OccyVRS Mine is a 67 plate, so mine is GP-free, it would seem. Ok, I think I've got it now. I have a resonator, muffler and back box. I think I'm probably going to try and find a resonator delete with anti-drone for a reasonable price. Most quotes are coming in around £200, but few are able to include the anti-drone feature, which is disappointing, especially at this price. Perhaps there's an off-the-shelf solution that would fit my car (but not specifically listed as being compatible, because I'm come across none thus far) that I could try and find a local mechanic to fit.

Petrol Manual Acceleration Failure (Limp mode?)
I have a '67 plate 1.4TSI manual Superb, and twice now I have experienced a concerning acceleration failure. One such event took place whilst overtaking on a regular single carriageway. My recall capabilities are not good, but I think I was in 5th gear on both occasions doing around 40-45mph, and dropped to 3rd to overtake on the aforementioned occasion, whereby I depressed the accelerator firmly and whilst the care initially accelerated briefly it quickly ceased accelerating and would not increase even if I pressed down further to the kick-down, or released and depressed again. Ultimately I had to abandon the manoeuvre and pull back in. On the second occasion I was on a dual carriageway, and only dropped to 4th as the need to accelerate hard was not required, but again, the car briefly accelerated and then stopped and maintained around 50mph. I can't be sure what resolved the issue other than slowing, changing down, accelerating and changing back up. I tried accelerating again on both occasions to recreate the failure, but I could not. I also tried again subsequently under safe clear conditions, but was again was unable to do so. Can anyone help me out with what might be going on and whether this is a significant cause for concern? I would go to my dealer, but being polite, I really don't want to waste anymore time with them.

Res Delete on 2018 Skoda Superb (2.0 Petrol)
I'm so confused @OccyVRS , I thought the boxy thing is my resonator, as it's similar to others I've seen removed on VAG cars. It's not my back box, that's out of shot and has the tail pipe popping out of it. Am I correct in thinking that my car does have a GPF? Is there any way to double check based on its model year or VIN etc?
