Michelin cross climate tyres
If I were fitting all-seasons, I would go for the Goodyears. https://www.tyrereviews.co.uk/Article/2020-Tyre-Reviews-All-Season-Tyre-Test.htm

Suggestions for rough surface and windy roads
Here's a typical stretch of the A836 near me. https://goo.gl/maps/eRkbkjaR2GGCezGv7 The centre of the road is good and you can drive at 60mph, but as the Landy shows, it's not wide enough to pass safely. If you get off the tarmac at 50mph or so it does the tyres no good! There are loggers lorries on this road too. Also construction vehicles and big RVs.

understeer is when you lose traction at the front.

Very likely. She does swerve onto the verge quite often for oncoming traffic and tail-gaters. And it was a nearside tyre. I can't find Michelin Latitudes in a 225/50r17 size, so I am going to go for runflats, which have a reinforced sidewall. At least my wife could drive home or to a garage if she gets a flat. AA/RAC are OK but they might take hours to get to the north highlands. My friendly local garage will be much quicker. I can't find any Latitudes in my size, so I'm looking at Bridgestone Turanza T005 DriveGuard tyres. But I am very grateful for all the advice above. Runflats require a good TPMS which I have - TyrePal. If I win the lottery I will fit all-season runflats such as Cross Climate + Zero Pressure. Goodyear dont seem to make a runflat all-season tyre.

Heavy condensation on inside of windows
I suspect that, even if you switch the AC on, it only runs as required. ie when it is hot, humid or both. And when you press 'max demist'. As I don't know the answer, I tend to switch it off when it is cold with low humidity, as I hate that itchy scalp feeling in arid conditions.

hardly helpful! what do you guesstimate is the problem? The OP has come here for advice - be kind!

During the floods, did you drive through water six inches deep? If you leave a heavy weight on the carpets, does water appear? I suspect you have a lot of water under the carpet, maybe in the rear.

Yes! Her tyre was damaged just north of Talmine. We have some bone-jarring potholes. This is the exact spot https://w3w.co/pencils.encroach.fewer From which, I was able to tell a garage where to find her. He collected the wheel, went back to Tongue and fitted a new tyre there - lucky he had one the right size. Then he drove back to fit it. Said he's keps busy doing punctures! WhatThreeWords is a very useful app!

I never saw the damage as my wife was using the car. I don't know where the damage was but possibly on the inside sidewall. She did not here a 'hit' just came back to a flat after walking the dog.

Thanks e-Roottoot. I've polished me specs but those photos still look blurry - it's either my whisky or you old phone Are latitudes good for harsh tarmac? Car does not go off road except when the missus sees an oncoming car.

Proper tarmac, but A-roads round here are single-track with passing places and poorly maintained. Our drive is sharp gravel and we need to do a three-point turn every time to face out. SWMBO does corner rather briskly! Why is Latitude reccomended by two of you? Thanks!

Newbie
Welcome! I see you have already posted a good 'signature' so everyone knows what car you have. Are you a new driver or new to Skoda? I had a Fabia and then a Yeti. I think Skoda have very talented designers. I used a lot of taxis to/from the airport and Skodas were always better than Mercedes!

I'm running the tyres at the reccomended pressures and have a TPMS to monitor each tyre.

Suggestions for rough surface and windy roads
What tyres should I fit? Where I live the roads are in poor condition and windy. I'm only getting 12,000 miles on my Goodyear EfficientGrip. One front tyre had to be changed recently after a torn sidewall and the garage only had an Avon ZV7. I can't fit all-seasons or winter tyres as I only plan to change the rears as they are now end-of-llife, This review puts me off fitting Avons https://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/104042/avon-zv7-review My wife does most of the driving; What's most important to me is her safety so I would look at wet and dry braking.

All Weather tyres and Summer tyres
You did not read my post carefully. I'm on about the SIZE designation 225/40YR18. I asked why this number has a Y in the middle. The previous explanation covered a Z.

Even more interesting are the fuel efficiency labels; one is 'C' and one is 'E' - how is that possible? Oponeo confirms the labels for MO and AO1 Why does F1 Autocentre put a 'Y' in the tyre designation?- All Weather tyres and Summer tyres
You forgot the ContiSportContact 6- Retrofit heated screenwash jets?
Thanks Wino! I have ordered two from eBay. Do you know how the sound deadening is attached to the bonnet? Clips or glue?- Retrofit heated screenwash jets?
I wonder if it will fit as my car is 2017? But thanks for this.- Retrofit heated screenwash jets?
I once had a Fiat 128 (?) saloon that was prone to carb icing. It always happened driving up from the Midlands to Glasgow around Christmas and on a cold, sunny day. The engine steadily lost power until I had to pull over. After a few minutes it would be fine. I guess the heat of the engine melted the ice as soon as the cold, dry airflow was stopped. I was able to redirect the air-filter inlet so it drew air from just above the exhaust manifold. The air filter had two positions - summer and winter. Repeating a post from 2-years ago, the nozzles are affected by wind chill if the roads are wet and the weather is just wrong ( low air temp combined with low humidity). My worst experience was driving past Loch Lomond on heavily-salted roads and it was horrendous with frozen jets. The rear screen wash was not affected so I know it was not the fluid being too low a concentration.- Retrofit heated screenwash jets?
I just want it to be on or off. I believe the supply is a 0.5mm2 cable so the nozzle heater must be a low wattage. It would be on when the air was dry and cold, which is when wind chill can cause a wet nozzle to freeze. I have one arriving soon and will measure the current draw when connected to a 13V supply.- Retrofit heated screenwash jets?
I've ordered heated jets and plan to wire them via a fuse and manual switch. Can anyone tell me where to source the plug for the wiring? I mean the end of the wiring loom that would connect to the socket on the jet's electrical connector. Does the plug have a maker/name? Thanks.- MySkoda support ends 10th December
I got this message on the app today. But it appears they will merge Connect and MySkoda and launch a new app called......wait for it MySkoda!!!!!- All Weather tyres and Summer tyres
I did spend quite a long time researching your two tyre types. The EU labels give the Contis a fuel efficiency rating of 'E' but the Yokohamas are worse at 'F'. In theory, they would decrease your mpg by about 1.5%. Yokohama V905 rolling resistance is 9.43 kg/tonne (not quite the same as your V902A) I'm still looking for the Conti figure. Both tyres have a noise rating of 72dB. - All Weather tyres and Summer tyres
