Depreciation 13% over five years
My beloved Yeti was totalled by a driver coming out of a side turning. The Yeti rolled three times, ending up on its roof. Luckily, my wife escaped with only cuts and bruises and the other driver has admitted fault; the police will prosecute. I bought the Yeti as an ex demonstrator with 2,000 miles on the clock for £19,450 in January 2018. The insurers offered £16,929 this week (September 2022) so that is only a drop of 13%! It was a L&K 2.0 DSG automatic with only 36,000 miles. But I was chuffed with the payout. Treasure your Yeti!

Copy Amundsen Satnav Skoda 16Gb SD card to 32Gb
We are lucky that Skoda offers the updates at zero cost. Other brands often don't. It is my decision not to support China when it does not respect IP rights. You are undermining legit companies.

I am still using the 16Gb card with the recent update. I have Wester Europe's map. I would not support copyright infringement..

Fair enough. What is "dame" in your post?

THE Winter Tyres Thread
But smaller wheels will drop more into potholes. For a smooth ride over potholes the larger the diameter, the better. Riding a bicycle with small wheels should convince you of this fact - bikes like the Moulton are OK on smooth tarmac.....

Any Smart Home nerds here?
I have Lifx bulbs and Homematic IP TRVs and wall thermostats. Homematic is German and very good. I have a small fortune in Sonos speakers. I'm currently playing with Alexa and an Echo Dot but only because I got one for £4. I have an Efergy energy monitoe which is good. Having separate schedules for each radiator is very handy and I can give the bathroom a boost before my shower. All in all I have about 32 devices on the two home networks.

The Security ID on the card has been hacked. This is how eBay sellers are able to flog cards that work.

Keys locked in car
My nearest key cutter is in Dingwall, 65 miles away and over two hours' drive, But when I next go I will get a spare key and put it in the lining of the wife's handbag,

Keys locked in car
Did they just give you a blade or does it look like a normal car key? My local Timpsons warned me never to put it in the ignition - it could knacker the whole system.

Keys locked in car
Will you buy a spare key? £11 at Timpsons.

Michelin cross climate tyres
I do not want to get into a squabble.. If the roads here are deep in snow I can just wait. I don't think it is ever a good idea to fit better grip tyres on the front. It's a terrible idea to mix summer and winter tyres front and rear.

Suggestions for rough surface and windy roads
I went with Bridgestone Turanza DriveGuards (run flats) in the end because the local guy could get them fairly quickly. She says the car drives better but I did not notice any change. But she does hurtle round corners as dog is thrown from side to side. If these wear well I will fit them to the front eventually but those are both new.

The tyres with the better grip should be on the rear as drivers are better able to handle understeer than oversteer.

Window switch reversed....
Has some 'orrible sprog turned the switch upside down? Have you clicked on "CLEAR FAULTS"?

Keys locked in car
Timpsons, the shoe people will cut a spare key blade for £11 which you could keep in yourwallet/handbag. But they warn that if you try and use this in the ignition you might not be able to start the car after that even with the original key. He was not sure if all makes of car were affected. Does anyone know? I hope you are right! But now you have a car that can't be driven legally and will attract attention from any copper. Do you have a scap yard nearby or will you order one from eBay?

please email [email protected] and vent you feelings on the new app. Thanks

MySkoda support ends 10th December
The 'old' app used Bluetooth to communicate with my phone and the phone used its wifi or cell signal to communicate with Skoda servers. It worked perfectly without Smartlink.
-
MySkoda support ends 10th December
Has anyone without Smarlink got the new app working? It needs Smartlink to ACTIVATE the MySkoda app.
-
MySkoda support ends 10th December
When I run MySkoda it mentions Smartlink after adding a vehicle. There are no options for any useful info - nothing.

MySkoda support ends 10th December
MySkoda stoped working so I uninstalled it and installed the new app. But I don't have Smartlink and now the app is useless. Please, everyone, contact Skoda and complain.

Close the window, release switch then hold it in closed position for about five seconds. This is the normal reset.

Keys locked in car
I really feel for you. Try AA Greenline and a few more. I hope you get a bit of luck. It cost me forty quid to get a taxi and go 25 miles to my wife and unlock it with my keys.

Keys locked in car
You will have to figure out your cheapest option. Smash glass or call AA. Can you wait til Monday and contact a garage? It's a good lesson learnt - never buy a car without two sets of keys. Most cars are sold with two sets. Who has the other one ????
