Burning Oil
And yet (mistakenly) this is what so many manufacturers (to appease fleet buyers) use for servicing. Not a problem for the first owner, numerous problems later though.

Problem with SOS call
It's a built in characteristic and happens 4-5 times a day with mine. That and numerous other problems. Loading Settings sometimes resolves itself but you can also pull fuse 25 from behind the glovebox. As for tips, make sure when you leave home you have warm clothes and funds to find an alternative way to get home. If you've just bought it, reject it and preserve your consumer rights when the dealer fails to resolve the issues they will promise to but fail because Skoda have no solution. Not their fault but look after your interests.

Not on steep or variable inclines/descents.

Anyone gone for the new colour?
For years Skoda have had one of the worst exterior colour choices possible. To balance that they've had some great interior options and as that's the only thing I used to see in my (now departed) Superb that was great. Now back to boring black.

Octavia RS IV - Shudder
I have this along with numerous other issues including the car virtually stalling when accelerating along with increasingly clunky gear changes, delayed up changes and today a gearbox warning message. Every day's an adventure which I pack an emergency kit for when (not if) it fails. Can't blame the dealers for Skoda's inability to provide them with software solutions.

ACC Braking when overtaking
As I've mentioned elsewhere the defective software in these cars will end up in a fatality.

ACC Braking when overtaking
It's NOT a problem across the VAG range.

Replacement Alloys
I wish mine has 16" wheels instead of the 18"s it's currently on. Our roads are crap and I can't see what they look like when I'm driving. I had Volvo S60 Business Edition with 16"s my daughter now drives, its jus so much smoother.

No Cruise Control after software upgrade
Windows 95 was more reliable than the rubbish software in our cars. I've just lost the entire infotainment system for the second time in 4000 miles. Every day (literally) mine suffers multiple issues.

Seatbelt pre-tensioner activated
Skoda's rotten software is going to end up killing someone.

Can I turn the nags off?
I don't find it subtle at all. On motorways I will give LHD HGVs a little extra room as I pass but as the lane assist doesn't realise this intervenes. The same is true when avoiding a pot hole or piece of debris spotted well ahead that I want to pass by/over using the minimum of steering inputs. If on the other hand I'm inputting a postcode (I know I shouldn't when driving) it seems entirely ineffective at keeping the vehicle stable. On winding B roads it's even worse, one section of road I drive has a series of 90 bends and is used by all classes of HGV. It makes sense to be wide on the right hand turns and tight on the LH ones but again the car intervenes and tries ,aggresively, to pull you off course. On other roads with more open turns however it seems entirely ineffective. In short, when you use it, you never know what it's going to do if left switched on. My startup procedure now consists of. 1. Start. 2. Alter mode setting so the battery charges. (That is until fuel supply returns to normal) 3. Switch off lane keep assist. 4. Switch off brake hold as I manoeuvre off my tight drive, then switch back on once underway. 5. Select sport mode to improve regenerative braking. As I make multiple visits to sites each day the additional steps (except brake hold) have to be selected with each start.

Sat Nav memory
It's not just the Arla dairy, it seems so be a number of postcodes in that area. In 2021 this shouldn't be happening and if my 2016 Superb was able to navigate to Arla there's no reason my 2021 Octavia shouldn't but hey, at least two days ago it was working, now the entire infotainment system refuses to work.

Sat Nav memory
Its failings are obvious and need no insight. Every previous system provide grid coordinates when asked in order to provide your exact location if assistance is required, not by default.

Extended Warranty Renewal
Personally I don't care what you do with your car or your little toys, I'm just offering advice that remaps can be seen with diagnostic equipment and would invalidate much of the warranty cover.
-
Extended Warranty Renewal
Then as I suggested maintain the warranty and don't have it remapped.
-
Extended Warranty Renewal
Change the car for a new one or carry on with the existing warranty. Remaps get boring and are easily detectable so best to leave as is or get a weekend play car.

Canton Sound System Upgrade
Lucky all this equipment is so cheap now.

Can I turn the nags off?
My 70 plate temporary Corolla hybrid allowed me to turn lane keep assist off. Horrible car but even with it working it still wasn't as aggressive and intrusive as that on my new Octavia. No one who's passed the Institute of Advanced Motorists can drive the Skoda effectively with it switched on. As soon as I start I now instinctively make the three button presses required to disable it on every trip.

Rear suspension fitting
I have 18" wheels on mine and it spoils the car. Why can't car manufacturer's understand our roads are crap?

Brake Discs and Wheel Bearings
Some people (guess who) are quick to condemn and think they know everything. As I said from the outset, this was always going to be covered.

Canton Sound System Upgrade
It's not so much the speaker but the enclosure. Don't assume anything from Hungary is "****ty".

Stone chips
Oddly enough my Octavia only came with one width option. 🤣

Stone chips
It's odd how countries vary. I spend much of my time working in the far east and there seems to be some unwritten law that the occupants on a parked car have to open them with full force to hit the car next to them. Another one is to turn the car onto the roof every time a tyre blows out with bonus points for killing the occupants.

Stone chips
I try and shop at stores with proper sized parking spaces like many branches of Lidl, Aldi and all Costco.
