I do roughly the same kind of drive as yourself, i was in a 1.4 tsi 150 bhp, averaged 45 mpg. Really good drive, dont discount it.

Probably 200 miles difference but Tesco have done that to me with receipts. FWIW

Bet you got same as issue as me, i am sure my issue is the shock absorbers, posted on here few week back. Had car in garage to replace and they couldnt do as the bearing at the top was seized on and they wouldnt carry on without my confirming ok to replace shocks and bearings. So imo the noise i am hearing is the bearing shot and seized, which maybe what your hearing. Will confirm in a 2 of weeks when take car back in. Thanks

Morning, had an issue with 14 plate 1.4 for around a year now. Started off with really loud road noise, which was more noticable on way from work after car had been parked in sun most of day. Journey home is 40 miles of mway at 70 mph. In the morning into work took different route unless i was late and drove @60 mph and didnt really notice the noise. So whilst driving home car would wobble, bit like a new born horse or giraffe would when standing, no vibrations through steering wheel. It would drive like a windy day every day as if being blown about. Winter time cos of different conditions never noticed much i dont think. But now soon as the warm weather returns car all over again. last year garage couldnt find anything at same time had all 4 tyres changed they needed changing anyway. At mot in April they put advisory of wet/seeping on shocks or suspension will have to double check, so i am waiting on aprice for shocks but before i get em done just after opinion what you people think is wrong. when i asked my garage to look at id took a right hand turning and car lost a lot of control, like it had slipped on oil/ice , it was warm and sunny evening. im useless at explaining so hope you understand what going on

Mine does something similar, though i put it down to wet weather.
