  1. In electronic parlance perhaps the clockspring would just be called a ribbon cable!
  2. Many thanks for your most comprehensive explanation, another thing to fail! I prefer the old and uncomfortable with static controls on the dash ,no bells and whistles but cheap and straightforward to maintain.
  3. To the uninitiated what is the function of a clock spring in the steering column.? Thanks.
  4. Routemaster you misunderstood my last post. Nobody with any sense would switch on the heater in any car until the coolant is up to temperature but then you do expect heat to transfer immediately to the cabin unless of course you happen to have a 1.5 SEL Karoq. www,bertram-hill.com
  5. The problem is the inertia in the heating system whereas with most cars the heat is almost instant in the Karoq by the time it has reached its intended temperature the journey is over! If it ever gets there. Even my old series Land riover has a heater that I prefer.
  6. The heating in our 2018 SEl Karok is poor by far the worst performing system we have experienced in any car. I can live with it but the better half always complains that it is not hot enough and her legs are cold. Compared to her quite old Hyundai i10 the Karok acheives no where near the same heat output. There have been complaints about the poor heater on other posts on here some time ago.
  7. All rear tyres about 8mm tread depth so doI not think it is caused by wear. My car droned from new!
  8. My manual 1.5 SEL Karaoq also drones on some road surfaces I Assumed it was the tyres as the frequency varies with road surface. It occurs both with Bridgestone Turanza's ( Summer tyres) and Kumho (winter tyres).
  9. I doubt it as normally many buyers wait for the new registration and being just after Xmas jan/ feb tend to be poor sales months for dealers and they offer incentives to try and meet their sales quotas. I have always found that Jan-feb are the best times to buy , you can generally push dealears to give a few extras on top of their best offer.
  10. While on a 50 mile trip today the sat nav started OK but then went haywire after about 6 miles. It is seeing the data base but appears not to be recieving the GPS signal. Perhaps the GPS receiver is faulty or the aerial. Is the plastic aerial on the roof the GPS aerial I believe sometimes they are embedded.in a door window like a heated screen. Has anyone experienced anything similar. I have the Skoda extended guarantee but not sure if this includes Satnav.
  11. Rooted table of service charges only apply if the dealer agrees to belong to the Skoda scheme. It is not mandatory. The Skoda main dealer in Carlisle opts out and charges more for servicing as they claim it would not be profitable to levy Skoda's charges,
  12. Have a look at dealers prices on Autotrader for the same year/mileage cars that will tell you if the cars you are looking at are reasonably priced. Also you can look at older cars to estimate the depreciation. My experience is that you can at certain times of the year when sales are low negotiate things like mats, paint protection, mud flaps etc. to close a sale as these cost the dealer considerably less than you would pay. Best of luck.
  13. Modern cars have so many in my opinion unnecesary bells and whistles that to ad another in the form of ADBlue only increases the chance of a failure at some point. Whatever you decide remember that for car sales January-Februrary is probably the worst time of the year for dealers to off load cars and meet their sales targets it is essentially a buyers market so they are much more flexible, dont be afraid to push for a really good deal i.e extras such as paint protection new mats etc.
  14. I always thought that engine covers were to deter DIY mechanics from fiddling with things!
  15. That is strange! The technician that re-charged my 2018 Karoq's air con said that the charging machine would tell him which refridgerent was installed and that it was the old type. So I am puzzled if it was not approved after 2011.
