Fabia TSI 90 - rattle when accelerating
Im starting to think it could be the way Im driving the car!!! I have a big tendency for getting to as high gear as possible as soon as possible for better fuel economy... and the rattle/clicking noise only happens when using full throttle at low RPM in high gear! Could this be a case of Low Speed Pre Ignition?? Never heard of this until this morning but apparently its a thing more common in downsized turbocharged engines... The clicking/rattling doesnt happen at all if I modulate the throttle so Im thinking perhaps Im requesting too much of the engine.

I'll wait until needing refuel then and then fill up with some better fuel and see what that does 👍

Fabia TSI 90 - rattle when accelerating
I just filled it with regular yesterday 😬 It's also just had a full service INCLUDING new spark plugs which I was hoping would stop the noise. Would it be worth adding some sort of fuel additive?

Fabia TSI 90 - rattle when accelerating
It is a metallic rattle & I did also think it could be that! I've always ran and still do on Sainsburys regular. The car was also tuned on that fuel over at JBS

Scirocco R Pre Facelift
I must admit for a while last year I was looking at getting a Superb 280 because I find them irresistible!! So much performance in such a refined car 😍

Scirocco R Pre Facelift
Yes in my opinion the styling of the Scirocco is better than the Golf (one of the best designed cars ever in my opinion). The handling is superb, definitely a drivers car. The wider wheel base makes a huge difference when comparing to the Golf/Leon, never feels like it needs 4 wheel drive. The mk2 Superb is also a fine automobile, the name really doesn't lie 👌

Scirocco R Pre Facelift
Hello everyone, 😄 Very happy to be able to create this post. I have been lusting after one of these since 2008/2009 when they were introduced but was too young to even have a license back then! I was heartbroken when they got discontinued... But I was lucky enough to find one as close to new as possible AND with my perfect spec that I used to dream of!!! This is my Scirocco R in Candy White with pan roof, 19" Talladegas and R cloth seats (my preference over leather). It's a manual gearbox with 18k miles from new and one owner. Full VW history too. It is virtually brand new. This is NOT my main car, I intend to keep the mileage low only driving it on weekends. My commuting work is still done by the 16 Fabia 😁 I know it isn't everyones cup of tea but it is literally my dream car so I wanted to share 😋

Fabia TSI 90 - rattle when accelerating
It does not change rhythm with the engine rpm and it is reproducible. In any gear if I floor the accelerator below 3k rpm it will rattle for a few seconds. It only happens when moving, not when stationary.

Fabia TSI 90 - rattle when accelerating
Thats probably what I'm doing wrong - I tend to keep my revs well below 2000 rpm. I'm usually about 1200 to 1400 rpm EVEN GOING UPHILL! I'll adjust my driving style as per your comments and monitor from there... I've had the car since 9k miles and 18 months old - I've never had a clutch replacement so as far as I'm aware it is the original clutch now with 38k miles. I've had a heat shield loose in another car and this sounds very different to that, but it could be that! I have had my mechanic look at it and he couldn't find anything... but I thought perhaps would be a good idea to see what people think here, I'd rather catch a rattle early on and resolve the issue than let it rattle away and potentially cause more damage.

Fabia TSI 90 - rattle when accelerating
Today I come with an issue and hopefully someone can guide me in the right direction. A few months ago I noticed a new sound when driving the Fabia. It sounds like a metallic rattle which only happens when in gear and accelerating. It usually happens below 3k RPM and then stops at higher RPM. I've also noticed a long time ago that up hill the car tends to shake as if it doesn't enough power, not sure if that is related at all or not but certainly feels weird. I have a lot of mechanical sympathy and the rattle when accelerating just sounds wrong. I've tried recording the sound but it is impossible to hear over the exhaust and intake sound. Any ideas? Thank you everyone

2016 Fabia Monte Carlo TSI 90
Picked up this the other week!! 18k miles from new, one owner, full VW history, manual gearbox. Don't plan on modifying the Fabia any further as I now have this as my toy 😁

2016 Fabia Monte Carlo TSI 90
The Fabia is now running on 15 inch steelies with offset 29 so they're closer to flush with the bodywork. The higher sidewall makes for a much faster "real World" drive because I don't have to slow down as much when driving over broken surfaces even with the lowering springs, very happy with this tyre size 😁 I know this is a dangerous subject but I need to mention - I have been running a pedalbox since late 2019 and on wow what a difference!!! The difference is the same as my 2013 Leon TDI 184 between ECO and Sport. The Fabias accelerator with the pedalbox is actually even more direct than the Leon in Sport which I thought was super direct throttle. It doesn't improve performance in any way shape or form however it does do what I intended which is add another layer of connection with the car when driving.

That is awesome!!! 👌👌👌👌😁

modify accelerator sensitivity
Not complicated at all, a few minutes and you're done. You do need to calibrate it after installation, but it comes with instructions and again it only takes a couple minutes to do 👍

modify accelerator sensitivity
I've got it on a 2016 Fabia TSI 90 5 speed manual hatchback. It does NOT give the car any more power or torque, it simply gives you a more sensitive throttle which provides for a much better feel in my opinion. I had a 2013 Leon TDI 184 and for comparison, the Fabia without pedalbox is like the Leon in ECO and with the pedalbox is like the Leon in Sport. So basically gives you a "sport" mode I guess you could say 👍

I got it from pedalbox.com

AMD's 2 litre 304bhp 162mph Fabia Monte Carlo TDi *6 speed conversion*
I watched the video Darkside posted on Youtube. I had no idea this was your car!!! BRILLIANT! 👌

modify accelerator sensitivity
I too hated the accelerator feel of the Fabia! So I made one of the most difficult decisions ever! I got myself a brand new pedalbox 😬 It actually works incredibly well! I know this is a cliche but it does transform the car .👌

Optional Hybrid 1.4tsi turbo upgrade.
174bhp?!?!!? ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT! I'm jealous! Back to your question - I've not dealt with RTMG myself, but I think one of the forum members knows someone from there and they do appear to be a decent company. If I can remember the name I'll tag it below... @AMD87 should be able to help regarding RTMG if I'm not mistaken 😁

Poor Handling In Wet
What I find helped my handling massively was to reduce the pressures only slightly which not only improved front end grip but also gives you a much more comfortable ride
