  1. Binary means two of....I think you mean binding. The gauge in my car does not move off full until at least 50 miles have been travelled,so not a true indication of correct fuel level. If the float in the tank was as low as it could get in the OP car ,no surprise it was suck down .Once saw a petrol tanker driver years back ,throw a cigarette paper (rolled his own!) into the ground petrol discharge hole whilst unloading..............but he did not light the fag.........
  2. Bear in mind these gauges are not precision things - just there to give you an indication of fuel level.Better to know what mpg the car does for your driving ,and work it in conjunction with what you see on the gauge........
  3. You don't say how many miles the car has done .........In my forty odd years of driving ,I have yet to drive a fwd car ,where first gear doesn't baulk occasionally. I was never a fan of cable gear changes ,which is what we have on Citigo,as play and stretch comes in eventually. Video shown is all very well if you have full access ,another matter when the gear box is still in place in the car. Dealers will probably have more access to knowledge on whether cables need replacement,,,,,,no doubt someone will contradict me........
  4. Should anyone else want a solution to this..........I purchased a 17mm ball joint mount on a flat plate. Then fitted this to the pnone holder. Garmin circular back plate will then push onto the ball. You can then use the garmin sat nav on the phone holder -in place on the dasn top..........
  5. Hi - I have been trawling the forum here. I am looking for a suitable dash mount that will fit the existing phone holder cut out on the dash top - to fit a Garmin Drive sat nav unit. The existing Vag bracket I have will not accept the Garmin unit - back of unit is bulged out , and no access for usb lead to the back is possible. Does anyone know of a suitable source for a bracket ,before I start to canibalise what I have. Not sure if the Brodit type fitting will do at a push,as this appears to be oblong down -instead of across...........
  6. I have both a front and a rear camera. Both 5v supply, plugged in to adapter/transformer plug in the cig lighter.Front camera fits round the rearview mirror on the windscreen, and is not noticeable from the driving seat.Rear camera fixed to tailgate panel with 3Mpad,good view out and can be played back on smart phone. Both have memory card ,constantly overwritten.Bought from auction site under £10, fitted myself .Cable tucked away none hanging.........does not record with ignition on ,however........
  7. The fuse carrier on the battery/engine compartment houses fuse for a/c blower and rad fan combined -position 2 (second from left). The air conn feed fuse is in the main fusebox, position 1 (first fuse ,top left). Low gas means less cooling effect . Fuses only blow for a reason.Suggest you speak to the garage concerned,as they have been paid for a job........
  8. I can get my folding bike in,24" wheels,rear seat down,no false floor fitted...😉
  9. Your business, but why sell........the idea of buying new is to get your monies worth. No car (except Bugatti !) is an investment, but the only way to get some benefit is to drive it ,and sell before large repairs loom....... Your loss is someone else's gain.....
  10. After some months of playing tracks as stored, the player has decided to only play certain tracks, and the same ones are getting repeated. This is obviously down to the format used to convert, but I am not savy enough. I have an idea this question may have been asked before.........Can anyone enlighten me??????????? Most are copies from CD'S ,converted to MP3 with freeware programme.
  11. Thanks for the link. Most do a cheap fix,and wire a second horn in parallel. Not taking any chances with my two year old SE, sounds like a recipe for melting wiring or contacts to me. Going to make up some wiring, and use a 30amp relay to sound some cheap twin horns.......if I can get the wheel arch liner away....
  12. i don't go around blowing it all the while ( before somebody comments on this), but the single tone horn on my Se is not good enough at motorway speeds. Truckers in left-hand drive semi's ,have moved over a couple of times as I was along side for a few seconds -don't fancy being a victim under the sideguards.... I know the horn is in a pig awkward place in front of the osf wheel (UK). Has anyone ever attempted a twin tone horn swap or similar??
  13. A lot depends on how much you like driving, with a manual. Some people enjoy working a car, others think its hard work if too many gear changes........ Citigo is short of breath at times, and needs a bit more driver planning, getting early gear changes in ,when faced with gradients. Change in technique may be required, if you expect the engine to pull you out of a labouring situation. Over 50 mpg around town, and just got over 63mpg on a motorway trip. All in the eye of the beholder.....
  14. Not a cheap item ,but better thought out and designed. Thanks for the post.....
  15. Already saw that one...a bit of an eyesore ,and doesn't cover the area that takes the bashing. Rubber mat will be kept in the boot,as and when......
  16. A see through type covering is available from dealers at over £45,to cover the top bumper area when loading. I had in mind a stainless steel plate ,shown on auction site for Citigo ,fixed using 3M tape. When it arrived ,i could see immediately it was too wide to fit on the flat area when tailgate is up. Shown on packet for VW Up,so presumably glass tailgate on Up requires a different bumper. It has been returned,as they had no explanation .Has anyone bothered to fit one ,and if so do you have a link??
  17. Begs the question .....how do you and others ,select reverse gear?? Handbook says " Stop the vehicle.Fully depress clutch pedal.Move shift lever to neutral and WAIT A SHORT WHILE.Push down then on the shift lever, then push fully over to the right, and then back ,to reverse position" ........ When I was new to the car,the gear lever would baulk (block) momentarily if the pause was not observed. Now I know the car ,gear change and selection is like a knife through butter....

it is clear some don't know what others are talking about. Apart from the shelf pivots ,newer spec models have another set of lugs either side. This allows the shelf to be pushed up further than the strings take it. It is then clipped up by these lugs, until it physically has to be pulled down . (RodTucker ..not sure I 'd want to wipe my ass on it....)

Glad I'm not the only one who finds that shelf a pain in the ass......😁

A speedometer is an indicator, not a precision instrument,as are most gauges in cars.As stated, only needs to be accurate within 10% by law - so I tend to keep this in mind. Never been copped for speeding in 48 yrs driving. The parcel shelf is annoying. I find myself catching my brow on it loading stuff into the tailgate. If I push it up to lock ,I usually am reminded when I get back in the driving seat that it is still up.....so get back out again. The car lacks power on hills, but change down early and listen to the growl......
  21. All true what you say above. I passed an IAM test in 1980,so I am not prone to panic braking,or heavy use of the brakes.Calipers are warm after use ,but not hot. There is no judder or ABS kick in. As you comment, probably material is too hard.Ok for the more "briskoda " driver, who makes more use of the pedal. My forty plus years of driving, from mini to Rolls Royce, tells me that performance is not good.Once had an MG Midget (1500 engine) that required a good heavy shove on the pedal to stop from speed.Car had an A35 braking system,basically....... I now know the capabilities of the system on this Citigo - and will use more caution -wouldn't want to use another cars rear,or HGV to stop.....
  22. I suppose I will have the usual person ,who is on here all the while, telling me I am talking absolute B.....ks,but here goes.......😝 I have owned the car from new, just 3000 miles on it. Just started using it on motorway, and noticed a lack of brake performance - say when slowing down on a slip road from speed...... Brakes are ok a round the houses, which I suppose that is what the car is intended for.It seems like brake fade -small pads and small drums = low performance. Once you are aware of the performance ,it is awake up call (to me anyway).Any one else think the brakes are not up to much??? I though about competition pads ,if available.😁 (Waiting for the usual responder.....)
  23. Re octane rating - we have no guarantees that the octane is as stated on the pumps. It can save the conglomerates a large amount of money.without Trading Standards being involved to do an octane test. They leave sleeping dogs lie......... My Citigo handbook states there will be an decrease in fuel consumption if you use higher than 95 octane. As I use the car as a glorified shopping trolley,I go cheap for fuel.
  24. Thanks for the replies. Can't see the VW plate mentioned ,fitting in the cradle. I think the mobile will have to be used -like it or not....
  25. Yes, Nokia unit, but monthly allowed call time on it is limited. If it uses call time to run the sat nav, then that is out.Prefer to fit a sat nav unit, running off USB lead.Trying to use the cradle instead of a sucker on the screen.....
