window seals
Hi normanb The "seal" you mention is not water tight or meant to be , if it was you wouldn't be able to open the window so yes water can & does enter the door. There are drain holes or rather oval holes in bottom of all doors, 2 on each IIRC. The problem is there's a rubber seal that butts up to the lip on the bottom of the door & partly blocks said drain, made worse if the door is not opened for a long time. Likely with a rear door as the rubber tends to stick itself to the door. If you put your finger between seal & door lip then slide from front edge to rear edge you will unstick it and feel the location of the drain holes. How do I know ?? .I recently had a 3 inch deep puddle in front passenger footwell with car pointing slightly down hill , on opening NSR door there was a slight trickle until I ran my finger between seal & door lip when water then poured out.

2019 Skoda Octavia Vs Superb - the final decision!
Hi I can't compare the Octavia with the superb as I've only had Octavia's but on my third Octavia I can recommend the DSG rather than the manual . 2 litre diesel for me . But the same would apply to any engine. In fact the mapping of DSG gearboxes is more suited to petrol engines than diesel. Seats are comfy but the ride is at times harsh due to the agricultural rear suspension found on most Octavia's. Octavia VRS & scouts have Independent Rear Suspension, far better for ride quality, I presume that the superb also has IRS, if that's the case then from your post I would say the superb . As for gearbox it really can only be your choice. Edit. Another point to consider is the tyre profile, 16 inch is likely to be 55 whereas the 17 inch is more likely to be 45 profile. That lower profile can make can make a big difference in handling/ride quality.

Windscreen washer - is there a fuse ?.
Hi Lee01 Thanks for that, fuse 42 under dash. Somehow I missed that in my book, however rear doors lock/unlock so its not the fuse.

Windscreen washer - is there a fuse ?.
Hi I have a mk 3 facelift Last night with a mucky windscreen I pulled on the stalk & headlight washer operated for 1 second and stopped , no windscreen wash. Today I went to refill the wash bottle, its full but no wash at all so presuming its a fuse I took off glovebox door before looking in handbook. No mention of windscreen wash any where in dashboard or under bonnet fuse box. With the engine off I cant hear pump running with stalk pulled , so is there a fuse or is the motor kaput ??. If there is a fuse can anyone tell which 1 .Thank you.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LIGHTING.
But the lights for driving were not on , hence no instrument lights. Personally I find it to be a superb feature and wish that all cars were fitted with it. Maybe there would then be a lot less cars being driven around in the dark/semi dark with nothing but sidelights/DRLs on . Not a dig at you so please don't be offended but are you 1 of those who seem to " think" that having headlights on are all about seeing where you are going with no thought about being seen. If the latter is the case chances are your driving a dark coloured car.

Post driving fan noise concern?
Yes and if Its a DSG gearbox it will select a gear lower than expected. Also the idle RPM will be aprox 1K rpm rather than the usual 850 rpm .

Which is the best form of transport for commuting to and from work, car or bus?
As a ex train driver I can tell you a lot of train drivers travel to/from work by car, simply because a lot of shifts involve starting before or finishing after the first/last train / bus has run.

I would go for a 2.0 every time , I've had one 1.6 & two 2.0,s. As good as the 1.6 TDI is it's not as good as the 2.0 TDI . Fuel consumption wise the 2.0 may well do slightly better than the 1.6 simply because it's not working as hard. The 2.0 has a lot more oomph behind it than the 1.6 , as a result it's much more enjoyable to drive. the age of car your looking @ the difference in road tax is what ? 20 £..- My new diesel smells like burning rubber and/or the fan stays on after engine is turned off
- Skoda rear Suspension?
I doubt that it has drop links ,they are for cars with independent suspension .IE rollbar & wishbones your octy has that on the front with a beam suspension on the rear. VRs & scout have independent rear suspension. PS that said I'm not sure that the front suspension has drop links .It's been a while.- DPF questions - Octavia Scout 2016
As T07 has said ,if its doing a regen the RPM @ idle is higher than normal. Another indication that a regen is required with a DSG box car is the reluctance to change up a gear, you may find that for Example DSG is selecting 3rd rather than the usual 4th . As for smell , if you interrupt a regen you will find the radiator fan running @ full speed when you wouldn't expect it & a smell of burning rubber, the smell in time becomes ever less noticeable . As for having the warning light come on ,once, just once I've had that happen. On the way to having a MOT in the early days of covid lockdown .this with approx. 8 years of having DPF fitted diesels .- Drive mode having no effect
I had the same problem as you, steering too light for my liking .I now have drive mode set to individual . It adds a bit of weight to the steering without altering any thing else .- Advice on tyres
Michelin cross climates would be my choice . I've had them on my present MK3 and other cars prior to that . I've found them to be good all round tyres.- Lumen 200 bulbs
They are for interior lamps. I Swapped mine from standard to LED & found them to be a lot brighter. PS going from the photo It's doubtful they would fit ( too long ).- DSG won't move until brake depressed
Exyeti , The Op last visited on 4 March 2020 so is unlikely to reply.- Brake pedal becomes slow to return
I would be surprised if bleeding the brakes would cure the problem, usually brakes need bleeding because the brake pedal is spongey .- Water collecting in front doors
I get the same but opposite to you😕 .My drive is on a slope & I park facing downhill . I get the same thing but with the rear doors more than the front. Water always will get passed the "seal" at the bottom of the window . You than go for a while without opening a door & water collects , it seems to me that with the door closed the seal partially blocks the drain hole in bottom of door. the rear & front doors on my 17 plate have the drain holes @ the leading edge , maybe your 19 plate is different ?..- Brake pedal becomes slow to return
Diesels have a brake servo just the same as a petrol engine car. They both use vacuum ,Where they differ is a petrol engine produces a vacuum in the inlet manifold that is used to operate the servo , A diesel doesn't ,so to provide the vacuum needed for the servo a vacuum pump is fitted , usually on the end of the camshaft.- Boot won't open on unlock only on middle boot switch
Hi Dan Welcome to the forum . Does pressing the unlock button unlock all doors but not the boot ?.. Or does it unlock drivers door only ?.. If it unlocks drivers door only with a single press try pressing the unlock button twice in quick succession. The way it acts can be altered in the menu , I cant remember what setting its called .. Sorry if that's taken as teaching grandma to suck eggs ..- 9 Light Warning
Sounds to me that the canbus system for some reason doesn't like the bulb you replaced so replace the replacement & see if normality is resumed . is the new bulb that you fitted an LED ?..- Water in doors.
Yes , I've had the same happen on doors that are normally not opened. ( search for my posts ).. The drain holes are in the bottom of the door of course & are very close to the lip formed by the outer skin. It seems to me that with the door shut and seal partly compressed the seal does to a certain extent block said drain hole, so with a finger move the seal away from the inner face of the outer skin then run a old rag the full length of the door. having found where the drain holes are do as Mickvrs220 has suggested .- Water ingress, but no sign of leak??
Yes It's surprising how much water the door can hold isn't it ?. It seems that with the door being closed the seal is compressed which actually blocks the drainage hole, as a result water will only drain with the door open.- Water ingress, but no sign of leak??
The following is going to sound very stoopid ( I know it is ) but how often are the other 3 doors opened ?. The reason I ask is my car normally has me only in it, as a result the only door normally opened is drivers door . Not so long ago the 3 other doors were opened while I cleaned it & I was amazed @ the amount of water that pi55ed out of the doors. The "seal" twixt window and door is not watertight , it cant be hence water gets into the door , if the drainage holes are blocked you could unknowingly have a few pints of water inside the the doors not normally opened. It seems to me that the placement of drainage holes in the bottom of the door means they work best with the door open. Like I said sounds stoopid but Just a thought.- Bolt found on top of undertray.
Its a torx head screw, The only torx head screws under the bonnet that I know of are on fuel & air filter. the fact its painted suggests air filter housing. Do you have 1 screw on air filter lid missing/looking newer than the others ?. - Best for long distance motorway miles?
