  1. The only time I have ever had condensation on my windscreen was when there was a leak. Since the windscreen was replaced I have not had an issue. It was a long drawn out process which was particularly disappointing as the whole of the cars interior had to be stripped. If this does turn out to be your problem make sure to check everything after the work as I suffered considerable damage to various internal trims etc.
  2. When my 2019 Karoq SEL DSG started having that problem I took it in to the dealership and they kept it for several weeks trying to find the problem. Turned out the windscreen was leaking and water was running down the back of the bulkhead behind the carpet. This is a well known issue with the Karoq which you will see if you google it. Check thoroughly to see if your carpet is damp and if so take it in for investigation. You should not have any condensation at all if everything is sealed up correctly. I havent suffered any since the repair.
  3. Your problem does seem like a software problem and an update might well sort it. I found that my issue was just caused by a remote battery going flat and the locking system getting out of sync when trying to get in the car. I fitted a new battery and went through the syncing cycle and all has been well for the last 11 months. The dealership offered to replace the locks but I could not see the point as everything is fine now ( fingers crossed ). I dont trust the dealership to do work on anything bodywork related as I usually end up with damage. They do fix it but I just dont want to go through the agro of getting it sorted.
  4. You did really well, I've never managed that sort of mileage but at least 60k. Did your Tuguan have electronic parking brakeby any chance?
  5. I am on the original pads all round as I have only completed 24,600 miles since new in 2019. I was surpeised as I would expect to change front pads 1st but they are only 10-12% worn I am very light on brakes and would normally expect to achieve 50-60,000 mile on a set of pads. That has always been the case over many cars in my 55 years of driving.
  6. Its very similar with the 1.5 TSI, If you keep between 60-65 mph the mpg is the best.
  7. I've booked it in to be done - I will see what they find and report back.
  8. Thats very interesting and well documented. You obviously do very varied journeys whereas I do very regular ones and have never before seen such a difference between winter and summer. My longer journeys ( 250 miles each way ) are only once or twice a year. Last year I did travel from Devon to the lake district and managed the best ever of 49 mpg, but that was the 1st time in 6 years and never seen again.
  9. Hi Yes Auto, but I would still expect fronts to wear 1st as they take more of the load. I have seen numerous posts with similar issue though. I still think after market pads are superior to originals as the manufacturers want them to wear out quick to give dealerships the work.
  10. Hi Yes, a printed report. I know what you mean, the problem with Skoda service is that it states 'parts will be replaced if required'. I've always been very suspicious of that term. I have always made a point of telling the service staff that I expect the service parts to be replaced and I want it in writing as 'I will be checking afterwards' - I never have.
  11. All my motoring life I have always used Mintex pads and discs and have always had at least 50,000 miles out of them. I much prefer them to manufacturer parts as they last longer and I have never had a Mintex disc which scored and pitted like the originals.
  12. It comes hard paying people when I have repaired my cars myself all my life. I dont think there are many jobs I havent done. My local independant has quoted £110 inc parts, labour and vat to do the rear pads as my discs look like new ( no ridge no scoring ) so its much better than main dealer.
  13. Thanks for your comments guys. My car has been on Skoda Allin package for the last three years and supposedly had new spark plugs and filters last year but I always find that my MPG is down after it has been serviced and gets back to normal after a few weeks and that happened again last year. I find if I do a long run of 250 miles it seems to sort it out. I have never before noticed a drop of more than a mile or two in winter, but I have never managed to achieve the 62 mpg that some people publish either. I have to admit that ( senior moment ) I hadn't considered the brake issue even though my rear pads are almost shot but my fronts are only 10% worn. I am thinking it is probably the electronic parking brake issue that I have seen many people complain about. I have never noticed any issue with it coming on and off and not detected any drag but the wear would certainly point to it. Cheers guys.
  14. Crazy - why didn't I link the two??????????????????????????????? I believe you can do the job without a computer - You can take off the parking brake motor and wind it back manually. I would do it myself but I have two knee replacements and just can't get down that low anymore without pain. Thanks guys
  15. I find that my rear brake pads are almost down to the limit whereas my front pads are only 10% worn. I am a gentle driver and usually expect to get over 50,000 from a set of pads but as I have only done 24,000 I am surprised to find the rears to be so low. I wondered if the electronic parking brake might be to blame and if anyone else has had this issue. My discs look fine so I only need pads but I expect a large bill even so.
  16. Hi Guys I have noticed lately that my economy has dropped but the car seems to be running fine. I am a gentle driver and normally see about 45 mpg on a decent run but lately I struggle to get above 38mpg - Any ideas ?? I have only done 24,600 miles in six years but the warranty runs out at the end of March so if there is something wrong I would want to claim now. Trouble is I have little confidence in the main dealer who are bound to say it checks out fine.
  17. Luckily I took out extended 'All In' warranty so both my locks will be replaced under warranty as it is a known fault. Its annoying though as it is an intermittent fault. I went away for ten days and did 1032 miles without a single rogue latching but last week it did it twice when driving around a carpark slowly. I hear it is a VAG problem though not just Skoda and my local dealership keep the locks on the shelf because of it.
  18. My Son had an issue with his Dacia Stepside when the wipers stopped working. You can usually get just the motor but not for Dacia. It had to be the complete wiper assembly costing £400 from a main dealer. I tried everywhere for a lesser fix which I could do myself but the same answer came back from everyone - Main dealer part only. Typical a year later there are now specialists which can supply a replacement motor for £50. As Stonekeeper says all manufacturers have issues. Its a total luck of the draw. I never had half the problems with the 2nd hand cars I used to own. No more new ones for me, they end up costing way too much when you are locked into main dealer warranty.
  19. Hi everyone Just a quick update. There is obviously a fault on Karoq door locks, as yesterday they started to lock and unlock rapidly whilst driving slowly in traffic. I was wrong afterall, it wasn't just a syncing issue. I will have to book it in for replacements ASAP, while I am still covered by the All In plan. I don'y know if anyone else has this problem, but when ever I have a service my engine seems to run roughly and noisily and not like before I take it in. The other thing I noticed was that whilst being serviced they disconnected my dashcam, presumably so that I couldn't check up on their work or the way they drove it on the road test. Strange! I will update after the locks have been changed.
  20. I totally agree, I could do the job myself easily in that time. They tell me ( as they have every time something has been done under warranty ) that they need the car two days because they have to strip the locks out and then get in touch with the warranty dept to get authorisation to do the job. I'm sure the whole process could still be done the same day but perhaps they are not organised that way. The main fact is that since the car was on the computer for the service I have not seen any problems with the locks which to me, proves that they were just out of sync. I am inclined to forgo the replacement at this time as I still have another year left on my 'All In' plan. The service guy did confirm that people who did not have warranty were given a bill for around £900 and as the locks are only £130 for the pair you can clearly see how much dealers charge per hour. It was interesting that they did not mention my needing to have my timing belt replaced which they had warned me last year, as my car is now five years old, but of course we now know that Skoda had dropped that condition last July leaving the change required at 50,000 miles. As I have only done 20,000 I still have time to save up. Of course the cost will be even more ridiculous by the time I need it done but I may not have the car by then.
  21. Good morning Guys I had my MOT and service yesterday and mentioned the problem with the locks. The Service manager advised that they would have to book the car in separately for the lock work but because it is a known fault both front door locks would be replaced under warranty as I had the 'All in' plan. He also told me that they keep the locks in stock at all times because of the 'known fault'. Shame they don't have a recall system to cover it. He also confirmed that if I hadn't had 'All In' the work would have cost around £900. Anyway I said to him that I didn't believe there was an actual fault because it was fine until my fob battery died and I suspected that it was a matter of syncing the system. He said they would need the car for two days because of the to and fro to the warranty dept and the paperwork involved, which is a bit of a pain. When I collected the car after service he advised me that the computer did show up a lock fault so they would definitely book it in for replacement. Strangely ever since they hooked it up to the service computer the locks have been fine so I think I was probably right all the time. I am however glad that I took out 'All In' after all.
  22. Hi Guys No that didn't work, I will have to get the dealership to put it on the computer to see what is causing it. Seems to be too much of a coincidence that it happened straight away after the key fob battery issue. There does seem to be an awful lot of problems with VAG locks though as reported in the Daily Mail. Skodashould be recalling them and replacing for free. Don't hold your breath for that one though.
  23. Hi Tom Thats certainly worth a try - I'll let you know how I get on. Regards Dave
  24. Hi Guys I have just had a similar problem with my door locks. Last week I could not get into my car with my key fob or my wifes or by the door handle sensors. I noticed that neither of the key fob LED indicators were flashing when pressing the buttons which indicated that the batteries were dead. It was strange that my wifes had died as she has rarely used it since we had the car. I was about to prise the cover off the drivers door handle to get to the lock manually when I suddenly remembered another device in the house which used the same disc battery. Luckily this worked and I was able to unlock the car. I have since replaced both of the key fob batteries and they now seem to be working okay. However I now have this strange problem where if we are travelling slowly ( for example in traffic ) the locks are constantly locking and unlocking every so many metres. Now I hear all these stories of the locks being a known fault, but I wonder if that is necessarily always the case. It seems to me that the so called Technicians at main dealers are only interested in replacing parts which always end with the customer getting a large bill. I can't help thinking this problem is something to do with the system getting out of sync after me trying so many times to get in the car unsuccessfully. Before 'Kessy' it was a common occurance which was easily restored by placing the key in the ignition and following a set procedure. I have certainly done it on several different cars from VAG to Vauxhall and Ford without any problems but without somewhere to put the key on this Skoda I didn't have this opportunity. My car is on the extended 'All In' warranty system but I wouldn't mind betting that locks would not be covered. The whole 'All In' warranty is very ambiguous anyway as no one at Skoda was able to advise what is actually covered, but I'm guessing only major electrical or mechanical failure. My car is booked in next week for service and MOT so I will ask the question but I will not be paying silly money to have locks replaced as if that is the only answer I will do it myself. My car has only done 20,235 miles since new. As this phenomena has only started since the battery issue I cannot see that the locks are at fault. I will report back after my visit.
