Fabia MKII - 7500km/180 days Service Interval On Reset?
I tried another reset through the MFD, but nothing changed. I tried resets with the OBD apps, but they came up as not supported, but it did show that it is on the standard schedule and not the long life version. I suspect it is something to do with as @Alasdair1 reported as it has only averaged 4500 km/6000 miles per year, and I know it hasn't been driven much in the past year. At some point I'll have to drop into Skoda and see if they can update it with VCDS, or just bear in mind when I last changed the oil etc.

Fabia MKII - 7500km/180 days Service Interval On Reset?
Hi all, Recently bought the kids a 2012 Fabia 1.2 77Tsi Monte Carlo manual with 58000km (36000 miles) to learn to drive in - great little car. Cosmetically the car was a bit unloved so a bit of a cut and polish has sorted that. The service history book was missing but a sticker on the screen showed an oil change in the past 6000km/18 months and with such a low km worth the risk. To be on the safe side I have just changed the plugs & leads (OBD showed a misfire on #3) and changed the oil, filter, air filter and cabin filter. On resetting the service through the MFD it only reset the interval to 180 days/7500 km (4660 miles) when I was expecting 12 months/15000 km (~10000 miles) on a fixed interval. I used 5w-30 with the VW spec oil as that should be good for the fixed interval here in Australia. Any reason it has only reset the interval for 180 days/7500 km? Is VCDS required to reset to the full interval, or is related to the age of the car? Thanks in advance!

I don't believe there is not a demand for manual cars.
I'm in Australia too and been driving DSG transmission cars for 15+ years in the form of A3, S3, GTi, Superb, a couple of Passats and now a 4.5 Octavia VRs so seen them really develop into something that is now quite smooth, controllable and reliable, and even a bit of fun when using the paddles in "manual" mode. My ex once had one of the dreaded Golf 118TSi's that had a number of issues that VW were in denial about. One of my GTi's (MK VI?) was very jerky as well. They're particularly easy when driving around Sydney in it's traffic and traffic lights every 200m. However, I'm currently teaching my 18-year-olds to drive and got them a Fabia Monte Carlo manual. They complained it was pointless as most cars are auto of some variety, and more than likely they will end up in a single pedal EV in the not-too-distant future. My reasoning is that I think it will teach them to be better drivers as you have to pay more attention to the car by feel and noise. You have to set up for corners, junctions, hills and traffic conditions. You have to concentrate! They are not simply a point and shoot armchair. I also reasoned that they could get into any car, anywhere in the world and just drive it if they had to. They are in the early stages but getting the idea. After 6-12 months after passing the test (hopefully!) it will be second nature to them.

Octavia 4.5 Facelift Dashcam Install
This is what I needed to do as my Blackvue has parking mode. Wired in an extra 12v cigarette type socket just below the glovebox as that was easiest place once tapped into a fuse in the box behind the glovebox. Used one of the centre console support struts as an earth point. Then used the supplied lead with a 12v plug for the separate battery which I put under the passenger side seat. Then just ran camera supply wires back under the trim/carpet, behind the centre console, clipped it under the drivers dash lower panel to keep the wires away from the pedals, then up the A pillar - minding the airbag - and along the top of the windscreen. Easy access to unplug it all as I can get at the additional 12v socket under the passenger side dash, and/or disconnect the camera power under the passenger seat at the battery

Trusted service places Sydney?
I'm on a service plan so tied to using main dealers but not had any issues with Sydney City Skoda near the airport.

Head Up Display
Yes, you can turn off the HUD through the infotainment screen. You can also adjust the brightness and the display position on the windshield (about 2cm U,D,L,R) and some limited options on what info is displayed. You can also change the display colour to blue (normally white) so it stands out in snowy conditions.

Head Up Display
I've got one on my 4.5......I glance at it occasionally, but after 40 years of driving I've been conditioned to looking at the dash dials. It has probably taken me a while to even just look at the digital numbers speed read out on the dials rather than the gauge itself. The HUD also does display some additional info with the lane keeping, other vehicles in front and collision warnings which is useful at times as well.

Fuel range glitch? ⛽️
I'm overseas so not sure, but I believe it has been a bit warm in the UK lately???? If so the density of the fuel is affected - you may be getting normal litres/volume, but the fuel density is less and consequently it weighs less. This is probably affecting the indicated range depending on how the range is calculated from the tank contents. I'm in Australia and my range can vary post fill up by 50km depending on temperature. Best to fill up in the early morning as the fuel in the petrol station tanks should be cooler and denser.

Octavia vRS FL first impressions
Thanks for that @whippersnapper ....from what I have read there maybe some progress as the Enyaq and VW ID electric models need some kind of app support for some functions and VAG locally are aware of this. Seems a bit wrong that they sell a car where parts of it require an app to set a few things up, but can't support it. I had a 2018 Superb for a few years, but the technology has moved on a bit since then, so still getting my head round some of the set up and functions.

Octavia vRS FL first impressions
Collected my new 4.5 RS Wagon in a few days ago and still figuring a few things out that I'm hoping someone maybe able to help me out with. In the infotainment profile it shows the name Nick.....but that is not me! I have read up and it appears that you need to do this through the Skoda app but being in Australia we do not have access to it (something about VAG locally not investing in the required infrastructure???). It is not generally a problem, but it makes me unsure as to what else has been set up in the profile and maybe affecting the car????? For instance, the driving mode always starts in Normal mode even though I last used it in Individual. I've done a factory reset on the infotainment unit, but Nick is still there. I've got the dealer on to it, but just trying to sort it for my own knowledge. @whippersnapper did you have any issues like this in NZ and do you have app access? Otherwise, liking the car so far and looking forward to when the engine has been "run in", and would have preferred the lettered style airbag but it has the emblem.

Wireless android auto on Skoda Superb III IV 2020.
If you haven't got the wireless AA built in, this device was released last month https://motorolasound.com/audio-products/android-auto/ma1 . From I have read it works quite well. Your head unit/system does need to be AA capable though so it is not just a way of adding AA functionality into an older unit. Purely a way of getting wireless AA to go with your wired AA capable head unit.

Build Data Codes?
As my front brake pads are getting a bit close to worn out I thought I'd get some parts as this is within my scope of knowledge and ability to replace them. On trying to order the brake pads it appears there are a number of different systems fitted to vehicles and I need the build data codes. These used to be on a sticker usually in the spare wheel well or front of the service booklet, but no longer. I've spoken to my dealer and head office here in Australia and nobody seems to be able to supply the codes and just point you to their spares department to buy the OEM parts at twice the price. Seems like a bit of a ploy to buy only from Skoda me thinks. Code I'm looking for could be 1ZA, 1ZK or 1LA I believe. Anyone any idea where to get the codes, or easily identify which brake system is fitted to my car without stripping down the brakes? Car is 2019 model year, Superb 206 Sportline wagon.
