  1. I haven't done a huge amount of miles since then (8k or so) but haven't seen it since. I do have a similar code on my new to me mark 3 so may well go down the same route for that and get a carbon clean
  2. I just got the same myself today. I'm presuming the return spring is making the noise but I don't know if it is something that needs urgent attention. I also wonder if the cold weather may be something to do with it for me
  3. Glow plug number 2 replaced and car has no warning lights again. I think the garage was at it charging 2 hours labour to change plug and do diagnostics when I told them all I wanted doing was plug 2 changed
  4. Just to update on this. The light went off itself. I got the car Carbon cleaned and so far no further light and car running fine.
  5. My tales of woe have now extended to my car. I can't recall the last time one of my Superbs was in good health since my wife bought a Mk 3. This time it is my Mk 2 estate which is showing teh fault below. Needless to say the EGR, from what I read, is tucked away 2 or 3 hours labour from removing. I used to clean out my Mondeo one regularly but that was right at the front of teh engine. I'm presuming the egr is clogged up but I dare say it could be a hose with a leak. Car running perfectly and can't see any smoke. Any suggestions or is it yet another holiday for my mechanic at my expenses lol Sunday,30,June,2024,19:05:13:03968 VCDS -- Windows Based VAG/VAS Emulator Running on Windows 11 x64 VCDS Version: 24.5.0.0 (x64) HEX-V2 CB: 0.4643.4 Data version: 20240429 DS355.0 www.Ross-Tech.com VIN: TMBKJ73T6F9054248 License Plate: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Address 01: Engine Labels: 03L-906-023-CAY.clb Control Module Part Number: 03L 906 023 PR HW: 03L 906 023 JH Component and/or Version: 1,6l R4 CR td H43 6942 Software Coding: 00194014032501080000 Work Shop Code: WSC 33361 790 00999 ASAM Dataset: EV_ECM16TDI02103L906023PR 003004 (SK46) ROD: EV_ECM16TDI021_SK46.rod VCID: 055781ECA5A1DE22645-8050 1 Fault Found: 7337 - EGR System P0401 00 [11101000] - Insufficient Flow MIL ON - Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear Freeze Frame: Fault Priority: 2 Fault Frequency: 30 Mileage: 239698 km Date: 2105.14.30 Time: 14:08:20 Engine RPM: 1723.75 /min Normed load value: 9.4 % Vehicle speed: 100 km/h Coolant temperature: 92 C Intake air temperature: 19 C Ambient air pressure: 980 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 14.456 V Unlearning counter according OBD: 40 Air mass: specified value-MAF_SP_MMV: 235.75 mg/stroke Air mass: actual value (mg/stroke)-MAF_MES: 349.841 mg/stroke EGR Solen.val.: actual value-ANG_EGRV[0]: 84.021 % Throttle valve adapter: actual value-ANG_THR[0]: 95.996 % Charge air pressure: specified value-MAP_SP_MMV: 1074.28 hPa Charge air pressure: actual value-MAP_MMV: 1074.28 hPa Engine torque-TQI_SP: 39.63 Nm Readiness: 0000 0000
  6. Glow plug code back up after 3 or 4 starts. That will be another visit to the garage who should be very familiar with it. About 5 visits in the 3 months or so we have owned it. Hopefully just the glow plug but knowing Damian it will likely be a longer and more expensive story
  7. Drove mine to Greggs and Back about 3 miles in total and no warning lights, horrible noises or blowouts so I'm calling that a rare win
  8. New battery fitted, dash predictably lit up like a Christmas Tree. Took it for a drive and most codes disappeared as the ABS sensor got read. The engine management stayed on so I cleared that again and took another run round the block and it hasn't came back. Hopefully that will be that but it cam back the last time after a few runs so not out the woods yet. No doubt the battery was not performing though as starting is much easier so it was a worthwhile task regardless and I hope that bugger Damian appreciates another £100 odd quid being invested into it.
  9. The one in the car is 68Ah
  10. It is 8 years old. Sorry I'm recovering from a wee op yesterday so wasn't thinking too hard. I have both a Mk2 and Mk3. The Mk 2 has been brilliant and the Mk 3 an absolute nightmare. I'm going to order a new battery and take it from there.
  11. Varta was what I read was best and the current one is AGM. I'll read up about what codes to change. Thanks
  12. The battery feels a bit weak when starting the car and it is original to the car so ten years and 100K old. Might be best just to replace the battery myself and see what faults remain. I'll get that done and take it from there
  13. My Skoda Mk 3, Damian as I know it, has basically been a disaster since my wife bought it against my wishes. After all sorts of issues were fixed it scanned with zero errors and I hoped the worst of it was over. Anyways she went away with her sister at the weekend past and I have another string of errors. She locked the keys in the boot and the lid trapped the key ring. Can't fault Skoda security as it took locksmith 7 hours to pick the lock, needless to say I was 2 hours 45 minutes into the 3 hour rescue mission when he got it picked. The guy had to use a balloon type contraption to open the boot a bit to get the key ring out. When I drove the car the next day I noticed the engine management light and she said she thinks it came on before the keys were locked in the car but she isn't sure. Anyways there are a large number of faults now and another symptom is the alarm was going off randomly before she went away and now a single fog light is on when idling despite the fog lights being off and they both come on when turned on. I cleared the codes but they all came back after around 3 start stop cycles. I'm guessing it is some electrical problem and perhaps caused by some kind of parasitic drain may from a faulty BCM or similar or hopefully just a duff battery. Here all all the codes attached, I named the files so ignore that. I think I have spend more repairing this car after travelling about 1000 miles than I have all my other cars combined in the last 200000 miles basic setting.pdf battery.pdf key.pdf air qual.pdf glow.pdf
  14. Got the chance to do my first decent run in teh car today. I was photographing an event in Dumfries so 140 round trip on A roads. Only managed 51 mpg indicated on the way down but it is hilly and blowing a hoolie. On the way back it did 71 mpg so average over 60 which I was happy with and about the same as my Mk 2 1.6 estate.
  15. Cheers Just heard back from the garage, they are quoting an additional 3 hours labour(6 total at £70 +vat per hour) and then the seal and sealant on top of that(£150 +vat). Total will end up just over a grand so another 450 quid or so I wasn't expecting. I think I have done about 20 miles in the car and my garage bills will be around £2500. To be fair looking at those for sale with similar spec and mileage and who have had their timing belt done recently it is around the same price taking into account the £2500 on top of buying price. Just to put a wee cherry on the top the front pads are also at 70% wear so that will be another wee job that needs doing soon but I spotted that when I first saw the car so expected that on the horizon. I've done a few cars front discs and pads so I will probably tackle that job myself and may stick discs on too as at least that will be a long time before I have to worry about discs and pads for a while, hopefully. I think the mechanic thought he was cheering me up when he said it was a good clean car.
