  1. Hello all, it's been a while since I visited this thread. Just to clear up some things from the last few posts. The polo gti gearbox will not fit the ea211 engines as its designed to fit an ea888 engine which has a larger bell housing with a different bolt pattern. For gearbox upgrades your best bet will be looking for a gearbox from a CZD or CZE engine as I believe they may be MQ250s used on those. The standard 6 speed PRQ boxes are perfectly capable of pushing power, unless you snap your dog bone mount which will crack the diff housing which is part of the bell housing (don't ask me how I know) As for engines, all ea211 4 cylinder engines use almost identical long blocks, just with different bore/stroke combos. Some have extra sensors or features, and some just have blanks cast into the block. Swapping from the cjz 1.2tsi to a czc 1.4tsi is very easy, everything is identical except for a couple extra sensors at the back of the engine near where the turbo sits. You can get away with not using these sensors and leaving them disconnected to use the oem ecu and loom for the 1.2, and as far as I'm aware, I still have the only 1.4tsi swapped mk3 fabia in the uk, and became the first to do a fmic conversion at the start of the month. As for turbo swaps, the best results seem to have come from the rtmg hybrid turbos for the 1.4tsi ea211 engines such as the setup in @Monkey_Dan's Fabia. You can still hit around 170-180 using a 1.4tsi turbo such as the ones listed at the start of this thread, but there are quite a few tuners who won't touch that turbo setup. Lmk if anyone has any questions 👌
  2. After many hours of troubleshooting, I'm now at a loss. I can't start my car due to an unknown electrical issue. I have replaced fuses in the dash and engine bay, checked the three relays behind the dash gauges, I have spent hours tracing wires with a multimeter and even replaced the starter motor unit. When trying to crank the car, the starter does not turn, the battery does have charge, and I even substituted a spare battery in to rule out that issue. Any suggestions to get this issue resolved would be great. I have attached the OBD11 readout below: OBDeleven data log Date: 2022-01-09 17:13 VIN: TMBFN6NJ6GZ101615 Car: Skoda Fabia Year: 2016 Body type: 5-dr hatchback Engine: CJZD Mileage: 186984 KM --------------------------------------------------------------- 01 Engine System description: R4 1.2l TFS Software number: 04E906027BC Software version: 9023 Hardware number: 04E907309AF Hardware version: X22 ODX name: EV_ECM12TFS01104E906027BC ODX version: 001008 Long coding: 01190032230401080000 Trouble codes: P305200 - Starter activation, return message terminal 50 Short circuit to B+ static Date: 2021-11-25 00:22:35 Mileage: 186984 km Priority: 2 Malfunction frequency counter: 1 Unlearning counter: 255 Engine speed: 0.00 Normed load value: 0.0 % Vehicle speed: 0 km/h Coolant temperature: 5 °C Intake air temperature: 6 °C Ambient air pressure: 980 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 11.874 V Dynamic environmental data: 209628126C2015A60016A2024615A70020124900000C38124A000000BE U100800 - Diagnostic interface for data bus Read out DTC static Date: 2021-11-25 00:22:40 Mileage: 186984 km Priority: 2 Malfunction frequency counter Unlearning counter: 255 Engine speed: 0.00 Normed load value: 0.0 % Vehicle speed: 0 km/h Coolant temperature: 5 °C Intake air temperature: 6 °C Ambient air pressure: 980 mbar Voltage terminal 30: 11.732 V Dynamic environmental data: 209628101C27051097000010BE0159124802
  3. Yeah, the turbos used on the 1.4 125hp engines such as the CXS and CZC engines are the same as the 1.2 turbo with a larger exhaust intake for the additional displacement. The bigger turbo you need is typically found on the more powerful 140hp and 150hp CZD engines. I also recommend purchasing a new or refurbished turbo rather than bolting a used turbo on your car. The last thing you want is that turbo failing and destroying your engine. (also take it to a good quality tuner, my tuner managed to blow up a refurb turbo with new internals)
  4. Planning to go for the Golf GTI/Octavia VRS engine with the polo gti 6 speed gearbox and engine mounts. VAG ECUs use the same connectors so I should be able to plug the car's main loom to the replacement ecu, and I'm looking to get a car from copart so I have the complete engine loom. For now I'll just run the stock engine with plans to go stage 3 with the is38 turbo which will run about 400bhp on a safe revo tune. It definitely won't be as simple as the 1.4tsi swap, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.
  5. I'm not 100% sure, interestingly it was an intake valve that snapped off, I expected it to be an exhaust valve with the aggressive overrun map I had. The sparkplug may have also failed causing it to drop the valve. I can cross off doing the 1.4tsi swap, so if anyone wants any extra info or help swapping in the 1.4tsi, let me know know. Next step is to source an ea888 gen3 to swap in.
  6. Golf decat downpipes will fit the ea211 1.2 in the fabia, however you will need to cut the flexi out and put a shorter flexi in to fit properly. On another note, my valves have kissed the piston in cylinder 3, so the 1.4 engine swap has deceased. Next steps are a 1.8 or 2.0tsi swap and a few other big things, but that will be a few months in the making.
  7. I've worked on quite a few Fabias for people, the TRC and Maxton splitters and sideskirts for the polo 6c/6r will fit, we are however limited with spoiler choice. I havent been able to confirm if the spoiler extensions from maxton will fit. You do have the option of a massive tailgate mounted spoiler, but they aren't to most people's taste. If you want a budget friendly option, spend £5 on an ebay rubber splitter. I did it to mine at the start of the year and a few people have followed suite. Its a cheap option, and done right it looks quite good. You also have the added benefit of extra durability, as the TRC and Maxton splitters are known for braking on speed bumps and kerbs if you have a lowered car. If you want to go a step further, you can also use the rubber splitter as a sideskirt. (picture of the cheap option below)
  8. I'm aware the R5 edition came with a 1.4tsi but its also common knowledge that it was *not* sold in the UK, and I wasn't claiming to have the first 1.4 mk3 ever. As far as I'm aware, I'm the only non-skoda individual to do an engine swap on the mk3. (Do I really have to clarify that?) All mods have been fully declared on a specialist modified car policy since day 1. Belive it or not, I'm not that stupid. That day at southport is my biggest regret, but a thread about turbo swaps isn't the place for bringing this up. Theres a lot I'd like to say about that day, but what I will say is it could have gone much worse and I'm incredibly thankful no one was hurt. But thanks for bringing that ****show up again, much appreciated
  9. I know, but the first unofficial engine swap in the mk3 (Unless someone else beat me to it)
  10. Its currently running with stock mq200 gearbox and the 1.2 ecu, but that ecu is also running the stage3 tune which ruined the last engine, so I'm booking someone to come and put a base map on it to bed the engine in before aiming for similar power from a stage 2 tune. Might go to rtmg in a year or so when I decide I need more power
  11. Mine wasn't even 2nd hand, it was a refurb.... but it still blew up Though the reason for the turbo blowing up was a terrible remap from a tuner in Manchester Meanwhile I'm doing a 1.4 swap on my Fabia. Initially I was told the engine is a CZDA engine (150bhp) when I picked it up from London, but it turns out its a CXSA (122bhp) I can't complain too much, as this has made things easier as its just the intake cam with VVT (like the 1.2), rather than both cams. At the weekend I got the engine in the car and running with a pretty obvious misfire, just needs new plugs and a proper map. Though I can now say it's the first mk3 fabia to get an engine swap to a 1.4
  12. With my car just over 105k miles, i have noticed this week when changing the oil, there is a leak from between the engine and the gearbox, this usually indicates the rear main seal is going. Yesterday I looked at the undertray and there is fresh oil sitting on it, so I have a pretty serious rear main seal leak. Does anyone have any ideas on how much this typically costs to replace the rear main seal?
  13. I went for 15mm spacers on the front and 20mm spacers on the rear, and I bought extended black tuner style bolts to go along with the spacers. And as far as other mods go, i also got some cheap splitter and side skirt extensions to make the car look even lower.
  14. My fabia is lowered by 75mm and I have 20mm spacers on the rear, with 15mm on the front. I also have this issue with the wheels rubbing against the arch liner and these screws. The best option is probably going to be bending the mounting points upwards for the arch liner to move the mounting points out of the way of the tyre. The other option is to remove the arch liner and cut off the mounting points and you wont have to worry about rubbing.
  15. If your battery is down to 9v after a couple days and struggling to hold charge, it sounds like your battery is probably on its way out.
