Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
I messaged JBS too, they said the fluctuating boost im getting is probably due to the actuator closely governing the boost. Seems the turbo wants to just go and go. I'm still none the wiser whether my boost fluctuation is the throttle opening and closing or the actuator clumsily controlling the boost. My tuner said it held boost steady on the RR and didn't notice it on his test drive (he wouldn't have as you need a good stretch on open road where you can be flat out). Maybe similar to yours looking all good but on the road not so. I've still got the standard exhaust, I'd like to rule that out as a issue and I still think a hybrid turbo is I overkill.

I don't really understand what's going on then. What boost is a standard 1.2 and what do they push it to on a stage 1 remap? They don't seem to have issues. Also I had no issues with an unmapped turbo swap car and got 124bhp peak. I don't get why its when we go map it there's a problem. How come you didn't get the throttle closing issue again? I don't get how your seemingly good curve translated to un-driveable on the road. Have you got any graphs?

Hi flow turbo inlet pipe with resonator delete
Back in stock, worked out just under £120 delivered. I'm a sucker for this car!

Hi flow turbo inlet pipe with resonator delete
Found one, not sure why it didn't come up in my search before. MST do one, it works with a standard or aftermarket air intake. It's out of stock but there is a German company offering it for sale on eBay. Part no is VW-MK708 for anyone interested

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
I'm thinking of cancelling my cat-back order and going full custom. I just like fitting stuff myself when I can and off the shelf bits let me do that. Surely they could scavenge the fittings off the old exhaust. The sensor after the cat has already been mapped out anyway.

They are both 200 cell units so should be fine for mot. But they are expensive especially the the HJS one. The Unitronic may be overkill but it's cheaper. I've got the hidden tailpipe version of the Friedrich cat-back on order. Custom downpipe with sports cat may be the way to go

Friedrich Motorsport do off the shelf exhaust systems. Cat-back and turbo back, they do 3 versions of a 2.5inch downpipe (de-cat, sports cat and HJS sports cat). I've seen the 3 inch unitronic downpipe but wasn't sure if it would fit as it's for the jetta

Upgraded downpipe and sports cat
Trying to find the above for a 1.2tsi, anyone know if this will fit? https://r-tmg.co.uk/product/vw-polo-gti-1-8tsi-192hp

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
What the hell kind of point is that! What a load of ****e. Do you know how it's calculated?

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
I thought boost was taken from the ecu. Some readings are calculated in the app like bhp and torque I wouldn't rely on them at all. I'm more looking at the throttle, fuel, revs and boost readings.

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
I've just got an app called torque on my phone that I can contect to my odb port using a Bluetooth adapter. Trying to work out which is cause and which is affect. Need to work out which sensors to log. Boost, fuel rail pressure, throttle position (there are a number). Then need to find enough road to run through some kind of test program. My tuner saw stable boost on the rr

I think I must be getting that throttle closing thing too, and that is causing the boost fluctuation. I've read about it on a Golf forum but the thread didn't reach a conclusion and I know the hardware is different. Must be some kind of safety cut out. I'm running 1.4 bar max but under WOT 3000-4000rpm it doesn't hold it, it falls to 1.25 ish and climbs again. Last night I realised that I was still running the yellow spring in my Forge BOV 1.4 bar is the top end range for the standard spring so I changed it to the blue one. Still having the issue but may be slightly better. I also gapped the sparkplugs to 0.70mm but since been advised by the tuner to try 0.60 but haven't yet

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
Sounds like there's some funny stuff going on, a lot of the graphs I've seen of mapped 1.2 and 1.4 tsi engines are flatter but I hadn't seen any turbo swap or hybrid turbo graphs. I haven't seen any 1.4s running 230bhp let alone on the standard exhaust. It does seem to get strangled at high revs and I had expected a flatter curve

What do you mean "throttle bug"? It hadn't been mapped at all beforehand. He said in the later higher revs the cat is restricting the power as the exhaust gasses aren't getting out quick enough

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
Update on 1.2tsi turbo swap to the 1.4 unit and remap - full update at the end of the day. Just dropped my car off at Roadrageperformance.co.uk for them to work on today. 1st run result with no optimisation was 126bhp, mods are MST intake, forge BOV, APR coil packs, NGK platinum plugs and of course the turbo upgrade.

Hi flow turbo inlet pipe with resonator delete
Any idea where I could get an adaptor to do that. I have a silicone hose on my air intake and it connects to the factory 90 degree elbow but it looks restrictive and has a resonator attached I'd like one like you can get for the 2.0 or 1.0. At the turbo side it's a flat face the the elbow is screwed to so I need an adaptor for a hose to fit to

Which gen polo GTI is it? I've also got a Friedrich Motorsport cat-back system coming. I've gone with the hidden tip option so I don't need to cut the bumper

Do you have the 288mm discs at the moment? I got mk1 audi tt calipers, carriers and discs, dust covers but later found out that apparently the calipers are the same. There are updated calipers from a polo, is that what you have? I'm waiting for delivery, also waiting on B8 shocks for the front (rears are in my garage), whiteline arb. Been eying up some seats, I'd really like S1 seats but want to keep airbag functionality etc

Awesome, mine is booked in on 5th October with Road Rage Performance. Be good to see the results. Remind me, what other performance mods you've got

Turbo Swap Choices for EA211 1.2 TSI
Fitted my 1.4 turbo today, definitely more powerful compared to stock but doesn't feel as powerful as when I had the racechip on. The racechip is long gone now and the planned remap should truly transform the power output. Only thing I've noticed is that at stand still in neutral it will only rev to 4k, and as it hits 4k the forge dump valve goes off. It seems to drive fine though and pulls through and past 4k rpm. Is this normal?

Upraded injectors for 1.2tsi 110bhp
The Eibachs feel harsh to me and its definitely underdamped, B8s were expensive but read good things about them. Also got a whiteline rear ARB on the way too. Also just ordered a Friedrich Motorsport cat-back exhaust, somebody stop me!

Upraded injectors for 1.2tsi 110bhp
I just read about your 1.0tsi experience on another post. I'm struggling to find the time to fit my turbo at the moment. I wanted to try today but got stuck with other stuff. I've got a garage full of parts to fit and no time to fit them! A smooth 170 would be great in this little car, it would fly! Got some bilstein B8s on the way, I hope they will sort out the crashy ride
