How does this fit with right to repair regulations in USA? Its only going to encourage other sorts of behaviour.

Rear Springs
Hi have a 2013 Combi Just had a rear offside spring snap, I spent an age looking through forum to no avail. On checking colours on the spring it appears to be White Green Orange (its definitely more orange than brown especially seeing examples of brown on photos of springs in the forum) but I cannot find reference to these 3 colours anywhere. However white green brown equates to OE 1K0 511 115 DF But I am tempted to go with OE 3C0 511 115 AF for the slight increase in weight rating although it does list it as 1mm shorter. Autodoc lists them both as not compatible with my car. I am struggling to find in autodoc the right replacement bolt kit for the wishbone I would rather order from one place than several if possible. Any thought or guidance most appreciated, thank you in advance.

EA888 CDAA (Gen 2?) 1.8 potential crankshaft issue.
I have just had the second (thankfully at no cost) crankshaft oil seal replaced less than 1 month after the previous. The first seal was done with a new clutch flywheel and EVAP Purge Valve. The garage have stated that the engine a CDAA 1.8 TSI (fitted in an April 2013 registered Skoda Superb) has a history of crankshaft issues causing the seals to leak, and that they will not replace free of charge again. Does anyone know anything about crank issues on the EA888 Version no. CDAA (I think this is Gen 2)? Having spent several evenings on this I have not found any reference to crankshaft issues elsewhere and will go back to garage to ask. I need to dig out the service history to see what is mentioned about work done on the car previously, I have always known it has used a lot of oil but it wasnt high enough for me to worry about previously, I am thinking maybe I should be worried. THe car of late seems to be doneing fewer miles per tank of fuel, not sure if this is related. (I have seen one reference that suggests the coaking of the valves (by burning oil) and head leads to reduced fuel efficiency. So a head clean is on the cards. I have seen suggested that later Gen 2 engines may have had remedial or modifications done prior to leaving the factory, is this correct? If so how do I iddentify if this engine is a modified Gen 2? I understand that GEN 1 pistons and rings can be fitted to aleviate the oil usage, are there any other parts required? (it has been 20 odd years since I even took the head off a car let alone gone any further. Looking at the wider web I would be tempted to fit new chain and pullys, is this a highly complex job? Is there a guide on this site to help me? (I had a look but not found one). Anything else I should consider if I am going to strip the engine down? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Electric Combi boot issue
Hi all Having done a search can't see anyone with my specific issue. I suspect a failing strut. Regardless of button used to open boot: it opens about 200mm beeps and then closes. I can use the boot button to open it ok if I give it a tiny amount of support. It closes fine and stays up fine. Would this show up as a fault code? I have no warning light? A side note I have an OBD II cable that I got for use with my old BMW E39 can I use this with the software or do I need new cable? Thanks in advance.
