  1. I've been having issues with condensation, burning oil and misfires. It's a 1.6 BSE on a 2011 The condensation has got pretty clogged up in the breather pipe that's attached to the oil filler neck, I'm going to take the rocker cover out in the morning and use some gunk spray and try and clear it all out. It seems like this is going to be a regular service item before winter and during. There's been a lot of oil pulling through with the crank gas and there's a vent tube to the intake from the pcv directly to cylinder 4 which is just fouling the spark plug to the point it literally can't spark. I'm hoping to set up a new vent system blocking the old vent off and creating a new breather valve hole in the cover and using the round plate pcv (picture attached) and then having that to an oil catch can and then direct to the intake before the the throttle. This way it can be a lot easier to maintain it from clogging up and keep my engine cleaner. One thing I noticed on this engine is that there is no breather from the crank, it's all from the cam. So there's currently only 1 breather hole from the rocker cover. Has anyone done anything similar to this in the past.
  2. I managed to find the wiring diagram now, I'll post it on here incase someone comes across it in the future. Yeah the later one seemed like an easier install but just a bit trickier to source and are a lot more expensive. This one has 2 relays one for a low setting to heat one element, and the second relay to heat 2 elements, I'm going to use the original wire set up, but instead on the wires going to the ECU, I'm going to have them on a 2 way switch on the centre console, so I can control it manually, it's something I should have done at the beginning of winter instead of just after it lol
  3. Hi I would like to retro fit a aux electric heater to my 2011 MK2, part number 1K0963235F I can't seem to find the wire diagram on my workshop manual, only fuse locations and relays, but nothing on the heating element itself, I have found plenty of them on eBay, and can source all the cables and connectors. does anyone have a full circuit diagram available, or a link to any thread of people doing a retrofit, I've seen a few of the 1K0963235E but they are harder to get hold of. also has anyone ever installed one of these but bypassed the control unit, and just had an on/off switch?
  4. Thanks, I've always used that site but I had to use the old version of it, and they've stopped it now, I had a look at the new version but it wasn't giving a description of the part 😞 I've just bought a replacement from the part number so hopefully it sorts it
  5. Hi I have a 2011 estate with the 1.6 BSE engine. It started misfiring yesterday, and got an engine code for misfire cylinder 4. I've checked all the first checks like coil pack, leads plugs. The spark plug was covered in oil, and there was thick yellow gunk around the cap, looked more like condensation, I put a new spark plug in today and it runs absolutely fine. But there must still be an issue somewhere, I've checked my pcv valve and I can blow on it and suck on it and air can blow through each way without any resistance, could this be the cause of the oiled spark plug, and is it different on this engine for the pcv to be open both ways or should it be working as a check valve? I've seen some online for a reasonable price to replace it. Also If anyone can confirm this is definitely the pcv valve, I'm sure it is but just to check, thanks
  6. Hi I am changing my cluster as my current one is faulty, I have increased the millage on it to match my old cluster. I am going to swap the immo data over with vcds, but I'm struggling to get my pin. I have got a eeprom dump from my old unit and new unit, but I'm an struggling to decode the pin, I have seen a few hex codes like '5B 14' where there is 4 matching to convert hex 145B to decimal but there's quite a few patterns like this where there's a few matching. I've tried to upload the dump bin file to vag EEPROM programmer and vag edc16 calculator but it won't accept the bin file. Does anyone know how I can find my pin from the EEPROM dump, or a software I can use to locate the pin. Any help will be really appreciated, thanks
  7. Hi I have a fault on my instrument cluster fault code: B200049 faulty control module My car is a 2011 petrol. It keeps making a fault noise ding and telling me there is a fault, I am unable to clear the fault or source the issue, all wires in the harness are good, and not getting much more info from vcds, all other units a free of faults. I'd like to replace the instrument cluster, but obviously running in to the issue of immobilizer and milage correction, I've seen plenty tools online but for pre 2005 vag cars. I've got a steady hand for soldering. Would it be possible to get a new cluster and swap the EEPROM and IMMO chips over? Would this swap my current milage and IMMO data to the new cluster or is there more to it? Any help would be great, thanks
  8. Hi I got a new one with part number 5K0953569AE and it accepts cruise control and multi function steering wheel :)
  9. Thanks for the response, I think that's where I went wrong, for some reason my old BCM wasn't set to 00 on Byte 18, so when I've copied the coding to the new one it's changed byte 18. Turns out there was actually lights not coming on at the back, it was the 2 bottom ones, because they wasn't on I was guessing it was the brake lights, I ended up checking some different car presets on byte 18 before seeing this, and it kind of got a little bit weird, definitely irreversible, and couldn't go back. It ended up with no front side lights but the reverse light as a drl. And then swapped to rear fog light as a drl. But I got lucky on this one I tried "Skoda superb combi with separate drl" coding 31, and luckily all the light are working as they should with no bulb out light. In the future I'll definitely leave byte 18 alone, I didn't know about them being w3w I changed all the bulbs when I got the car in may so I won't need to worry about them going anytime soon, I seen the small bulbs and assumed they was w5w just of the look of them, I might change them to w3w thro just to keep the voltage happy on the BCM
  10. Hi I'm hoping somebody could help with a BCM issue. My car is a 2011 Octavia 1.6 BSE estate My BCM module is: 1K0937087AB I have a warning light on my dash for a bulb for the tail lights but on both sides, I've checked the tail lights and they all work including the 2 w5w bulbs on each side. Could this be an issue with the coding, it's a replacement BCM and I've copied all the coding over. On coding on Byte 18 on lighting there's a few different options of vag cars, the only Octavia option there is is for bi-xenon. Is there any other coding or any type of reset I can do for the BCM. It's not a major issue but I thought it would be handy to have it cleared so I can always have a heads up when a light does actually go.

  12. Hi i have a MK2 Octavia 2011 1.6 BSE engine. I recently took the instrument cluster out because the lights for the rev needle was dead, I disconnect the battery, carefully swapped the smd led chips over, and fitted it back in the car, reconnected the battery, turned the ignition, the new lights work but I'm left with an error message on the screen. I've done a scan and I got the code B200049 (faulty control module) I've spent the last few days checking the coding and adaptions, took it for a drive to see if it would re learn that it's ok. I've checked the harness for corrosion it's all clean, and I undid all the loom tape and all the wires perfect with no splits or damage. The gauges still work fine and the working lights all come on. Is there something I could have done to damage it when dismantling and changing the lights. I'm guessing I might need to replace the cluster if it is the module on the PCB that's failed. I'm open for any suggestions as it's really confusing me now. Ill add a scan report that I did today
  13. Yeah they are in a funny place compared to some vag cars that have the bulb in the headlamp, I'll update on here if anything fails on it
  14. Hi I've just bought a steering control on eBay to work with multi function steering wheel (5K0953569BG) I've installed it but now my cruise control won't work. And the buttons to change the instruction cluster screen for temperature, mpg etc My car is a 2011 estate, does anyone know if this module is made for steering wheels that have a separate stalk for cruise, and the buttons for display on the steering wheel itself, I've coded everything to work, like the cruise by turn leaver and the board computer control via wiper lever. I'm thinking this might be a bit too advanced for my car or should I have got the 5K0953569B Thanks for any help as this has got me scratching my head :s
  15. Thanks, it took a while for delivery, I've put some led p21w bulbs in and I coded it to led and it seems fine so far
  16. Does anyone know if you can replace the p21w DRL bulb for a led bulb, I'm guessing I would need a canbus filter. I know they need to be e marked but Im not sure if it's needed on a drl as it turns off when you put you sight light and main beams on :s
  17. Hi, no it's it's just a standard transmission, I ended up changing the thermostat yesterday after checking it, because I started the engine and kept feeling the hose from the thermostat housing, and it started getting warm before the engine had reached 90° and I used the laser thermometer and and both pipe in and put the engine was the same temperature, so it must have been stuck open. Now it's changed the outlet pipe is staying cold untill the thermostat is at 90° But the temp gauge is still going up and sitting around 60-70° for a while before the thermostat open and the coolant hits the temp sensor at the bottom of the radiator. I noticed there was a second temp sensor at the coolant inlet housing to the engine. I'm guessing, the sensor at the bottom of the radiator attached to the thermostat hose is the sender to the ECU. And the sensor at the inlet housing to the engine is the sender to the dash reading, and maybe the is why the coolant drop while driving because the coolant is changing the cycle :s but I can get 2 febi sensors for £18 so I'm thinking of just changing them anyway to be on the safe side. I'd prefer just one coolant sensor so the dash and ECU is on the same page lol
  18. Hi I have a 2011 estate 1.6 BSE 75Kw engine I have just changed the timing belt, and everything is running fine, and drives well, I've drove just over 80 miles since fitting it, I've took the cover off today to check the tension was still fine, but it is slightly off set. I loosened it up and re-tensioned it with the markings lined up, and torqued the nut to 23nm, I turned the crankshaft twice and it went back to being slightly offset. Is this a common thing on this engine or could it be a faulty tensioner, I've not seen it do this before on my old car. Would this cause an issue as it's only a bit offset, or should I contact SKF for a replacement tensioner, id be happy to strip it down and replace it to be safe, but if it's normal then I could leave it. Any help would be appreciated as it's puzzled me Thanks
  19. Hi I have a MK2 2011 estate with a 1.6 BSE engine. I have just changed my timing belt and water pump, but now when I'm driving the temperature gauge will get to 90 but then dips down to 60/70 and then back up to 90, this is during standard urban area driving and on the motorway. It was fine before I changed the coolant. Could this be due to air in the coolant system? I'm happy to change the thermostat and temp sensor if it needs be, but it's just strange how it was fine before then. I've done a scan on VCDS and nothing is showing :s if anyone has any advice that I could check I'll be greatful, thanks
  20. £150 isn't too bad for a second key. I ended up getting a second hand vag key and had to get a new transponder chip for it. My plan was to do the key matching on VCDS but it's been a ball ache because I can't find a way to get the pin number for the ECU/immobilizer without spending hundreds on equipment. I ended up buying a VVDI mini key tool from eBay I had another key I needed to do so it worked out the same price as it would do to get two chips cloned at timpsons, it's not a bad little tool thro. Yeah it can be hard work trying to get a transponder chip out without breaking it, I'm not sure if they are superglued in, if they are I think you can dissolve super glue with nail varnish remover, not sure if it will react with the glass or not.
  21. Thanks that link was handy to know, it's to sort an extra key out, but it's starting to look like it might be cheaper to just go to a locksmiths or buy a key clone machine from eBay, its just the transponder I need coding. I'm not fully clued up on VCDS still learning, so probably as far as I would go just yet lol
  22. I'm not too sure on that one, a code keeps coming up on security access, but it doesn't seem to do anything :s
  23. Wow that sounds a bit excessive for what I need it for, I'm wanting to add an extra key to my car with only getting 1 key when I bought it, I know you can do it on VCDS, but looking at how tricky it is to get the pin, I'm guessing that process will probably work more for pre 2007 cars. I think a trip to the locksmiths to get the transponder chipped. I've bought a key blade from eBay that the cut and send out, and I've got a second hand vag key and synced the remote.
  24. Sorry for the late response, the only one I've found is on the skoda-parts website that are around £80 and they post it from Czech, I don't know why these are so hard to find, I thought they'd be quite a few on eBay but I can't see any
  25. Hi I have a 2011 Octavia 1.6 BSE I would like to get the pin code from the ECU for the security log in for vcds. I've seen a tool online called Vag key login, but I messaged the seller with my ECU part number and they said it won't work. Does anyone know any obd tools I could buy that would be able to read the pin code. My mum has a 2008 1.4 seat Ibiza so I'm hoping it would work on that too. Thanks for any help
