  1. You might want to look at a 320d Touring, not as expensive as you might think. Also the Mini Clubman is quirky with a useful space. The newer ones are big cars, there is nothing mini about them. We've be happy with the build and reliability of the BMW group cars we've had (on our 4th).
  2. What they can't do is change inspection schedule to avoid a payout. There will also be guidance and rules around the inspection schedule for certain classes of road. Don't mistake 'guidance' in these cases for something which is optional. "Guidance" means it must be done and can only be changed with very strong reasons. If an authority is only inspecting a road evrey six months when they should be doing it weekly I'm not sure how that will affect your payout but it might, and even if it doesn't I'm sue the local press will be interested.
  3. I had a neighbour with a Mazda MX5, he called his "Dougal" because, "it was magic on roundabouts". Lovely chap John, really knew his wine, I'd go round to his to fix his often broken PC and come home bouncing off the walls as he gave me a bottomless glass of red whenever I was there. I had a few friends with MX5 as well, all got rid because they'd spun them on roundabouts in the rain. None of them saw this as a good thing. I think they wanted a car to look fast and drive like their mum's Fiesta. The Z3M Coupe has become a bit of a classic by all accounts. I thought it was much better looking than the convertable which always looked a bit clunky to me.
  4. Fast 4x4s, I don't really 'get' (says the owner of a JCW countryman).
  5. Buying another printer works for them, I guess.
  6. They're already knocking £20k off it?!? [edit] oops I read what you said now. You might get a decent deal again, but the reviews read like it's a bit of a turkey.
  7. https://www.topgear.com/car-reviews/bmw/x3-m For: Devastatingly easy to drive stupidly fast, if you like that kind of thing. Not the ugliest modern BMW. Against: Appalling ride. Mute handling. Engine lacks character. Too expensive.
  8. You'd be happy with an Octavia. I got my Mk2 VRS just a little before the birth of my first and it swallowed everything we threw at it. The volume of crap you will want to carry around will be staggering to start with and drop off fast after the first year. For a while you'll wish you drove a transit van, but not long. I managed a large silver cross pram and a mass of other stuff in a VRS hatch I'm not sure it would have all gone in a smaller car even a Golf. Longer term an estate would make more sense, if you can get something with fittings for roof boxes or bike racks you probably apreciate the option when you need it.
  9. I do like that green on a VRS. I'm a blue car guy, but the green is very striking, noice!
  10. Takes me back to my VRS days and discussions around running in the TFSI. The advice I finally followed was (basically) high throttle, moderate revs. Supposedly this gave the pressure to bed in the piston rings without excessive wear. TBH I think it might have been right. I did nearly 90k in that car from new and it was never an oil muncher.
  11. It's very much like a Disco/Defender hybrid. I genuinely quite like it. I usually do like things that are built to a purpose. This looks like a Tonka toy. I suspect it might be a rattly bag of bolts in real life (building cars well is not easy even if you are a billionaire, just ask Elon). The wash down interior is something I dreamed of on a car years ago. I'm interested to see how it does. I'm sure the pre-orders will do well, but we'll see how production deadlines hold up and how many pre-orders are followed through.
  12. Why are his feet upside down? Do I need surgery to drive an M car now? Is the driver very very big or is everything inside the new M4 very very small?
  13. Could be worse - I saw this when I was tkaing M/C lessons. Thought that was quite scary. I've never got close to a highside but I have felt the shimmy of a tank slapper a few times
  14. Lithium batteries are pretty impressive if thrown on a fire or even just punctured. Starting a fire in a bog is difficult but bog gasses are flammable in enough volume. I'm sure the rental ones will be of better quality but any damage to a lithium battery can result in a fire.
  15. But it'll be ugly, so so ugly. Plus am I wrong in thinking anything under 500hp just isn't worth it these days 😁
  16. I hereby predict... In a few months we'll have reports of - antisocial use of scooters scooters abandoned in random places scooters being used to start big fires drunk people using scooters crashing into crowds causing injuries the first reports of deaths by hire scooter accident In six months we'll have - Reports of a significant number of deaths of scooter users. A combination of losing control and heads being hit without helmets, and ploughing into traffic and ending up under buses. Police reqests for new laws etc to prosecute misuse of scooters Knee jerk legislation restricting use of the scooters to counter bad press about the deaths due to an "ill considered choice by Government in June" In 12 months - The death of the scooter hire industry as everyone realised that it's a bit of a stupid idea and you're better off with an electric bicycle or car
  17. https://www.carthrottle.com/post/this-is-the-ineos-grenadier-defender-successor/ The Ineos looks more Defender than the defender. I quite like it. But building a car is hard, this will probably be sh0ite for a few generations till they learn how to build a car, just like Tesla is having to learn.
  18. Poor bugger, it's being spread around he lost control not that he broke down and was thumped by someone not looking where they were going. Is that two roll over bars that have punched up through the roof?
  19. Stick it on the firewall in a DMZ. Might be a PITA to sort out ports but should tick most of your boxes. I don't know your business but for us guests on the network would be the biggest no-no. If printing was a requirement there we would probably have a second printer setup on a guest network via a seperate wifi SSID.
  20. Holy Fk that's some deal. Damn that slow opening front seat damn it to hell!
  21. I had thought the "Fermentor" which would also fit with the national psyche
  22. Sorry mate but it is 😁
  23. The badge is like something a 14yr old boy would draw. It's orrible.
  24. What else is on your network? If it's not internet exposed then a vulnerability on the printer isn't very serious.
  25. Do you need to apply the firmware? Is it adding any functionality you are missing?
