  1. J&H Autos in Thornliebank. You won’t get better service!
  2. For anyone else’s info it should be KX386 (Mahle)
  3. Ah!!! I’ve just had delivery of a Mahle KX492 fuel filter which the shop assured me was the correct fuel filter for my 2016 2.0 Octavia Scout, which I also gave the registration number for. It arrived and looks different from the cars previously fitted fuel filters. I like Mahle/Knecht filters but I’m a tad ****ed off at this supplier now!!!!
  4. I fitted a Witter with standard basic harness to my 2016 180ps Scout. Hooked up a heavy bike trailer and loaded it with a 260 Kilo motorcycle and travelled to Portsmouth and back to Glasgow with it. Faultless!
  5. Hi, I’ve already tried searching the forum for answers but to no avail. my ‘66 plate Octavia Scout didn’t come with a spare wheel- it was supplied with the compressor and sealant but I’ve since purchased a genuine 205/55/16 spare wheel. My car obviously has the wrong polystyrene in the spare wheel well and I also do not have the large diameter fixing screw to securely hold down the new spare wheel, nor do I have the polystyrene that fits into the wheel (that also has ‘cut outs’ for wheel removal tools). I have the jack etc. Could any of you knowledgeable people assist me as the wheel is taking up a fair bit of room on my boot floor and tbh I’m a bit OCD about things being where they should! Would I be able to take my car to a Skoda dealer and order what’s needed???? Any advice would be very much appreciated! Thank you.
  6. If I thought they would I would’ve asked! They aren’t overly fussed about any car forums.....suppose it’s because it’s their actual job and when the pull the shutters down at night, that’s it! They are just knowledgeable, honest and nice guys and I’m very lucky to be friends with them.
  7. I’ve had the car for over a year now. It’s a cracker! I’m well pleased. I’m getting the DSG transmission serviced as it’s sitting at around 53000 miles and I’d feel better knowing it’s been done.
  8. I fitted a Witter fixed swan neck to my 66 plate Scout yesterday afternoon. I got a fantastic bargain from Buchans For Towbars (Glasgow) The bar was “New-old stock” and I got it for the princely sum of £60 I fitted it in just over 2 hours and will go back to Buchans next week for the electrical work, which they’ve told me will be £90. If in future I feel the need for a detachable tow ball, I can purchase it (and the housing) and it slots straight into the existing bar. That would cost £120. gotta love a bargain! I’ll only use it to pull my motorcycle (on single trailer) down to Portsmouth for my bi-annual European motorcycle jollies.

  13. Looks like I’ve purchased a bad car! I purchased my 66 plate Scout on Sunday afternoon-less than a week ago! Drove it from Bowker Ribble Valley to Glasgow and it drove fine. I was happy. I drove it to my friends garage to let him see my new purchase and he instantly told me the car had a ‘dry pulley’ noise from under the bonnet. He advised me not to drive it just in case it was on the ‘timing’ side. I left the car with him and he removed the fan belt but the noise (chirp) was still there! So it’s a timing kit that is needed. £550 job. The car has covered 47,000 miles - surely this car should not be requiring a timing belt kit at its age and miles??? Im seriously considering giving the car back and demanding a full £14000 refund this weekend. Are there any thoughts on why this serviceable item could fail so early?
