  1. Makes it a bit of a false "secure feeling" really. Any thief worth his salt would most likely have each of the few ones that are available. I guess it still stops the casual thief though (maybe).
  2. Definately try another dealer if you have one locally - although "Lack of call backs" and unwillingness to go the extra mile (or just do what the rest of us would consider to be a "decent job" does sadly seem to be all too common at a good number (but not all) of the Skoda (and other VAG franchises) that I have dealt with in my 15 years of VAG ownership. Check that they are not part of the same "group" though. A call to Skoda CS would maybe oil the wheels a bit??
  3. Take keys out of the jeans pocket BEFORE taking the little blue pill 😂
  4. Ha ha.. and if you take your keys out of your pocket you will have no problems with either 😁
  5. True, And I dug up that old post about the boot and there is a quote "So it appears that, as I tend to keep the keys in my pocket, it looks like I am accidentally pressing the boot open button some time during the evening." Q.E.D. me thinks ?!?
  6. My old Karoq did the closing of windows and sunroof / sunroof blind with a long press of the close button too. The sunroof blind was pretty slow though so it must be a long press of about 20 seconds (assume its the same technology - which I think it is). It never randomly closed in the cold / overnight though. It did sense rain and close the roof if it detected it but never the blind. My guess is a button press - only you will know if that is feasible - wherever both sets of keys were at the time. Do you have a Poltegeist maybe - having a laugh at your expense?? Good luck trying to demonstrate / prove / convince skoda service on that one 😞 It doesn't inspire confidence though - if it really is doing it without a button press it makes you wonder what else it is doing that you don't know about. If it keeps happening then, if the car is on your own drive and has any kind of illumination, you could rig up a webcam/cctv on the windowsill pointing down out of the upstairs window to keep an eye on it for 24 hours. A tad excessive unless you are really suspicious and worried about it. You should see the hazzards flash and you might be able to see the blind moving. You can also keep an eye on the coming home and leaving home lights to see if they come on and off. Problem is, if it is an accidental press then it will never happen because you will be very vigilent during your investigations - then some months later when you forget about it a long press might happen again.
  7. is a mis-aligned LED headlight classed as "Dangerous" if its "too high" or a seat that reclines 1-2" when you fidget in it heavily or drive it for more than an hour or two??
  8. Like the ropey old DQ200 DSG box at £5k+ a pop 🙂
  9. For me I will book my car in the week before the 3rd year anniversary - just prior to the warranty expiring and ask for the All-in-one check. Any problems will still be under warranty at that point and its within the 7 days prior that you are supposed to be allowed to get the check done. That seems the safest route not to get caught out. I may also get an MOT done by a 3rd party garage (£35) in that week too so if any other little nuggets come along (like headlights not aligned properly or stress fractures of the headlight plastic or other faulty suspension bits, a drivers seat that likes to recline of its own accord, etc.). they will also (hopefully) be covered and fixed. e.g. the seat issue has been in twice and they said its fine. I half suspect an MOT inpector may have a different view in which case they will have no choice but to replace the seat frame.🙂
  10. In theory - yes. But this is Skoda / VAG service outlets we are talking about here. They have rules of their own and (some of them) do all they can be as generally unhelpful and unresponsive as they can. If it makes them more money and they are not breaking the law then that is the way they tend to go. At least that is my experience of my local shop with few others that I can reasonably get to. It's okay if you have a good one locally or are in a location where alternatives are at hand but in some parts of the UK you are stuck with what you have. There are a few other forum members in my neck of the woods who know exactly what I am saying.
  11. I guess I have to ask the dealer I use for servicing. If I ask them then they tend to only tell me "over the phone" so I have no proof of what they are telling me. If I email them, they tend to call me back (generally about 3 days later if I am lucky) and still tell me on the phone and not reply to the email with the information I ask for. If I ask them to email confirmation of conversations it tends not to be done. I only really have 1 garage to use here in my isolated location and they don't have the best reputation.
  12. For the incredibly thick (me) can you remind me how you do this in ERWIN. I have a free account and can login and look at my digital service record but I can't see all the TPI's and updates that were performed already and what one's might need doing (like I suspect the steering Firmware): Every other part of ERWIN I try to access I need to pay (that I can see). For example, I had the the update to the DSG DQ200 done when I purchased the car (refused to buy it at the supplying dealer until it was done) but I can see no mention of it in ERWIN. under the magnifying glass for the workshop remark when I purchased the car as an ex-demonstrator/Skoda owned "pool car" all I saw was: Good luck to the average driver being able to do even that TBH - Not exactly straighforward for the mass public 🙂 Thanks Paul
  13. The question is. If we are proactive and call our local servicing department and ask to get a car (still under original 3yr warranty) booked in so they can check if there are any outstanding software/firmware updates or TPI's to address issues that we don't know we might have then I suspect they will say that they will charge for that service unless it is booked in to address a specific known issue/symptom that we are experiencing. How does one approach this and ask in the right way to get all the firmware updates / software fixes and TPI's addressed "for free"? @Vectis presumably had no idea that there was an issue with his power steering. My next service is due a week or two after the end of my 3 year warranty so I am in a position where I cannot ask them to do all of those checks at my next service. Unless we all block book the 7 days prior to our cars 3 year anniversary and book the car in for its inspection within that exact preceeding week (assuming they can fit us in in that week) for the all-in-one inspection then we would have no recourse to get all the faults fixed under the original 3 year warranty "for free". thanks Paul
  14. I agree 100%. They are taking the Pith
  15. Sounds like you've been right ripped off to me.
  16. Isn't it just within the 3 years though in that case as that sounds like a warranty claim to me.
  17. OK Cool. Thanks. Normally in life if you are not sure if a manufacturer sells a product - the manufacturer would know when you went to the bother to reach out to them. Looks like Michelin are the exception to the normal rule. Bit crazy if you ask me but - hey - its their business.
  18. I emailed Michelin and this was their reply. I explained that it was being sold at Quikfit and Mytyres. I will give Kwik fit an email too. Quote: Thank you for contacting MICHELIN! I regret to confirm that there is not MICHELIN CROSSCLIMATE 2 in the mentioned size(215 50 R18) and we do not have estimated date of release either unfortunately, according to our database.
  19. I wonder what could be causing the extra wind noise. I will look around the actual window glass seals next to make sure they are not puckered/twisted and check for any dirt/gunk. I already did the Window reset procedure. It's not terrible noise but I can notice it a bit more than I did. Thanks Paul
  20. Ahh OK cool. Didn't realise you could have a DSG with a proper handbrake.
  21. Like my Wife's Fabia 🙂 I hate driving it. Anyone that thinks DSG is hard work only needs remind themselves / drive a 1.0TSi manual Fabia with an old style clutch and handbrake to know that they landed on their feet when they got a DSG in their Karoq. Every time from 1st to 2nd it feels like its going to stall - the engine labours so much - it rarely does of course I just wince each time. There seems to be far too much of a gap between 1st and 2nd gear (ratio). Trying a hill climb / descent in it at slowish speeds (over the moors/up and down dale) in 1st/2nd/3rd/2nd/1st etc... was probably the most miserable drive I have ever undertaken in the last 30 years. The wife stalled it several times and I could barely wrestle it into behaving like a normal car. Any more revs and its undriveable (for my limited skills anyway) any less and it stalls. Not driven a manual daily for a while but plenty of loaners and never seen a car like it. When I asked the garage to check the Fabia they told me it was all normal and fine. Yet another one of those trips to the garage where I was made to feel like a Wazak!!

  23. Careful - I can feel the blood rising in the WOKE brigade with that remark. 😂
  24. But.... If your driveway was very steep and you were 2 foot from a wall and wanted to get a little closer in a controlled and safe manner. That's when it can get a bit scary if your car is new. Don't bother unless you really really have to 😁 I have learned to slow down on approach to my garage (downhill on a bend) and then crawl to the final stopping place. No way on this God's earth would I want to try and inch closer once I have come to a full stop and Autohold had applied. I also have to reverse up my drive on a bend every day and I am now totally used to it. Would I let anyone else do it in my car of they were not 100% used to it? "no way pedro". Even if they were used to doing it in their manual car with an old fashioned handbrake - Nope!! They don't know what its going to try and do and why - they don't know the "technique" to feather / control the throttle in that scenario without practice. Let them practice on someone elses pride and joy. I would reverse it up and around and then let the other person jump into the drivers seat and take it from there.
