Side Signal/Indicator and Clicking Noice
Agreed. For me it is normal (if it is a faint clicking x2 - one at the start of the turning of the wheel and another when on about half full lock). If it is an abnormal type of sound then the garage would very quickly know. Your only choice really is to ask another mechanic at another garage to listen to it and give a verdict if you don't trust the selling dealership. You could ask them to show you on another car of similar age and that would put your mind at rest as they all have this self cancelling mechanism built-in.

£30 charge for Courtesy car!!!!
It does seem to vary wildly and I also expect it depends where the car came from originally. I have also found that it is good to get one service desk contact that you get on well with and stick with them. Always ask for them by name when the phone is answered and wait for a call back from them if they are busy. They have discretion on the charges and a good relationship with one person (who will also get to know you) is worth its weight in gold.

£30 charge for Courtesy car!!!!
I think they will do if you go direct but if you can justify (are allowed) to call skoda assist (if the car is not driveable/leaveable outside/unsafe/at risk) AND it is a warranty item (this will be confirmed by Skoda Assist on the visit) then you are entitled to 48 hours hire car and then, my understanding from Skoda Assist is, the repairing garage will provide you with a car with the cost covered by the warranty. If the repairing garage say they don't have a car available (and you are at the end of your 48 hours hire period), I was told by Skoda Assist to call Skoda UK / Skoda Assit back and that the either the Skoda warranty will extend the hire period or compel the garage to provide a car at no additional cost (until the warranty repair is completed). they will then magically find a car for you and you should not pay. All of this is, obviously, irrelevant for a standard service or standard non-warranty repair.

Front knocking noise from LHS (we think)
Very careful. some of the panels are stupidly thin these days (well the roof is at any rate - not that you would need to be pressing that very hard in this case 🙂 )

£30 charge for Courtesy car!!!!
Mine is the same - £20 I think for a courtesy car at a routine service now. They waived it for me this time round as a goodwill gesture. All of the authorised repairers/service shops pledge to be able to offer you a free lift back home or to your local place of work (if within 10 miles) and drop the car back to you at that location all for free. They don't like doing it tough so don't be surprised if the charge for a courtesy car simply evaporates when you say you want all of that 🙂 Problem is that you will probably be hanging around for ages waiting for the courtesy lift so if its a scheduled service then its probably just easier and less stressful to get it booked in for 9am and tell them you will wait. If you are lucky you might get it back by midday 🙂 This is a screen print from Skoda's website: Some of the dealers (e.g. a certian Seat dealer about 20 miles from me) even offered to take me all the way home and drive the car back to me at completion for free - all part of the service of this small independent (but authorised service agent) for all VAG cars. The 10 miles is the minimum and anything above that varies from dealer to dealer I expect. In addition to this, If you have a factory warranty still or an extended package like the All-in-one with them, and the car is in for a warranty claim then, as long as you go via Skoda Assist, you are entitled to a free hire car for a few days and then the repairing garage apparently has to provide a courtesy car free of charge for you after that (I was told this by Skoda Assist). It surprised me because it was initially going to take at least 1-2 weeks to fix my wifes car (as the window motor failed under warranty) when she called the garage direct. On the call they made no mention of using Skoda Assist to get a free hire car. They did not even suggest calling Skoda Assist (which in hindsight was pretty poor of them - I guess they knew it was not going to be to their advantage for her to do so). They would not offer a free courtesy car on the phone to her. We both said "B*gger that for a game of soldiers" and we called Skoda Assist (as the car was not safe to leave with the window down and non-operational). They came to our house within 30 minutes, diagnosed the fault, taped up the window hole (it was raining) and then followed us to the garage. We left the car with the service centre (who looked very "po faced") about the whole situation. They also treated the Skoda Assist man like dirt which also surprised me (but not him by all accounts). The Skoda assist man gave us a free lift back home (as the hire car was not available until the following morning). The hire car was delivered to our home address. Due to engaging with the stealership in this manner the repair went from 1-2 weeks (with no car) to under 48 hours. It's funny how the repair was done in under 48 hours when the garage knew they were going to have to supply a free loaner car for anyting above the 48 hours. Lesson Learned! I had a long chat with the Skoda Assist man on the way home and he did say that some of the service centres are good like this, some are bad and some are just plain ugly (mine apparently was the latter of the three - the worst he had ever seen were his precise words). Skoda Assist were exemplary 10/10 🙂

Exterior Silver Trim on Windows - Aluminium, Chrome or Plastic and Coated or Not - And how to restore??
Hi All, 2019 Skoda Karoq with metal "Chrome Style" trim. I popped on some Bilt Hamber Auto Foam on and must have left it too long or the sun must have shone for a bit. It dried out on some of the bright work around the windows. Washed the car and polished it as usual and all well except the metal shiny trim around the doors has "popped bubble" type marks over it on one side of the car. I wanted to get working on it. Can't afford to have the trim replaced so I will have to make do and do the best job I can. I have done some research and it seems the trim could be one of: Plastic with Chrome and then clear Coated Actual Chrome plated metal (v v unlikely) Polished Aluminium with some sort of Clear coat Polished Aluminium bare Something else. Does anyone know, for this car what this trim is actually make from? I have already tried: A hard rub with some regular polish Manual cleaning with t-cut and a teatowel A dremmel (on slow-ish) with buffing pad and some lapping paste (W10/1000 grit for about 10 minutes on medium speed along an 18 inch section). This has improved it a little but not really enough. Can anyone definitively let me know what the actual material is and what my best course of action might be (other than replacing the trim obviously). Thanks All. Paul

If not Touranzas, then what?
The fact is that there is a "campaign" out called EU24 on cars "With" the DSG gearbox as well as the manual gearbox" that is there to help fix some stalling/lumpiness issues. You need to ask them about this and whether it has been done and whether it should be. https://www.karoqforums.co.uk/viewtopic.php?t=566

If not Touranzas, then what?
What I do remember is that I had to insist the the selling dealer carry it out as a condition of my purchaing the car (following advice). Take no notice of the 24EU being only for Manual cars either. Mine was done and its a DSG.

I have a suspicion it may be a recall called 24EU but I may be wrong. My complete record shows that 24EU was carried out. https://car-recalls.eu/official-vw-skoda-and-seat-recall-for-some-bouncing-1-5-tsi-engines/

As far as I know the TPI firmware and software updates for the DSG can only be done by VAS and the VAG garage. They will have a record of it if you pop in to your local VAG garage and ask for a copy of the complete service history I suspect it will be recorded in there. I might be wrong though. Others will have a definitive answer on that one.

If not Touranzas, then what?
Hi, They should know. Worth asking the question. They are also meant to check for any Firmware / Software updates during a service so if it hasn't been done then make sure they don't try to charge you (even if it is over 3 years old).

Thinking about it more - I only ever remember it using D1 if I was in S mode (i.e. S1) - even when crawling (with the foot off the gas) in traffic (unless I'm going up a hill and crawling). Have you talked to the stealership about it? Perhaps there is a software update that is missing. I did have all my updates done back in 2020 (do do with Kangaroo-ing and such).

That's very odd then. 1st gear is terrible and jerky. My car has only ever gone into 1st gear on a couple of occasions when actually moving. When I move off it goes to D2 almost instantly and in some situations it even starts off in D2 as far as I'm aware. D1 only if crawling (1-2mph). Sounds like something might not be right there???

Do you want it to go from 3rd to 2nd? Mine seems to behave okay in that regard with speed humps. You could pop it into S mode as you approach the speed hump area and see if that makes it behave more in the way you desire - however - on my DSG it is pretty happy to go fairly slowly over the humps with little jerkiness. You might need to "feather" the throttle in a slightly different way (at slightly different points) to anticipate the hump and get the car to the speed required to make the change (in order to force it to behave just how you want). I often find myself overriding the gear selection (especially when going downhill). I don't personally like the fact that if you are going down a hill and touch the brake it immediately changes down from D7 to D6 or even D5 and will not change back up unless you actually press teh accelerator. In these situations, e.g. in D7, I do the brake (for maybe 1 second - just to anticipate something), the car drops to D6 or D5 and I then immediately use the paddles to go back to M7, leave it for a few seconds and then use the same paddle (2 second press) to go back to D7. I feel this is saving me fuel and not revving the engine (and wearing out parts) unnecessarily. If it were in the winter however I would not generally do this so as to give the battery a chance to regenerate a bit more quickly (I always disable Auto Stop/Start too for that reason amongst others).

Approaching 3 years of ownership, the good the bad and the ugly!
I had an old Tiguan Auto DSG from 2009 - 2019 and it was on long life service for all of its life. I only did around 8000 miles per year and I never had an issue. The truth however (imho) is that the long life service intervals don't really save you that much money as each service is pretty much a major one rather than Small, Big, Small, Big and.... All of the really expensive items (like Cambelt/Water pump, Brake disks, Haldex Servicing) are not affected by being on one or the other. I did have a major song and merry dance every time it was serviced however. Whenever they reset the service indicator it shoved it back over to annual regime and I had to insist (each time) that they take it back in and change it over manually to variable. I am guessing that was because it was PDI'd to annual (against my express instructions) when I purchased the car from new. It used to really pi*s them off but I was adament and they did not have a leg to stand on. I also only had it serviced at VW for the first 3 years and then used a VAG Specialist for all future work (as I feel they did a more thorough job). Maybe that's the answer - find a mechanic you trust and stick with them. I also had the moon roof and did not service it in 10 years and it was faultless (but I did make sure the drains were kept clean and I did clean and lubricate the rails and hinges with various PTFE and Silicone sprays and gels. This time around (with the Karoq) I did specifically go onto annual servicing and also took out All-in-one for years 4 and 5 (as the warranty seemed to be prudent with the DSG) but from Year 6 I will be back to the independants for all the work and even in the interim, I will use the Indies for Brake work and such like.

If not Touranzas, then what?
My Turanza's on the front were down to 3mm after 13,000 miles. I don't drive especially hard. It's down to the lack of grip and the wheelspin imho.

Screen dims
Mine does this too - for me it doesn't just go dim though - it dispalys the temperature setting of left and right in the upper two corners of the screen for a moment and then disapears and the screen goes back to normal.

Picking up 2019 Karoq Sportline 2.0 TSI - First things to do?
AFAIK (was the case in my 2010 VW with Haldex) - the Haldex is always active in normal driving at 80/20 Front/Rear. When you first start off it starts out at 50/50 for the first few seconds (to help avoid wheelspin on the front) and then it switches to 80/20. You can feel this change (well you could in my old Tiguan with an old fashioned "planetary" auto gearbox). It felt almost like a phoantom gear change. This is all the time regardless of the road conditions and how you drive. It's in addition to the constant changing of the Front/Rear ratio in slippery conditions etc. regards Paul

Replace key battery message
I meant to say: Well I fitted a new 2032 into one fob and a 2025 into the spare (as I ran out of 2032's). The 2032 did fit but I did have to fiddle a bit with a cocktail stick to press down the battery when I popped the lid back on. The 2032 does not seem to hold itself down in the hole like the 2025 does. Got there eventually but if I was in a dark car with no power then I would not want to try and fit the 2032. If not careful you could easily mash the white gasket on the lid.

Skoda All-in-one Heads-Up - price reduction
True, And the VW plan is a little more and the Audi plan a little more still. I guess the plan pricing follow the difference in the servicing prices (that are also different) and the list price of "similar" cars together with the differing price of some items that "could" be covered under warranty (e.g. some trim items of differing quality, different/more door sealsetc. - not that they will be covered most likely). I guess if you want the cheaper price for the All-in-one then you could have always purchased the Seat 😆 It's still a good value plan in the scheme of things imho.

Skoda All-in-one Heads-Up - price reduction
Just a heads-up for those taking out an all-in-one plan for their 3YO cars. The price has reduced from £32pcm to £29pcm. Bit of a bonus for me as I have 2 cars that are getting the plan this week 🙂
