  1. 2005 Skoda vrs Has a sporadic and hit and miss braking issue....... Some applications it puts your head through the windscreen other pedal will travel to the bottom, and you have to release to build pressure back up! I’ve tested the brake fluid (albeit with a cheap tester pen of flea bay) and it informed me it needed changing..... I’ve had a lot on loosing a parent and it’s on my “to do” list, but after speaking to a garage this morning he said “it’s more than likely” the master cylinder and advised replacing it as the seals weaken with time hence the sometimes f1 brakes and other times Fred flintstone braking? I’ve no fluid loss, nor no lights on dash vrs is a well looked after full service history example and not abused what’s peoples thoughts ? The slow long pedal travel seems to be when applying brakes more gradually if that info helps
  2. Fixable ? Easy to spot ? I’m no expert but will have a go...... worst location ever to get to fill it up 😳
  3. Bit of an update, no fluid (or not very much at all in power steering reservoir........ battery and fuses fine! So either been slightly leaking, or bit of a big leak? Getting some fluid now and topping up. Question is...... Any common places for it to leak from, can’t see any obvious traces of leaks, but not removed engine bottom tray cover
  4. Checked battery sold 12v and 14.2v running, what’s the common fault ? And I’m located Rotherham I’ll clean it up anyway, ain’t gonna do it any harm I’ll clean up anyway, ain’t gonna do any harm
  5. Steering angle sensor ? Only got a cheap code reader but not showing any faults ?
  6. Just a case of some cleaner and unscrewing each fuse, I’ve got some glue and tar remover
  7. It was just dirt 👍🏻 Just a case unscrewing and cleaning ?
  8. Thanks for the tip I’ll have a look! Why dreaded expensive and difficult ?
  9. Evening all, Got a sporadic issue where my power steering feels like it’s failed for a second or Two then comes back to life...... Scanned with a cheap code reader no faults, haven’t inspected the power steering fluid (start cheap work to expansive) as it’s designed location beggars belief!!!! Battery and charging absolutely fine..... So I guess my question is does anyone have any pointers, has this happened to them ? It’s a Skoda Fabia 2006 vrs, well looked after example. Cheers People
  10. Right took plug off set multi meter to ohms (200) each of the x4 connectors measured 01.0 except one measured 01.1 so presume plugs ok and looking more to the actual module, only seems to throw an eml on cold starts ?
  11. Top man much thanks for that 👍🏻
  12. Got a multi meter not great with it....... any advice on setting etc etc, will check rest of advice and report back
  13. Afternoon All, I’ve got a 2006 Skoda Fabia 6y 1.9vrs Starts and runs as it should last few days I had eml light on, so bought myself a cheap scanner and it came up with p0684 pointing towards Glow plug module located at side of battery compartment. I cleared the code, contact cleaned the wires and module made sure it was a snug fit and no snagged wires. Fault didn’t come back till this morning upon starting checked again and same code...... has anyone had experience on this and how did they sort it? New control module, glow plug fault, wire fault etc etc. Car has huge sentimental value to me and want to keep it in pristine condition
  14. thats music to my ears!!!!!! Annoying fault
  15. Right found wire running to white block connector (into a pillar) has some bare wire showing........ Upon close inspection , I did a temp fix of wrapping with electrical tape and now does it much less but not a perm fix! What’s best way to split and join the wires ? I’ve got a spare loom coming soon, so will have a identical gauge wire, and I’ve got some heat shrink to wrap it In....... Just want to put a final end to this nightmare
  16. Try Chris Bellmans son I Sheffield
  17. Thanks for the reply I’ll have a look I presume you are on about at the top side of the boot, the thermal protection side of things, Chris Bellman said it was because the lock is constantly locking and unlocking itself. Must admit bugging me now, and yes anti social too 🤦🏻‍♂️
  18. Afternoon, Had car scanned (2006 1.9 vrs) and came back with the following Faults..... 01031 - Central locking key switch; Drivers side; Unlock 27-00 Implausible Signal. 01308 - Central locking Thermal Protection 35-00 symptoms are locking and unlocking itself whilst driving and stationary, alarm going off at random times etc etc!!!! Now I’ve replaced the drivers side door mechanism (non genuine) and I’ve also replaced the drivers window and locking module! Whilst doing this I looked for broken wires from the door seal, into the door and didn’t spot any..... I’m wanting to sort this out as quick as possible..... Any one have any pointers ? Seems to happen more if car wet/been washed but not conclusively ? Much Thanks in Advance, Ade
  19. Found these? https://www.toolstation.com/dome-head-rivet/p90661?store=R4&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI1K3dgsaq6gIVTOztCh3-BwsjEAQYASABEgLv0PD_BwE
  20. I suppose self tapping would be frowned upon?
  21. Afternoon all, Fabia Mk1 6y vrs 2006 Had my car scanned and its pointing to the drivers door mechanism been faulty, car locks and unlocks itself whilst driving and once parked up. Triggering the alarm and generally been annoying.......... I'm completely new to Skoda having usually driven vauxhalls (Don't judge me) I've sourced a new door mechanism and done some research and believe some skins are 10mm bolts and others use rivets... Knowing my luck i presume they will be riveted, does anyone know the rivet size as i don't mind getting a riveter as i'm sure its one of those things that at some time i'll use again and wont be able to find.... Or have people had success with self tapping screws the car is low miles and in mint condition and i'm wanting to keep it that way so any advice tips will be very much appreciated!!!!!!!!!
