Steering wheel upgrade.
Being honest that's very ambitious. Changing age like-for-like you'll need the airbag wiring loom (easy), steering wheel controller module (easy, just needs programming, can be expensive). Moving to a MK3 you'd need, loom (cheap, easy), wheel (expensive), steering wheel controller module (VERY expensive). Early MK2 Octavia use a common controller. Later MK2 use the more expensive controller. Oh, you'll need a new wiper stalk too, as the wiring changed on later cars. Took me 2+ years to finally have all this resolved. Just buy a DSG car, with MFSW already installed, save yourself the stress.

Water pooling passenger door
Hi all Had my Octavia for 3+ years now, always noticed water towards the front of the passenger door but never really thought any of it, until I start reading about seal issues. Boot was the easy one, add some holes to the seal. The door has me a bit confused. The door seal looks "fine". I've had the doorcard off in the last 6 months to change the mirrors and didn't notice any excess moisture. But it definitely looks like water is coming from between the seal on the car and the door card. The seal on the car is wet around 2/3 of the way around at the bottom, and up to the split in the seal on the front of the door aperture. Is there a "known" fault here to look for? The drivers side is 100% dry. Cheers

Clicking noise from dash
Does this signal a fault or just how it is?

Can someone provide an Autoscan from a FL car with MFSW?
Been a 2+ year endeavour getting all this working. It's not fun at all 😞

I would like to specifically know which steering control module you have, and also where the steering angle sensor is located (G85). I am trying to fit a 2010 MFSW wheel to a 2007 Octavia, but realise now they use a different slip ring with everything combined. Thanks:)

Looks like need 5K0-953-569 to use the FL MFSW I have. What a hassle.

MFSW problems
To revive an old thread but we're still not there. Am I right this combination should work? Clock spring - 1K0959653D Controller - 1K0953549CH steering wheel 3T0419091K 3C8971584A - harness Is there anything I'm missing? I have 1K0959653c clock spring at the moment and think that is causing issues with button presses not recognised but at this stage I have no idea? If someone can help me a bit, would appreciate. Tried following some comments here; but I don't have those options in the steering controller #16

Lifesaver! How can I get access to this forever?

Any other issues? Has anyone plugged it in to see codes?

Rear end suspension / chassis overhaul - part numbers required
Hi everyone. I have finally decided to sort the rear out on my octavia, due to tracking being impossible (seized bolts). I envisage keeping the car another 3-5 years, warranting the expense. I'm now looking at what else that needs to come off I might aswell replace. I'm going to do the rear suspension, every single component including genuine bolts. I'm replacing all the obvious interlinked parts that attach to or near the rear arms. I won't drop the subframe, unless there is some evidence the bushes wear out a lot. I'm struggling to find an easy to use overview of all the bolts I need. I have the eccentric ones already (genuine), but the rest I want to make sure I have a new one to go on. Whilst I have all these bits off, is it worth doing anything else? Some corrosion treatment? Once I have all the bolts and nuts, plus all the components, I'm going to write a guide as nothing has come up, though I suspect a few have replaced these parts before. Thanks, Taz

Looking for Low Maintenance Motoring
So you didn't look after your car and it still managed to do 195000 miles? Sounds like owner, not car, being "not as good".

Looking for Low Maintenance Motoring
Early CR weren't great, although not sure if that's limited to the 1.6. I'd just get one of the last 1.9's

Octavia 2 key coding
I've been through countless threads and never seen a definitive answer on who can code keys. I have VCDS - what do I need to code a key on a 2004-2013 Octavia? If I need a code, where can I get this either free or cheap? I understand Timpsons can do it but they will copy the key, not actual programme a new one to the car? I have a key from Aliexpress with the same part number as a new key from Skoda. How can I get this to work? Thanks

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
I mean, that sounds like a seat tensioner plug to me?

Misfire 1.9 tdi between 1.5-2.5 plus a minor lump idle
I don't believe in this stuff, if there was an injector issue it'd come up on VCDS.

Clock spring (Squib) broken.
http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index.php/Steering_Wheel_Control_Module_Versions Match what you have to one on here. The picture you've taken isn't the squib, though. Type 1: 1K0-959-653 and 1K0-959-653-A Type 2: 1K0-959-653-C and 1K0-959-653-D I have a 2007 and i fitted 653-C Just buy one with the exact same part number if there's one available.

Misfire 1.9 tdi between 1.5-2.5 plus a minor lump idle
Hi all As title. I've changed the injector loom, this seemed to sort it for a moment (I also cleaned the throttle body and as much of the inlet as I could get to without taking it off). The only error codes I have in VCDS are glow plugs, and I've been advised they aren't required so I ignore this. The EML has never displayed, not even a flash (it does work). Mileage 153k, serviced every 6-8k miles (half yearly). I'm also getting a small lumpy idle, but it's not too bad, but when the misfire stopped, the lump idle did too. I'm not ruling out turbo vanes, but given it's on idle aswell? What do we think? Not scared of taking stuff off to clean. I plan to get the inlet off to clean soon, could also pull the turbo off and check operation while I'm at it. Cheers

Octavia Mk II heating/cooling: Heater blows hot air randomly when set to cold
Have you plugged it in? My left vents blow colder than right. I've narrowed it down to the temp sensor in the left hand side vent. You can get around it by selecting the feet blower aswell, which seems to override the reading coming from the vent. I've checked all the flaps work using VCDS and the only thing now being a problem is the sensor. Get someone to plug it in and check

Replacing air con condenser
Did this job last night, took me 6 hours. Rusty bolts are going to be the biggest problem. I recommend getting a full set of undertray bolts to replace the ones you take off. I'd also prepare for some of the 12 multisplines to be hard to get out, and replace them when you do. If you're in any doubt about what's failed, change the compressor at the same time.

Need the cover for the rain sensor (VRS)
I managed to get the mirror and plastic in full. I don't advise trying to remove any of this, bound to break the clips. Lovely plastics getting worse every generation of Octavia.
