DSG gearbox question
Good point re phone reading, as I should know as sometime use my phone or read posts. Couldn’t edit my first post but the car is a 2020 2.0TDi 4x4 DSG, 7 speed variety. How can I find out which DQ### it is?

DSG gearbox question
Hmmmm, is that “sealed for life”, or in other words, “sealed until it packs up outside of warranty”? I’ll prob sort something out at 4 years or 40k, if I hit that first.

DSG gearbox question
Cheers, that makes sense. With the mileage I do I’ll prob hit oil change on time rather than distance.

DSG gearbox question
Daft question but does the DSG auto box have oil in it? Reason I ask is I’ve seen reference to “dry” DSG box. Hence no idea if it needs an oil change or not, and if it does how often is on the service schedule, or advised by fellow users which may well be more frequent.

2018 Karoq 4X4 SE - Weak Headlights
I came from a series of LRs with xenons so light colour took a bit of getting used to, but found actually seeing with them fine for likes of A9 between Perth and Aviemore. Good enough to spot the red deer lurking beside the road. Thanks for the info re warranty, will be there in 2 years. Nothing like being prepared.

2018 Karoq 4X4 SE - Weak Headlights
Have same car, just a bit newer, and don’t find the headlights too bad, just a bit yellow which I’ve gotten used to them. For £20 or so might be worth getting a set of upgraded bulbs to see if that makes a difference. Alternatively, do you have any bulbs of the same type (say from spare bulb kit) to see if the original ones are failing and becoming dimmer? Either way it’s a pretty cheap “try and see” route. Just out of curiosity, how much did it cost to extend the warranty and for how long/how many miles?

Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
My case was temp +2c, car fully warmed up and minimum toys switched on, latter mainly coz of not that many toys to switch on, no change to key position. Heated rear screen was off by this time, as was my newly discovered heated mirror switch. I’d just pulled up to stop at a junction, pulled away thinking “that’s odd” and then pulled over at the side of the road and same, no engine stop. Not too worried as I usually switch SS off anyway, I’d just forgotten to do so this time. Thinking low battery pay charge might be the issue.

PS Just been out, can’t find any settings for heating mirrors. Will have another look when the car is nice and warm.

Removal of mudflaps
Petrol blue car without mud flaps. No beet lorries but normal rows and a muddy puddle that was a bit deeper than I thought and I might have been a little fast for it. That was back in September, must confess still not washed her.

Thanks for that, I didn’t think of looking in the settings. Will have a mooch next time I’m out in the car.

Cheers, thought it was the case. I’m going to stick some tape over the neg terminal with an arrow pointing towards the earth point. Not red tape of course, that would just plain confuse me.

2.0tsi Karoq sport line
@e-Roottoot What I’m planning to do. Once I get my hands on them, which will depend on Queen Nichola opening the border again.

@CJJE When you find an nice easy place to sell your summer tyres can you sell my In Laws’ similar tyres? They swapped on to Michelin CC+s when the car was virtually new. It’s part of my thinking for getting a 2nd set of wheels and full winter tyres, means in the life of the car I should get my money’s worth out of the ones they fitted in the factory. Man Maths in action!

Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
@JonVonWeston Unfortunately mine being a basic spec car (which seems to deffo have many advantages from electronics point of view) I don’t have any of the luxury items like heated seats and heated screen. And in winter I miss both!! All I had on was DRLs and radio. Agree re the mirrors, agreed, it’s a tad annoying. At least now I can properly demist my mirrors now! @e-Roottoot Deffo over 16c between inside and outside. The heating was cranked up to 24c!! @SurreyJohn Never seen a grey bar on the top if the infotainment system, apart from when I change the heating setting manually. Will have a fiddle. I might bung the car on charge, do I just connect to the battery terminals or is it like jump starting, +ve terminal and the spur piece connected to the -ve terminal?

Another pic from up in the hills. We had about 6 inches of snow over the w/end but it’s mostly now puddles with a little still piled up at the side of the road. Still some white stuff up in the Cairngorms though. Loving Petrol Blue in its Dark and Moody mode.

Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
Couple of quick questions from a little jolly just now. Re both, consulted the pretty rubbish manual but to no avail. Re Stop/Start, is it temp dependant? I usually just switch it off after I start the car but, forgot this time and found that on stopping after about 10 miles the SS didn’t cut in. Is this temperature related? Today’s drive was between +2 and +4.5c. And re the external mirrors, I’ve finally figured out why they weren’t demising. I assumed that the mirror demist was on the same switch as the rear window demist, as with every other car I’ve ever owned that had heated mirrors. Once I clocked the “heat the mirrors by twisting me round to to here you idiot” position on the mirror adjust switch they were cleared pretty quickly. To my question, is this on a timer so if I forget to switch it off then it will switch off after so many minutes? Means I don’t have to be too paranoid re switching them off, or alternatively in winter just leave in the heated pos so they come on automatically. Thoughts?

Decision Day
Or do what my ILs have done, stuck them in the shed with naff all miles on them waiting on me selling them. Shame I’m almost 600 miles away.

Winter wheels?
First outing on the white stuff. OK, not exactly DCE (deep and crisp and even) but let me have a little play to get some feel for the tyres. And they feel exactly the same as they did last time I took the car out. I did do a couple of brake tests and pretty happy with the slowing down, took a bit of firm braking to even get the ABS kicking in. Proper snow is forecast for throughout the weekend so might go out again then. Gratuitous pic of course.

Oops, didn’t spot that, even with the badge. New to Skoda and still getting to grips with model recognition.

Makes sense. Hopefully it gets sorted and at least no-one was hurt.

With the damage to the Karoq & RR as it is, the Karoq being parked, the RR driver must have been driving down the pavement. Was the Karoq on the other side of the road from where it started off?

Must been out for a little drive in the little bit of snow we’ve had, mostly to try out the winter tyres before the proper snow arrives this weekend. Booooooooootiful day up in the hills. Glad to report very happy with tyres.
