Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
Interesting read, esp re disconnecting the SS sensor. Not quite brave enough to try that yet but is this the cable that would need disconnected? Don’t suppose just switching it off religiously achieves the same? I am looking at a trip next summer to NE Finland, CV permitting, that will involve some reasonably remote roads (from experience few other cars and no mobile signal, unusual in Finland) so having a battery I know is as full as possible would be a weight off my mind.

dealing with sticky wiper blades on a relatively new karoq
As above. Bought these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00W1KKYUI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 in Aug, factory fitted blades now reside in landfill somewhere. 👍

Yes, charging in situ and using the “prong” instead of the -ve terminal. I haven’t been out since charging her, will take her for a spin tomorrow and see if SS is working.

Will have a look at that tomorrow.

Re Skoda coming out: Cheers, that’s great news. Re charging: Agreed, nothing to loose, will get her hooked up again & leave her on overnight.

Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
After several hours on charge yesterday the battery should be fully charged but this morning it was only up to 12.5V and the green indicator still showing on the battery. I won’t be out until middle of next week and will see then if SS is playing. If it’s not I’ll see what I can do re getting it sorted after NY. That’s complicated by the fact that my closest Skoda dealer is over 100 miles away after the closure of the Inverness one. There is still VW dealer, for now, will see if I get pointed that way.

Answering my own question's about the MY21 1.5TSI SE
Welcome to Club SE! There doesn’t seem to be too many of us but when I see the hassle the higher model drivers have with their “extras” I think the SE is ideal, esp with GoogMaps via CarPlay. I haven’t looked at the specs of a 2021 SE but interesting to see changes to Skoda Connect, USB connectivity, cableless Car Play and keyless start. I also don’t like keyless entry, it’s too big a vulnerability with piggy-back thefts. Re the seats, I (in normal times) do mostly long drives and the longest I’ve done is 600 miles and got out without the usual aches and pains that I’d have normally had, the seats are that good. I do miss heated seats and steering wheel that my Disco4 but the SE I bought (ex demo, registered 6 months before I bought it) had a very good discount (£10k/32% off list) so I can Iive with it. Enjoy your new ride. PS And good choice of colour, but I would say that!!! Don’t forget pics.

Climatronic odd behaviour on heating - inner centre vents don't blow hot air on Auto
I’ve never used the Auto function and have never noticed cold air from the centre vents after the car engine’s got some heat in it. Something else to have a look at next time out.

skoda connect app only shows log book, trip planner and service partner options.
Ordered one, if it gets here early enough SWMBO can wrap it!

Does that give you anything different from just being plugged in via the USB socket and running the app?

Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
12.15v this morning, still in the green on above chart but will keep an eye on it. I don’t suppose if the battery gets lower than that it’s a case of phoning Skoda CS up and saying, “oi, my battery is on its way out. Can I have a new one please?” ??? PS Checked and the battery is an EFB+, from googling a posh end lead acid battery. PPS better pic of the charge indicator window. Battery knows it’s not a totally happy battery.

How many gears does the Karoq DSG 4x4 Diesel have?
I have a 60mph road about a mile from home, within a mile or so of that it’s a fairly long & flat straight. Next time out will head that way and see if she goes into 6th or stays in 5th before warming up.

Try it on a road where you can get up to and maintain 60mph, it should deffo go into and hold 7th gear.

Incidental opening of windows when unattended
It’s just a tick, or untick, box in settings. Easy to reverse and, if I remember correctly, you can have “up” ticked and “down” unticked so you can still close your windows with the remote. You just can’t pocket press drop them.

Incidental opening of windows when unattended
Just go into settings and switch off remote opening the windows. Simples.

Incidental opening of windows when unattended
If operated from the key do the rear windows drop first? Might be brief enough to start the process but not get as far as the fronts. One of the first things I did in settings was disable the ability to drop the windows with the key. I kept the putting windows up though. No idea re sunroof, not having one.

Will see what it looks like tomorrow. PS To save me going out in the rain, these aren’t AGM type are they?

Couple of questions, SS & ext mirrors related.
tried that today to find: The only leckie things I had running was headlights and good old Ken Bruce on R2. Needed both LOL! All other criteria should have been fine, seatbelt was on, wasn’t too cold, basically all the criteria for normal SS were in place. It was a 30 mile round trip and the “fogged” bit of the message disappeared near the end, but not the excess power message. When I got back I checked the battery voltage with a multimeter, engine off so not reading the alternator output, and it was 12.5V, a bit low. Will check the battery tomorrow am after any float charge has dissipated, but I suspect my battery isn’t in the healthiest of conditions. The car was built in late July 19 but not delivered, to me, until late June 20 so battery will have suffered the usual neglect in storage.

Michelin cross climate tyres
True, in those circumstances they would be a good choice. Also have roads locally that are cleared with tractors with V shaped ploughs. Great except where the passing places have a 2ft bank of snow from the plough, makes for good for reversing practise.

Michelin cross climate tyres
But roads are never only snow packed, unless it’s purely roads that ploughs and snow blowers (we have one of these for Dava Moor) don’t touch. It’ll virtually always be mix of snow packed and cleared roads. That’s why I’d never bother with snow chains for the roads I drive, you’d be constantly stopping to put them on and take them off. Re studded tyres, you don’t have the option of fitting/removing at the side of the road. I can see a place for them when out playing in the local back roads but no use heading any distance.

In the UK? Studded tyres being illegal here.

09/10 winter? Yep it was certainly fun. Just not sure I want a repeat of it! A few more pics. D3 was in offroad height!

Michelin cross climate tyres
I never want to see another winter like 2010, truly winter from hell. Was fun even in my LR getting around. Made good wheelie bin pics though. Now all our cars have full winters on and at least one 4x4, also on full winters.

DSG gearbox question
Cheers all. I’ve only done shade over 4k miles in 6 months, and the next 6 months are looking like even less miles, so 40k is going to be a while away!
