  1. It should be on a data plate on the slam panel (very front bit) under the bonnet. I think.
  2. Daft question, or two. Does USofA still allow overtaking in any lane on the freeway? If so, how does ACC behave there? All based on the assumption they sell Karoqs there.

Well mystery solved, more like two mysteries! It’s the crocodile clip charger attachment for my CTEK chargers. Must have knocked it into the aux belt area or left it under the bonnet and it’s found its way there. As soon as I saw the adaptor it was a “So that’s where it went!!” moment, been looking for it for a while as it was on the missing list. Aux belt was show a bit of wear but nothing dramatic, but new one now in place. Thanks for everyone’s help. 👍👍

Will have a look when I pick her up, either today or tomorrow. Pics/screen grabs above are pretty rubbish but will do better when I have the real thing in my hands.

The bits are in the car waiting for me getting it back. 👍 I’m just curious how anything could get in there as it’s pretty well shielded. I could have ran over some debris on the road and it flicked up, again it had to get in there. I’m thinking along the lines of a charging cable from when the car was stored for 9 months before we bought it. But I could be wrong, it has been known. Allegedly! 🤣

Long story short, car is in for service and they found a what they thought was a charging cable tangled in the Aux belt. Cable has been removed and new aux belt is being fitted. This is what the technician thinks is the handle, anyone got any idea what it is? Nothing I’ve fitted, I have a CTEK connector that is on top of the battery and deffo not that. It’s the car’s first extended scope service (6 years & 27k miles) so might be the first time anyone’s looked in the aux belt area, ever. Thoughts oh wise ones? ¡
  7. I’ve not had an invite! 😭 And might just be interested in an Elroq to replace Mrs DSL’s car. Just don’t tell Mrs DSL. 🤣

Swapped to the Bosch ones out just after we got the car, originally ones were awful. 5 3/4 years and 27k miles later and they are still perfect. 👍

    As thamestrader says. 👍
  10. My Karoq is visiting the dealer for servicing tomorrow, will be doing similar. Just don’t tell Mrs DSL.

PPS Ignore that, just seen they are the same.

PS Worth checking weight and speed ratings in manual/tyre data card. If under what is specified then dealer needs to rectify, no if, buts or maybes. 👍

Sounds like the car needed new tyres on the front and the dealer put in what was either to hand or cheapest.
  14. +1 for Bosch wiper blades, front and rear. Ours have done 5 1/2 years and 27,000 miles and still perfect. The factory ones are truely rubbish.

You could just leave it until just before you sell the car. Just in case lightning strikes twice.👍

Thanks for that. The car is 21 plate, and no recalls showing on the .gov site. Fingers crossed it’s not affected. 🤞

Is this stalling issue only on manuals or does it affect DSGs? Thinking of buying the in-laws 1.5 petrol DSG SE Tech as they may stop driving shortly. They haven’t said anything about stalling on roundabouts but that doesn’t mean there isn’t an issue.
  18. As above from few peeps, walk away would be my sage advice. Even if it didn’t have issues there is always the worrying “what if …….. “. Plenty of fish in the sea. 👍
  19. I track my mpg on Road Trip app and generally find its calculations to be similar to the mpg in the dash display. Well near enough for government work anyway. 👍 And, just for kicks, have tracked every penny spent on the car since we got her. That makes scary numbers. 😱
  20. Like the reg. And the colour. 👍
  21. PS Just seen above it’s to protect the battery from the engine heat, that makes more sense. Must read all the thread before scratching noggin.🥵
  22. OK, been scratching my head over this. Surely when a good battery is needed, like in the morning, the battery will be at ambient temp, just like the rest of the car. Good old Newton’s 2nd law of thermodynamics in action. Not sure a pretty insignificant piece of insulation is going to bring anything to the party that is cranking a cold engine when it’s a might parky out there. 🤔 My line of thinking may be wrong, that has happened. It was a Tuesday ISTR and raining. 🤣
  23. Agreed ^^^^^. Sounds like time for a new battery. Not worth the hassle of putting up with a dying battery for £80 or so.
  24. It sounds like one of the reasons I now religiously switch off S/S, not keen on engine shutting down while I’m slowing to a halt rather than once I’ve actually stopped. Plus I’m of an age, and with my prev vehicle choice not being known for reliability, where I automatically think “I’ve broken down” when the engine shuts down. 🤣

Alternatively ratchet strap a full spare to the side wall. Looks a bit weird but works a treat. Mine’s a 4x4 version so I’ve automatically lost a but of floor depth so mounting it “normally” gives too much of a letter-box boot. Plus I loose a fair bit of volume either side of the wheel.
