  1. Just got to persuade her first. That could take a while.
  2. Thanks for that, skimming through that (skipping the Kia bits), Elroq is deffo on top. 👍 Now just got to persuade Mrs DSL to give up her beloved 14 year old Jazz. 🙄
  3. Ramblings deffo help. Will have to look at the fuse box, plus what the supply amps we have.
  4. Thanks for that, lots of good info to chew through.👍 Agree re the size of the EX30, though rear is not an issue as there are just 2 of us. What does put me off is the essential driving info in the centre of the car. Having been driving for 45 years with the readouts in front of me, looking to the side is going to be a distracting PITA. Old dogs & new tricks. Also been mooching through the EX30 forum and that car has more bugs than one of the buggier scenes in an Indiana Jones movie. Not sure Mrs DSL would be happy with that, and a happy wife is a happy life.
  5. OK if I lob in the odd question re Elroqs? Looking to change Mrs DSL’s car and thinking Electric, presently looking at low spec Elroq (50 SE) and Volvo EX30. Mega discounts on EX30s, moderate discounts on Elroqs so similar cost. We’ll be complete EV newbies, my car is a Karoq TDi SE 4x4 and that’s not changing. New car will be pretty much all local driving so planning just to charge at home, charging being the cause of most of my head scratching. So first question, do the Elroqs have cabin preconditioning, ie set the time of departure and either get it up to temp by that time, or down to temp in warmer weather? Is the blind zone detection where there is a warning light in the side mirrors if there is a car in the blind spots either side? Wish I could get that retrofitted to my Karoq. And re home charging, and I know opinions will vary wildly, but what’s the best combo of tariffs and wall charger? I assume that’s something I have to buy on top, as is cable for granny charging from standard socket? I have no idea where to start re wall chargers and tariffs, we haven’t even caved in to our energy supplier’s demands to fit smart meters. Apologies if these have been covered, I did have a look through this section but couldn’t find answers. TIA
  6. My 16 pro works fine on my MY2020 SE, might be a cable issue as my USB A to C cable is from the Apple Store, not all cables are born equal.
  7. I’d ask “is my AC working (getting cold)? Is it smelly?”. If the answer is no twice I’d tell the dealer “no thanks”. Lots of these extras are just fishing trips by the dealers. Better things to spend your money on. If the answer to the above questions is “yes”, not sure I’d use a Skoda dealer to fix it.
  8. 4 weeks is nothing, don’t worry about it.

Unfortunately I need some interest from Mrs DSL. She knows I’m subtly hinting bit not biting. She does ( wearing of trousers) and mouse (man or) before anyone asks. 🤣

Just had a look at Mokka-es on AutoTrader, under £17k for a pre-reg & delivery mileage car, almost half list price. And I even like the bright green colour. 🤣 I did mention it to Mrs DSL (her car is getting on a bit at almost 14 years old) but she didn’t show any sign of interest at all. ☹️

OK, forget the above, but thanks for the replies. MIL is going to keep driving for another year so. Looks like our 14 year old Jazz will be soldiering on for another year at least.👍

Good thinking. I doubt it will have them as they don’t do “extras” but it was a stock car so not unknown for the dealer to tick a box or two.

Great idea, will snap a pic of the windscreen VIN next time I get to the car.

Perfect, many thanks. 👍 Must improve my Googling skills. 🙁
  15. Thinking of buying a 21 plate Karoq 1.5 DSG SE Tech from the MIL and have a question. No doubt more will follow, no point in asking Mrs DSL to ask the MIL as the answer will be “no idea”. It’s a standard car, no extras, it’s even Cheap Seats Blue, they didn’t believe in spending money on paint. The first question. From looking at pics on like of Autotrader, looks like SE Tech has keyless start, does it have keyless entry? If so, can it we switched off? TIA

Good luck getting the bench up, tried it a while ago and only managed to sprain my wrists!! Gave up.
  17. Bought a couple of cables as per MrSecretPotato, worked a treat as new phone fired the in-car screen up in a flash. 👍 Many thanks all.
  18. Thanks all, will deffo go down the cable or adapter route, changing the socket is officially above my pay grade. I have two cables I can try, if that doesn’t work I’ll try the Anker ones. And that doesn’t work then it’s the socket converter.👍 Will look at it when home, just got a 14 1/2 hour flight ahead of me from Singapore. ☹️
  19. Already have a couple of cables, can’t try them as don’t get back home for a couple of days, but looking at the scenario if cables don’t work for data transfer rather than just charging. Was thinking it’s easier to ask the question now before getting back, rather than through the fog of jet lag. But thanks for the links.
  20. ………… and was wondering how easy is it to change the USB socket in the Karoq? 2019 SE with Balero system (if that’s relevant), was wondering if it’s possible and, importantly easy, to change from the old style USB socket (USB A) to the new (for us) USB C one. By easy I mean I’m not going to break anything and don’t need a computer degree to reprogram stuff. Thoughts oh wise ones out there?
  21. If brakes ore binding then you can carefully check the temp of the wheel cf the others. Use back of hand after a decent run and gently tap the centre of the rim. If it’s really hot you’ll feel the heat before contact. If one wheel is hotter than the others, anything above luke warm, then that could be your problem. Otherwise could be just the normal reduction in mpg in winter, my mpg is always ~15% down in winter across several cars and almost 20 years of logging fuel consumption on our cars. My theory at the moment is that this is down to colder and more resistant tyres and more electrical stuff running.

Very good ^^^^^^ Same question was asked a while ago on a LR forum I frequent, the overwhelming conclusion was “sell the car”. Looks like things have moved on since then.
  23. Lots of Nespresso Nomad travel mugs on eBay, mostly at stupid prices considering they give them away every now and again. At last count I think I’ve got 5. Might be worth a cheeky punt on one.
  24. Yes, my mistake, it’s a USB A output in the car to USB C on the phone. I don’t have the phone yet so will be a case of see what if anything works. Unfortunately no data connection over BT.
  25. Looking to change my 4 year old iphone for a new s****y 16 Pro, however it comes with a USB-C to Micro USB cable. My car, a humble 2020 SE, has the good old original USB-B output to connect to so the cable that will come with the phone won’t work. However I have loads of USB-B to micro USB cables from other bits of tech. So, finally, my question. Will the non apple USB-B to micro USB cable work with an iphone for CarPlay in a Karoq? TIA oh wise ones out there.
