  1. Aye. Use your Mk 1 eyeballs and keep your eyes on the road.
  2. VCDS AND some sledgehammers !?! Sounds like you have both sides of the spectrum covered.
  3. Hear Hear. I'm guessing those numpties don't realise that it's the equivalent of having their forward facing lights on High Beam, thereby afecting the folowing drivers (night) vision. Sadly it''s the majority of drivers that do this. Twonks !!
  4. Welcome. I too came here after buying my first Skoda as this forum seems to have an answer to every question. I've even bought a VCDS to start tinkering with it (the car, not the Forum). Such Fun !!
  5. If you have no joy in matching the paint you could consider some of that "Carbon Fibre" wrap for both door mirrors.
  6. I'm up to 90 dregrees within 4-5 mins. May vary as we approach winter though (and like others, once set at 90 degrees it stays there all day).

Who is this mythical dealer that does work FOC? Such things are dreams made of .....
  8. I bought mine from a Skoda dealer (using the vehicle reg ensures the correct colour match). Was a bit miffed at paying £16 for 2 small pots (paint and laquer) but they will probably last the life of my ownership.

I have read that some fuses remain live for up to 20 mins after you shut down. Are you sure they are all staying "live" ? What does your manual say? There must be some switchable fuses in there ..... 😄
  10. You need to take a butchers at this thread. 🙂
  11. More good info. But surely (don't call me Shirley!) that would be prone to error as you could bung some cheapo Halfords slop in or alternatively some top grade stuff and the pesky algorithm would come up with the same result without actually "tasting" the oil? Either way I'm happy to go onto fixed servicing (via the service reset method). 👍
  12. Hi Guys, I'm shortly going to service my 2011 Octavia MK II, changing oil, oil filter, air filter, pollen filter, fuel filter and plugs. I have read up on resetting the Service Interval indicator (holding in the trip odometer etc.) but do I need to get someone with a VCDS to do any service resets with that? Originally I thought I'd be fine but I have been reading various threads re: VCDS and seen mention of oil quality in the settings. WIll my clever Octy detect the new oil (and hence it's smashing super duper quality) or will it need to be told about it? Cheers.
  13. Aye up Lad. I too found this forum after googling some questions which led me here. Seems like a nice bunch of peeps so far. As to discovering your own solution to an issue, that's why forum exist. So share your info cus who knows, maybe someone will have that exact same issue further down the line and your post will be "the answer" for them. 😃
  14. The Ferrite Block that is supplied with the 522 is designed to cut down on any interference. I attached mine just before the cable enters the camera and have had no issues with interference on the radio. 🤞
  15. It's the 522. I leave mine in all the time. If you have the Parking mode activated (to switch the camera on if anyone bumps the car while parked) it won't be much use if the camera is in your house. 🤪
  16. Have you tried any scrap yards? They might insist on flogging pairs but even so the price might be favourable (depending on condition).
  17. Hi Guys, I am enjoying my car so far but I can't get comfy with the clutch for some reason. I had a Picasso diesel previously and when pulling away you could drop the revs down low and it would just pull away. On the Octavia I find I have to raise the revs (more than I'm used to) to stop it stalling. And if I do stall I have to do the obvious manly thing of quickly looking around to see if anybody saw me. 😁 It all feel a lot "tighter" than the Picasso though. Getting there ......
  18. I fitted one of these to my Octavia a few weeks ago. Hardest part was running the cable through the tailgate so it was nice and neat. Do you mean the rear view camera through the cabin or the one that attaches to the rear windscreen? I also found out (the hard way) that you need to use a Class 10 U3 card as any other means it won't play. 🤨
  19. Hi All, I've recently purchsed my very first Skoda and am very pleased with it. On doing some Googling for various queries (nothing too technical at this stage) I kept seeing this Forum come up. It makes sense to join up as this place seems to be the "Go To" place for owners. Based on what I've read so far I'm sure that anything that I may have a question about has already been answered (or there'll be some knowledgeable owner that knows where to look). Cheers Guys.
