  1. Tbh the moon roof won me over, dogging in the countryside while looking at the andromina constilation, I think yes. Insurance is also a killer on more sporty cars given people my age enjoy putting them in ditches... Ah thanks for that, wasn't aware it was an mot fail. I was planning to get a 40k done on the DSG but if it's not required then not much point.
  2. At the moment not too many, I'm aware of the DPF and plan to have it removed & remapped. I'll be doing around 3,000 miles over the next month & 1/2, however long term it'll typically be around 50 miles a day, 25 each way commuting. Drive a lot for enjoyment too so probs ~100 miles over a weekend.
  3. Hiya Buying a 2015 1.6 TDI DSG Skoda Rapid this weekend, is there anything I should look out for? It's done 45k miles. Trading up from a MK1 Skoda Fabia. Cheers Adam
  4. Off to the scrap yard tomorrow... got the one with the drain tap off need the top one, only glass fiber reinforced plastic so not a biggie getting it used. Thinking about getting some more touch up paint and cleaning up the front bumper while it's off.
  5. Right, I'll give it another go tomorrow. The rad didn't but I have some already. Car currently looks like I've ran somebody over and am trying to cover it up lol...
  6. Just got the rad out the new one secured in place (ish..). Slight issue with the coolant hose adapters for lack of a better word, I can't seem to detatch the from the old radiator. Tried picking at one trying to release it but no luck. It's number 3 on the diagram below, any clue how to get it off?
  7. Try calling around your local scrap yards, bit of a pain but I'd imagine one will have one somewhere. There's also a fella who has a bunch of VRS parts that made a post on here a few days ago in Wales.
  8. First result googling the listing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-6Y-MK1-1999-2007-REAR-BACK-PLASTIC-BUMPER-BLACK-6Y6807421-/253832645416
  9. Smh, last person left me a gift of stripped screws on the slam cover, angle grinder will be coming out tomorrow...
  10. Just ordered more parts Let's see what breaks next. First service and everything falls apart! 👊
  11. Hi mate, that's of where the leak is coming from I did take some pics of the sensor but it was completely dry
  12. Just whipped it back on the ramps, looking at the diagram It's just above the drain tap, it doesn't seem to be leaking at all, from the attached picture it looks as if it's coming from within the metal casing of the radiator unit, anywhere obvious I should check next? I'm considering putting some sealant into it until I do the headgasket as I'm concerned about reskimming and cracks in the head.
  13. Replaced my expansion tank as the sensor was trashed yesterday, found a leak in the radiator (think it's the fan switch) and today gunk in the coolant tank! Looking at older posts it seems the head gasket is fairly straight forward to swap assuming it doesn't need skimming however, does anyone know which tools are needed to remove it? Should I upgrade the headbolts and finally is this a suitable kit, if not does anyone have the OEM uprated part number? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SKODA-FABIA-1-4-8V-HEAD-GASKET-SET-BOLTS-00-03-AME-AQW-ATZ/153340782644
  14. Got a 1.4 16v Fabia from 2000, the brake pedal loses pressure and requires you to push really far down to get any application. Had the rear drums cleaned out and the front disks replaced by a local garage a few months back as they started humming then locked on a little bit which caused them to get very toasty. Anything obvious to check before taking it into the garage? Losing pressure in the pedal would make me think there's air in the system but I'm not sure... Any ideas? Going to scan it with VCDS now.
  15. They made another thread where they mentioned shorting out the connector, would be pretty screwed if its further up the harness? May be worth checking the cable with a multimeter. Did a bit of Googleing, it turns out RoHS directives came out in 2002 limiting the use of lead in electronics (Solder namely), have you ever seen a pre-2002 Fabia have cracked joints in the cluster? 🤔
  16. The solder joints inside the instrument cluster crack sometimes causing weird faults. Check the video below, while it's aimed towards the immobiliser its the exact same repair. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Dpu7z2BWeXE
  17. Looks like I'm clear of replacing that monster, installed the new sensor and all seems well. Oil was literally pouring out of the end of the old sensor. New coolant tank is waiting at my local sorting office, if only they were open for more than 2 hours.... Looks like my fab will be kicking for a while longer
  18. Has the car sat by any chance? The last few fabs I've bought (1.4 16v, 1.4 mpi) which had sat for about 2-4 months, kept stalling when changing gears and throwing fuel mixture too rich error codes. After running it for about 2 months on a 100 mile commute it started running rock solid.
  19. The sump actually has a very slight leak around the seal, I was planning to replace it with a new unit next time I serviced it. The pick up pipe looks fairly long, where does it connect to?
  20. Just ordered the sensor and a new expansion tank 🤞
  21. Solder joints are all fine
  22. It's 2001, only thing that makes me doubt its the cluster is the fact the oil light comes on when the engine is warm. I'll have a peak.
  23. Whoops, had meant to put that up. It's a 1.4 mpi
  24. My Fabia has the coolant level warning light on and once up to temp the engine oil light comes on, engine doesn't sound and different just its juddery self, everything else runs as normal, It's full of oil, coolant tank is also full. From another thread someone mentioned replacing the oil pressure sensor (047-919-081B) which I'm going to do, I'll also be getting a new coolant bottle. Only ~£20 to find out if it's ruined. Anything else I should check? I've been having instrument cluster out a fair bit as I'm working on a digital cluster so I could also be suffering from cracked solder joints.. Also, ehem... While I'm at it I fitted a 2017 Seat Leon wheel, a harness frankentine was conducted to make it all work, still need to run an extra wire for the steering wheel controls as the harness only has space for one. Maybe the red stitching gave the car too many horse powers, who knows! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
