Adaptive cruise control accident
Whilst this is still ongoing I wanted to take time out to thank you to the members of this community. When I posted this issue I only just had the accident. The speed at which members of this community responded and advised on what to do speaks volumes. So Thanks All

Adaptive cruise control accident
I have just been looking at how to calibrate the radar sensor.. Essentially a laser pointer and make sure it points straight back with little / no deviation. If all one had to do was to calibrate the camera, is this all the dealers are charging for?

Cheap way to do long coding
@AlVal That looks promising I'm not sure I have enough will power to install that not sure what the risks would be. Even with this elm327 i won't do it if it looks too risky. I have a friend ordering the nextgen obdeleven device, might just borrow that when i need it.. I have seen some youtube videos of the app and it doesn't appear to be 1 click apps type of coding but rather the long coding / adaptions. Here have a look:

probably, they milk in general don't they. They are following whatever times ekta quotes them. We have Hortons here in the UK who are relatively good and their charges are £135 for the labour and £135 again for calibration. Considering no dealer in their right mind charges below £50/hour i can only assume that even they are quoting for 1.5 hours or 2 hours for the job as well with the calibration being separate.

You'd think so... But apparently it counts for nothing and can't be used as evidence unless you have clear cut admission...

Cheap way to do long coding
It appears you can buy any elm327 (one that supports the full feature set) and do long coding and diagnostics using the following app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ovz.carscanner The app costs €5 Has any one tried it? Or for a elm327 they can recommend to buy that's not fake enough to not work?

Adaptive cruise control accident
Good news guys, they admitted liability and now I'm going through insurance. I wasn't trying to help them I just wanted to avoid the hassle of dealing with the legal battle if they turned around and said I went in to the back of them. So I was being nice and playing along as not to get their backs up. @AlVal pacc is something I wanted to do... How did you get past the cp yourself and the FEC/SWAP?

Adaptive cruise control accident
These are quotes from main dealers, but in order for them to do a full diagnostic of all the damage, they will charge by the hour and taking the bumper off alone is a 3 hour job. So I just asked them for the most basic basic minimum cost which came to about ~£1000 including parts labour and calibration.

Adaptive cruise control accident
@xman I'm just a little wary of posting the pics of the actual accident just since it's an ongoing thing. Once the proceedings have started I will post the actual pictures. Got a couple of quotes assuming the only damage is the radar and they came to over £1k

Adaptive cruise control accident
@xmanthank you for your concern. I took the cover off and can physically see a plastic cap of the radar is broken off, sitting in the well, and the brackets are bent and plastics brackets have snapped off. I don't know what else could be wrong without seeing the extent of how it's damaged underneath but on the surface (covers on) it looks like nothing happened. I am documenting the conversations but I cannot record an admission of guilt without explcitly stating I'm recording (for it to be admissible) especially since he so desperately wants to do it privately I don't think he will until a last resort. The car is insured, that much I know. I am playing it safe, informed my insurers saying I'll let you know what I want doing..here's to people being honest and owning up to it when the time comes.

Adaptive cruise control accident
They have got in touch again.. and still want to pay for it ( if it's cheap enough) not sure if it is worth the hassle plus like mentioned here there could be other things wrong. But at the same time I don't want to get their back up to the point where it turns into a he said she said kind of business. My thoughts are to get a quote "minimum" amounts (from Skoda) in the hope that it's far too much to want to fork out using your own money... Considering a new radar + calibration... I'm guessing at least £500

Adaptive cruise control accident
Yes I did.. got their details phoned right there and checked it was the right number. Only thing is I didn't speak to the driver it was their partner I think and one other person in the car (the driver went off for a cigarette looking distraught). I got the name of the driver, they didn't have details of who they were insured with and said they'd text it through... They haven't yet and haven't responded to my findings that I texted through.. They went away thinking minimal damage.. just a scuff that will buff out. I did say it looks cosmetic but I won't know the damage until I start driving again.. having looked at where the contact was, I immediately thought ACC and mentioned it to them. CCTV is limited, nothing pointing at the location directly, but I will be contacting the companies asking if they have any footage of the driver reversing or the drivers' (2 cars she gave way to) registration plates to be used as potential witnesses. I believe the excess is around £2-300 No it isn't. Unfortunately The sensor cover does have a scuff along it see image. As well as a scuff on the bonnet. I tried to clean the sensor cover to see if that was the problem, the line you see there has disappeared but it had no effect on its function.

Adaptive cruise control accident
Being on the receiving end of frivolous claim in always trying to reassure other drivers at fault that I won't milk them through insurance companies and perhaps to my own detriment I should be looking after my own personal interests ... Gutted that I didn't get witnesses statement .
-
Adaptive cruise control accident
I should have recorded a witness statement and the plot thickens... It went to acc unavailable and then eventually radar impaired..

Adaptive cruise control accident
Hi guys need some quick help here... Someone just reversed into my front, an SUV.. on the surface it doesn't look like much but it's right on the sensor / bonnet. But now the adaptive cruise control is misfiring in detecting the car in front it picks it up and then it disappears and picks it up again in the space of few seconds but mostly, it's not picking it up... Where do I even begin to start diagnosing this??

Help Diagnosing an AC issue
I am aware of the legality of adding into the system without testing. Which is why I want to to do everything (legally) possible to diagnose the problem ensuring I don't have to return and do a refill of the r1234yf which will cost ~£100 / per go. On a previous car, I had a vacuum test done and it held for the brief few minutes the mechanic did it for before refilling and 3 months later I was back at square 1.

Help Diagnosing an AC issue
I will be taking the car back in 3 weeks and he will check again the pressure remaining using the same process he used last time. If it drops, I must have a leak

Help Diagnosing an AC issue
Sorry bit of a novice what would be the test conditions? Maybe I could be cheeky and ask him to evac and refill again just to see if it starts cooling again and evac again and sort the condenser out.

Help Diagnosing an AC issue
Hi All, It is not really superb specific issue, so I am hopeful someone can help me. So I cannot comment on if the AC was working before or not.. I felt it was but you don't really know until you use it. Go to turn on the AC and I can hear a hissing sound (might just be the expansion). But it continues and I see no cooling effect. Took it to a specialist (at closing time !) And he had a brief look round and initially he said probably just needs a refill because turning the AC engaged the compressor momentarily... After which he decided to check using UV light (being told newer manufacturers put a dye in from factory ) From there he could see multiple spots on the condenser unit but weirdly enough there were lighter green dots generally on some pipes where you wouldn't have any leak paths (e.g. metal pipe). In addition it looks like there is pressure in the AC system (5.2 bar). Now i cannot remember if this was on the high side or low side but the engine was off at this time and the guy was using a blue adaptor so I am assuming it was on the low side. So I have been told to run the system as is for 2 weeks and see if there is a pressure drop and then I will have to make a decision on what to do next, possibly replace the condenser. I have 2 questions.. Is there something else I can do to check and secondly to me 5.2 bar looks appropriate based on the pressure table in the service manual for R1235yf being 4.9 bar at 20 degrees c. Can someone shed some more light on the issue please.

Reverse camera install help
Thought so, do you have vcds or obd11 and check the parameters that langers2k mentioned?

Reverse camera install help
Just so I am not mistaken, you can see the reverse camera without actually selecting reverse gear? @Ams12could you check if this is possible on your sinosmart/ chinese variant?

Reverse camera install help
Hitting the button turns on the horizontal car showing how far I am from everything. I can see the is a button what looks like the rear end of the car with wifi type arcs at the bottom of it (assuming it means camera) but it is greyed out / disabled. Only time it works is when you physically select reverse gear. Maybe its because it is powered by reverse gear, I am not sure...

Reverse camera install help
I got it all installed just need to tuck it into the trim (rubber gator still to do) but I was curious is there a way to turn on the camera apart from selecting the reverse gear.. perhaps in close parking control? I can see the rear camera button appear when the car picks up I am close to an obstacle but it is greyed out. Perhaps there is a way to code it in?
