  1. Yes I did... I bought INA version of the pump and timing belt kit. I didn't want to go super cheap but at the same time didn't want to go super expensive either. INA is a good brand and they supply OEM so it was a good choice for me. Also I couldn't find many suppliers that stocked both timing belt and water pump as a kit. So all in all yes you do need the switchable pump. You cannot replace it with a non switchable one.
  2. Did you have to go buy new pop rivets to replace the dozen or so you removed everytime you took it off?
  3. I was looking at the damptronic ones. Directly on the Bilstein UK website, they are about £25 cheaper. Where the b4 damptronic is 275 and the b6 damptronic is 250 23-254343
  4. I understand B4 are suppose to be direct replacements for OE. However as it stands B6 are cheaper than B4 for the superb. I care more about comfort (less impact going over bumps) than I do about sports. Can anyone qualitatively describe what the difference between the two is? Perhaps has tried them both?
  5. Off to bilstein it is then!
  6. I saw that and contacted the seller asking will I be able to still use the shocks electronically? And they said yes! I've ordered a fair few thing from AliExpress and have been good, you must look at the seller and reviews of the product before buying..
  7. At risk of getting shot for even suggesting it, has anyone tried these: For VW Golf 7 Arteon (3H) TIGUAN II T ROC Seat Leon III SKODA KODIAQ Front Shock Absorber 5Q0412037HM Q0413031AK 3Q0413031BB|Shock Absorber& Struts| - AliExpress
  8. Strictly speaking (as far as I know) it is only an MOT fail if you have any safety related lights on (Engine, brakes, power steering, seat belts, any external lamps, tpms). So if a tester is just doing their job they will pass it all off. However a eagle eyed one will look at the ACC malfunction and possibly think emergency breaking is not going to work. It might be up to their discretion if they think its a safety issue (given that there are plenty of cars without it on the road).
  9. Ok, I will then get a basic usb Y splitter cable and hopefully it will do the job!
  10. I am looking for solutions. I have recently installed a DashCam which I was hoping would be powered by the cigarette lighter but since it's always on, it's not ideal, I only want it on when the car is driving. Although the ability for it to stay on even after the car is off does have it merits in supermarket car parks. I use the android auto quite often so cannot use that to power all the time.. can I buy a usb dual port and the android auto would work still? Alternatively my least preferred option is tapping a fuse. Which fuse should one tap? Does anyone have a kit they can recommend that creates a usb a port?
  11. My understanding was white means it picks up the lane but is not actively doing anything / unable to assist because you're steering. Orange means it's picked up the lane and will center when you get too close. The lane assist icon goes green if at least one side is orange.
  12. Let me start by saying I am generally happy with my stock shocks and don't really require the sporty versions etc. On my last check the mechanic told me there is a slight leak / misting on one of the shocks. I wanted to get it replaced but since it is electronically controlled they cost in the region of £320 each. This lead me down the path of seeing if my current ones could be refurbished. Found this company in poland (nagengast) that does it for 145 euros each (seems reasonable) however thanks to brexit you can add ridiculous charges for customs etc. My question is, does anyone know of UK companies that do a similar job? Is it worth the hassle. Has anyone got them done before or would you rather just buy brand new?
  13. My car doesn't have a virtual cockpit, sadly.. looks nice though. So i guess there might be a way to change it to golf or leon. I guess I will just leave it for now.
  14. Lyminton has been kind enough to provide some part numbers. I still need to identify the make of the existing. Which proving difficult with everything in front of it. Does anyone know where the label might be without having to dismantle it too much?
  15. Yeh I know. Would still be nice if I could change it to something a little more appealing. It definitely looks like the Octavia.
  16. Majority of the time I am driving my maxi dot is set to driver assistance so I can see if it is picking up the car in front detecting lanes etc. One thing that really bugs me is that I drive a superb but the car image shown on the screen is that of an Octavia ? is there some way to change this? Thanks
  17. Hello everyone. I think my condenser needs replacing, but I am struggling to find the correct part number for it which is making finding the correct aftermarket replacement even harder. When I input my information in to autodoc or other sites like buycarpartsonline, I get several options of different dimensions. I have already contacted Skoda-Parts (online), and even they don't know which part is correct for my vehicle. I have Skoda Superb 16MY DSG and it uses a R134yf refrigerant. Anyone got any pointers on how to go about identifying stopping short of stripping the vehicle?
  18. I asked the insurance company and they sent a message to the repairers, please look into installing this instead. However the people installing the part have said that TPS (VW part supplier for UK) have said this part isn't for my car and because it's a safety related part, point blank refused to even send the part. So now we at an impass because when I called the dealer up they said they cannot say a part that is essentially a mod for the vehicle is fit for my car. The repairers said that if I can get a statement from the dealer they can use that to argue the case with TPS..
  19. Its not so much its been superseded but. When my car was made there was such thing as predictive cruise control. Later down the line pACC came along. Original part numbers started with 3Q0 newer ones were 3QF. My issue isn't really if i have pACC or not. I have heard driving around london isn't too good on it anyway. I am more concerned with getting my car back as quickly as possible but the 3Q0 variant of the radar is on backorder until next year!! So it made sense to me to fit the 3QF on it instead which is £400 cheaper then the 3Q0 (main dealer prices). It was a win win for all parties involved but it doesn't look like they'll fit it because they class it as a retrofit and not a part designed for my "chassis"
  20. I want the modern equivelant because i can potentially unlock the pacc. I really don't want to be waiting till next year to get my car back. I think it works for all parties but my concern is that the "repairers" are probably not too well versed and will just say it's not possible. Unfortunately forums saying it's possible isn't evidence enough
  21. Hi Guys, looking for some advice on past experiences. When dealing with a dealership, do you think they will give their backing to a retrofit. My specific question is to do with fitting the newer 3QF radar instead of the 3Q0 radar on the car. 3Q0 is out of stock every where and costs £720 and the 3QF is ~£300. It makes sense but because insurance is involved they will only put that in if the dealership says its compatible.
  22. Thanks @JR RS, went into panic mode there. Got an auto start stop error as well I suppose I get that one (car used to always start back up when it detected that traffic ahead moving) Interesting about the TSR.. I've never had that before I would say speed map data for the UK is pretty conclusive. Could it have been triggered because of removing the radar?
  23. Whilst I'm driving the car! Also it came up with dynamic road sign display unavailable, even though it turns on after a few seconds, but the message remains. I still have light assist available.. every minute or so, lane assist and driver assistance lights comes on for a few seconds comes on in orange not the usual amber..
  24. Quick question guys I wanted to know if the lane assist and the front radar are connected somehow. What's I'm waiting for my car to be repaired I still need to be able to drive the car. However due to the fact of the radar is misplaced it would randomly start breaking at high speeds, so I removed it. But now when I started the car it came up with an error saying front assist unavailable which was as expected but also said lane assist is unavailable as well and I cannot seem to turn it back on either
  25. Indeed! Mind sharing the dealer? I'll go there too if it's nearby...
