Thanks to you, members!
Just wanted to say a big thankyou to you guys. Recently I’ve had a few niggles with this car and every single time I have had an issue the info and guidance found on this site, and the replies from members have saved me both time and money. I have now done three jobs myself which without this forum I would not have even considered attempting myself. 1, DSG thermostat replaced £15 2, internal blower motor £115 3, interior light switch £35 plus I’ve had the egr valve replaced - didn’t try that one myself :0) hopefully I’ll get back to my trouble free motoring now. thanks again, you’re awesome.

Any ideas? - Interior light cluster (ceiling)
Thanks @Declan O'Shaughnessythe replacement part you described arrived yesterday, fitted it today, 10 minute job (due to two fiddly connectors) and I now have a fully functioning interior light. much appreciated.

Any ideas? - Interior light cluster (ceiling)
Took the old one out and had a mess with it and sprayed some contact cleaner, no joy. found a second hand one on eBay £35 so I have ordered that. Arrives later this week.

What a fantastic reply @Declan O'Shaughnessymany thanks. It’s a 2013 elegance, so I’ll have to search for some stuff.

Any ideas? - Interior light cluster (ceiling)
When I first got this car the interior lights did not come on in the ceiling console when opening the doors or when pressing the rocker switch. Mysteriously, they started working a couple of months later, and it appeared to be a dodgy rocker switch. Can anyone advise on how to drop this console down so I can investigate further please? The footwell lights and exterior lights all come on as required when the doors open, its defo something up in the ceiling unit. Many thanks.

DSG equipped cars. Second thermostat
Ok so I have tackled this job today. Pretty straight forward, but those modern day jubilee clips (hose spring clip) are a pain in the behind! Car now warms up quicker and maintains temperature. I lost about 1/2 litre of coolant overall as I didn't have any pipe clamps. Defo I will keep my eye on it for a few days, and check the coolant level just to make sure. Overall, very pleased with myself. Thank you to everyone above who took the time to write some advice for me, its much appreciated. Special shout out to @Volor for his information. Next job EGR valve on Friday, but I am letting a professional do that! Hopefully after that job I will be back to trouble free motoring again.

DSG equipped cars. Second thermostat
@Volor You are an absolute star, thank you for this. I am going to Scotland this afternoon so I will try this job next week. Younger me would have tried to do it today and then end up in a panic over getting up North. Age has its benefits some times. Thanks again, I will let you know how I get on. Cheers.

DSG equipped cars. Second thermostat
I am mostly looking for an explanation of how the pipes attach to the thermostat please. does anything (jubilee clips or similar) need to be bought in advance. I don't want to take it apart on the drive then have to go and source stuff Thanks.

DSG equipped cars. Second thermostat
Can anyone run through the procedure for doing this please. I understand that I will need to remove the airbox etc that is above the pipe, but can someone tell me how the thermostat is attached to the pipe please. Will I need any special tools. I don't have pipe clamps, just the usual domestic type tools. I have seen a couple of 'similar' tutorials for a Passat or others in an Eastern European tongue, but any info that someone who has done this can pass on would be gratefully received. I feel like I am on a roll now, I changed my blower motor this morning and it has passed it's MOT. This DSG thermostat has been bugging me since January and now its almost warm enough outside to try and tackle it. My replacement thermostat arrived this morning, £13 amazon special. Many thanks.

Help needed please
Just to clarify I’ll come to you, I don’t expect you to drive to me.

Help needed please
Hi, I’ve got my MOT at 4:15 today and whilst replacing my blower this morning, I unplugged the airbag. Hence an airbag fault. im in Bolton so if anyone is within reach I would be very grateful. thanks

Blower fan no blow
Local car shop sourced me a new one within half an hour. £115 and I fitted it all back together inabout 10 minutes. I have wind again! anyone got a VCDS within half an hour of Bolton that can reset my airbag fault (unplugged when I removed the glovebox) because my MOT is at 4:15 pretty please!

Blower fan no blow
Many thanks. I think this one is done then. It’s pretty stiff. I’ve done half a can of contact cleaner and wd40 but no improvement.

Blower fan no blow
Hi, I have just removed my blower motor. Should it spin freely or should there be some resistance? mine barely turns. A quick reply would be great as I have the car in bits at the moment Thanks

Do you recommend using Skoda dealer for servicing
Don’t be silly. People only come into forums to discuss problems and negative issues. I wouldn’t post that I drove from Manchester to London, spent 8 days in London and then drove back all on one tank of diesel because nobody would care. people come here for help and answers. If you have a local garage you trust, keep using them. Dealers will do the same work but charge you at least double. If you’re loaded, sure head to the main dealer. Enjoy your car, I absolutely love mine, probably the best car I’ve owned (apart from my 2 seater I used to have before kids!)

Thermostat help
I have the same issue with mine. Not got round the changing it yet as it’s not bothering me too much. I believe (from the good people on here) that it looks like this abs is about £15-25 depending on where you shop. This is for a 2013.

2014 Auto Estate Flat Battery
you can get one of the same standard for half that, fitted and coded. have a look at local garages.

20 minutes won’t really make a significant difference to charging. I’d suggest you get one of these intelligent chargers from Amazon or similar for about £25-£30. It put some new life into mine!

2012 Skoda superb paint fade
It’s not as abrasive I don’t think. I got the autoglym kit off Amazon (about £20). It’s the first time I had tried it and I was amazed by the results. My car is black btw, but it’s a great way to clean your paintwork.

Have you tried running a clay bar over it?

Another headlight problem
Any idea over what time frame they fade? thanks

Vehicle not reaching optimum temperature
With the blue smoke or just the temp? ive been on a few good runs recently, eventually reached abs maintained normal operating temps and there’s been no smoke. Still needs changing at some point I guess.

Vehicle not reaching optimum temperature
So I’ve still not got round to fixing this (it’s only been a couple of weeks), but my car (100k miles) seems to be puffing out a bit of blue smoke from time to time under acceleration. Is this likely to be as a result of the dpf not getting up to temp? Or is the engine on its way out? to confuse matters even more, it’s just been serviced so maybe they put thinner oil in? any ideas as I’m a bit perplexed. Thanks

Vehicle not reaching optimum temperature
I’ve read up on this over the last two days as mine has miraculously started doing this too. I was in -8.5’C when it first happened so I assumed it was down to this. From what I have read and deduced, it’s the DSG thermostat which has stuck open. It’s more common than you might think. the part is about £25 and it looks pretty straightforward to fit (cheap). I will be taking mine in soon.

battery problem!
My charger (details above) has arrived. Plugged in and off we go. It’s in AGM mode as opposed to repair mode. Battery was showing at 40% so let’s see how we get on. stats: 14.6v 3.0A 5’C winter mode.
