  1. That is clear, understandable and I thank you kindly for the info. You are correct, I do not want anything to do with them whatsoever, I have nothing personal against Yeoman's per se, it is more the staff and their attitudes as most were kept on. However, I am not happy with being harassed (4 times now) via third parties to sell my car to Yeoman's, and Yeoman's instigated this without consent. I feel that is an unacceptable way for a dealership that means nothing to me, to conduct their business. I ripped them a third one earlier via email but have not received their reply yet. I am interested in what they have yo say about it. Thank you again buddy, much appreciated.
  2. Thank you PD. I have never had dealings with Yeoman's as they are an Audi dealership some miles away. I had no idea they had bought out Truscott's because they hadn't told me. After the terrible experiences I had during my first year of Skoda ownership, I swore never to set foot on that site ever again. I did say this to Yeoman's yesterday as well as asking for my data to be removed from their computer systems. To which he replied "This isn't Helston garages anymore". I asked f it was the same sales staff and mechanic and he said yes....... There is no chance of me ever going back. I do not think that Yeoman's could pass my data to whoever they want without an OK from me.
  3. Thanks for your insight. So it is fine for Yeoman's to pass my data to marketing companies so that I can be written to and texted. Better if Yeoman's had written to me and introduced themselves and asked first. I am glad that Coca Cola didn't buy out Truscotts as their marketing budget is huge..... I would be texted and written to forever more.
  4. Hi all Got a rather odd question perhaps...... I wondered if anyone else is experiencing this and is it ok? I purchased my Superb a few years ago and I am still very happy with it. Today I received another Text message and a letter through the post from Yeoman's. This dealership bought out Helston garages including Truscott's where I bought my Skoda. They want to buy my car from me and help me to buy a new or newer car from them. I phoned them on the number that they supplied and spoke to someone about this. My first question was about them owning and using my personal data without my knowledge. It was explained to me that 'they' bought the company as a going concern - the debts, the data, everything. I told him that I never gave my permission for my data to be sold to them. He said that I must have signed something when I bought my car..... I don't think I did and have looked though all the paperwork that came with the purchase and I have not signed to expressly allow my personal data to be sold. At the moment, this looks like a huge data breach and believe it is in contravention of the data protection act....... Can anyone please advise? Thanks in advance Benjum
  5. SE Exec maybe? 150hp with no spare wheel......
  6. It will be a riveting mini novel of my life buddy. The story of a Cornish lad with plenty of drama, heroism, loves lost and found, service to Queen and Country........ A best seller I'm sure! I best get started with the first draft
  7. This is a truly absurd situation to me...... Why have an aux port and jack socket and you can't use it? Smartlinks and spotify ....... I've heard of them but that's about it. I restore tractors, tinker with machinery and can do some stuff on my laptop....... Am I the only one in the world?
  8. Hmmmm, I'm totally lost with the names, software, hardware, upgrades and all that jazz. I wouldn't know what to do or how to do it either. I do know that it would never work again if I tried. Maybe Halfords or someone similar could make it happen for me
  9. Just had mine serviced with a full inspection by the garage who serviced my previous car (Passat) for the last 10 years. Stuff Truscotts! The oil filter the dealership fitted on the last service was loose and leaking down onto the splash guard - Lucky it didn't blow off! The splash guard fixings had previously been well over tightened and threads stripped. Why go to the dealership ever again. Truscotts refused to service it but only after I'd paid for it, only told this on collection day. I get a full report each time, Truscotts wouldn't even switch the service interval to the longer interval for me.... All done now though Sod 'em I say.
  10. Is Juke box an app or something? I left my brain behind in the early nineties.....
  11. That's a bummer So, it is back to the swinging sixties where you take a portable player everywhere you go then.
  12. Hello all For the second time since ownership, the touch screen display isn't there when starting up. It still tunes into the radio station which is Union Jack Dance - What a station! But I am of that age I suppose........ Rave on!! The volume still works but there is only a dull glow along the top of the screen. If the car is locked and left for a while, the screen returns. Is this a common glitch or does it need repair/replacing? I hope not to the latter because the dealership are idiots and it would be a fight to get the work done. The second query regards a CD player. My dad owns a 15 plate Yeti which he believes has a multi disc CD player somewhere in the back. He has never used it so isn't entirely sure. Can this be transplanted into my Superb? I have read the posts on here regarding the music system and I'm the guy with the record player on the passenger seat lol. I don't own an SD card nor the means to put my over 300 CDs onto one. I don't have the time or interest to invest in doing so either. The 'black slotty thing' in the glove box is a waste of space to me I want to rip it out...... Many thanks in advance, Benjum.
  13. If other Skoda dealerships are as bad as the one I bought my 67 Superb from, the brand is doomed! Soooo badly treated. To them, the customer's experience is unimportant.
  14. What you are about to read is true to the best of my knowledge, recollection and emails..... In case you were ever to wonder. My first negative experience arrived by way of a dash warning which informed me of a flat key battery. I had only owned the car a short amount of time so I rang the dealership to arrange having them both replaced on the Saturday as the distance and time from work to the dealership meant I could miss them. Don't misunderstand me, if I was still driving an Audi GT Coupe, I'd give it a good go! I was informed that no one who was in on Saturday wanted to change the batteries and that was that. I had to suggest that I go to the VW side of the building on Saturday to have it done! He phoned them, then phoned me back to say that was fine. The chap on the VW parts desk who knew I was coming, said I had to pay because he hadn't been told different. You just feel disappointed I guess? I was also a little saddened because it took all of the cash I had to buy two Cornish pasties on the way home...... Why would I have needed my card? My second and final negative experience unknowingly started on the !st of January. It may be worth saying that the car had about a week's holiday over Christmas as is wasn't needed. On starting up, the dash warning informed me that the part of the braking system was unavailable and the door mirrors moved in and out a few times. Once I got going, everything seemed fine. The next evening (Saturday 2nd Jan) and I need to pop into town I so jump in and turn it over. It took longer to fire up, the brake warning sounded again and the door mirrors did their flappy thing. The car had been driving long enough to reach operating temperature before pulling in and parking for a few moments. On returning and starting the car, there wasn't enough juice to turn it over. Naturally, I popped the bonnet and checked that the terminals were tight and so rang Skoda Assistance using the number given to me by the 'salesman' at the dealership. I assume that Skoda then rang the AA leading to a VW Transporter van in yellow livery attending. He too checked the terminals before testing the battery and then telling me the battery was dead and needed replacing at £235. He also explained that these EFB's have well known problems leading to premature failure. I explained that the car has full warranty so I had nothing to pay. He then said that I need to pay, then claim the money back. At this point, I found myself over a barrel because I need the car early Monday morning and it needs to start. Reluctantly, I paid and continued on my way. We now need to jump back to the initial sale five months or so ago. When I declared my serious interest, we went to the desk where the perks of buying a Skoda from them which included warranty and breakdown cover which was emphasised. I specifically asked if the warranty was of the full and no quibble variety to which he answered yes. I had already explained that I needed a car that came with nothing to worry about for twelve months. Feeling happy and reassured, I paid, leaving only a small balance for collection day. Collection day came and all appeared well. Back now to obtaining my refund....... I ring the dealership and ask to the salesman (my only point of contact) regarding the battery. I was told that it was his day off but he would phone the next day. This came and nearly went so I rang him again. He said that he remembers the sale and wanted to know what the problem was. I explain about the breakdown and replacement battery and ask him to implement my refund. He accepts that EFB's have known problems. He asked why I was charged, I didn't know. He then asked why I didn't just bring the car over, I reiterated that it was Saturday evening, it wouldn't start, I had to use it on the Monday and had no choice. I then asked him where he would have been at that time and he replied "At home", He then implied that what he meant was that batteries are not covered in my warranty so I reminded him that as well he knows, he sold me a car with a full warranty so in fact, they are. He then said that I should have looked in one of the booklets to see what wasn't covered, where I told him that he should have drawn it to my attention. He then claimed it was 'wear and tear' and that only electrical and mechanical faults were covered. At this point he gave up and asked for an invoice from the AA. It didn't take long to hear that what the AA sent to me wasn't good enough. I said that this problem is between Skoda and the AA and not me. He would not accept that and said that I need to contact the AA, get a usable invoice and send it to him. Only then will it be looked into. For what I believe was a good eight minutes, I couldn't get him to understand that I didn't have a contract with the AA, no contact information for the AA, nor a phone number because I never phoned them. Voices are now certainly raised but I'm not giving up! Eventually the Penny slowly drops and he grasps it....... So, he asks which number I rang, the number he gave me - the one for Skoda Assistance, Where did I get it from? It was on the print out that says which number to phone, that he gave me on collection day. I am startled that he then asked me for it. Nevertheless I give it the the call comes to an end. Next I receive an email saying that an invoice has been requested and when it arrives, it will be looked into, I shall then be contacted by the manager. A week went by so I emailed and said that I am about to escalate my request for a refund to Skoda Head Office, Trading Standards and also post an account on here. I am happy to report that this did the job. I had a reply from the manager saying that a cheque was soon to be in the post. It took a while but a cheque for the full amount has been received. I will never have anything to do with this dealership ever again. They have lost my MOT's servicing, repairs.... the bloomin' lot.
  15. I will testify in court and take a polygraph happily.
  16. It has killed it for me I'm afraid. I do think others need to know.
  17. I am no expert but have not long posted, mentioning that the car battery died. The evening before, I started loosing the automatic parking brake, door mirrors swinging in and out on their own. Next day started fine, nipped into town, wouldn't start again. AA man said that these original fit EFB car batteries have problems. Not often lasting three years, some are dying in less that 12 months.
  18. Well it has been a few months so thought I should write a few lines regarding my Superb estate..... Body colour. It really has grown on me! Unusual, different and an eye catcher on a sunny day when the gold flecks come to life. Drive. Wow! Smooth, quiet and squeak free. It has all the poke that I will ever need. Inside. Much better finish than my old Passat. So comfortable and this the first time I have had heated seats. More space than I know what to do with. Plenty of storage areas. It would be better if the rear view mirror turned darker than it does as I can still be dazzled by lorries and vans. This is a lovely car to drive. I think I have chosen well and hope for many enjoyable years in it. The only real negatives I have are with the Skoda dealership that (I believe) mis-sold the car to me regarding it's warranty. After only a few weeks of ownership, I had to pay for new key fob batteries because they were going flat and it was the only I would be able to drive the new car. When the engine battery died (not flat) on January the 2nd, it started with an argument with the dealership salesman! Perhaps I should give an account of this incident in the dealership section? Thanks for your interest, Benjum
  19. Hello all, Thought I'd say hello as a new forum member. I have been an Audi and VW driver for most of my life and decided a few weeks ago to renew my 56 plate Passat. I spotted a 67 plate Superb estate at the local Skoda dealership so went to have a look. I loved the front end styling with those flowing lines, the colour which is bronze brown metallic (magnetic brown) and the feel of the car on the road. The familiar layout of the dash, dials, buttons and switches was also reassuring. I placed a deposit on the car and collected it a week later. Such a quiet, smooth and comfortable drive! I am looking forward to enjoying the Superb for many years to come. Benjum.
