Identify noise please
This noise was present with my previous wheels and tyres, but due to overall noise it was more of a feeling. you have to listen closely, but there is a definite rhythmic pulsing “wrrmm..wrrmm ...wrrmm.” I thought it was wheel bearings but Skoda did not. it’s really noticeable at 115kph the new wheels and tyres made the recording possible

Road Noise
650km highway run completed on variety of surfaces. Very very Happy. 225/50r17's should be the standard tyre on this car. It is on the VW Passat in this country. According to GPS, the speedo is now showing the exact speed. (GPS and speedo show same)

Highway run completed. Very bearable, even with cheapie tyres. delighted with my return on investment. 225/50r17 should be the default on this car. Just like the Passat in Australia.

Road Noise
Think I can live with the difference to speed and ODO. I know the speed reads fast anyway. The arch gap loss is not noticeable. I guess its 0.5cm either side.

Road Noise
So after sticking 8.5kg of sound mat throughout my boot, bonnet, wheel arches, mud guards, underbody protection panels and skid pan in an effort to reduce road noise on Australian coarse chip surfaces I was a bit down hearted, the road noise had gone from being impossible to live with to a much better, less harsh, boominess. Better but not as good as I had hoped. So today I changed the wheels and tyres from 225/40r18 (7.5") to 225/50r17 I got an excellent deal on the 17" wheels from a 2020 Octavia buyer - 17x7" for AU$200 (EURO140-ish) - and went up from the recommended 215/50 to 225/50 (the VW Passat uses this size as standard) This was my last throw of the dice. First impression is "OMG!!!! HOW BLOODY GOOD!!!!": I am yet to do some Australian coarse chip freeway running, but on a couple of local roads the difference is incredible. I should have started with this change. It is soaking up the road imperfections with a soft bump, rather than a hard knock. And the while there is still a rumble on the coarse chip it seems much more muted. Only a true Highway run on the coarse stuff will show the worst. I'm very, very happy. The sound mat will also be helping no doubt, so no regret in the time and effort spent. I'll update when I have done a freeway run. I have 650km to drive tomorrow. Not dreading it now.

WTF is this?
Now I know it’s not #15

WTF is this?
Number 15 on this diagram is labeled as an over flow valve. It could be said item. It would be in the general area that I found it. If it is indeed the overflow valve, what does it overflow?

WTF is this?
Cleaning under and around my air filter housing and this rolled out. can anyone tell me what it is/does? it’s like a hard rubber screw in stopper.

Aircon not working and metallic fan noise when turned on
Thanks for this. had a roaring noise behind glovebox and metallic fan sound from behind radio. Regas fixed symptoms. bad news was it looks like my compressor control valve is on the way out.

Heater blowing cold on passenger side vents
No sorry. Also just found out my AC compressor may be on the blink too.

So, I’ve now done the boot, bonnet, wheel arches front and rear, engine skid pan and both underbody protection panels. I used 2mm butyl/aluminium sheeting (9kg, 2sqm) and rubber bitumen paint. +some EVA mat under the rear seat. I have not done the inside rear arches just the external. The aim has been to minimise overall road noise on Australian coarse chip bitumen. Has it been a success? Well, yes and no. The noise has changed. It’s much less harsh, more bass and boom. Overall more bearable for me in the cabin. But still nothing on my old 2011 Mondeo or the 2014 Pug505 I had as loaner last week. The fact I can now hear the boominess in the rear is testament that the butyl has helped with the higher frequency vibrations 👍🏻 I’m disappointed. Don’t think o can live with it as it stands. Up to 100kph it’s quite good, but I do many hwy miles at 115-120kph (70mph) and it just doesn’t stand up at those speeds. I guess now to look at the door sills and internal rear arches, anything else will just go in the too hard basket.

Unknown noise.
18x8 instead of standard 18x7.5

- Unknown noise.
New wheels from the dealer under statutory warranty. I settled on some after market PDW Corsa rims, rather than waste time. The difference is immense, so much less overall road noise and the rhythmic woom-woom-woom is gone. Skoda workshop was correct in their diagnosis.- Heater blowing cold on passenger side vents
I just got mine back from the same issue. New temp sensor, new gate motor and as my fan had been sticking, I got a new one of those too. (under used car statutory warranty)- Unknown noise.
current diagnosis - 3 wheels slightly buckled! Stupid 40 profile tyres.- Unknown noise.
New tyres, should have mentioned that and Skoda could hear the noise while on the hoist. as of yesterday they were going to change the wheels to see if it made a difference. Don’t what else they are doing. I have a loaner, so not really put out, would just rather have the car I bought- DSG Gear Knob - Chrome peeling
Oooo, I like that idea- Unknown noise.
So more a “throw my hands in the air” post than anything. But some suggestions would be good. Bought a 2014 Superb Outdoor 60k km on it, about a month ago from a VW dealer. Drove it for 2000km and took it back for some repairs under Statutory warranty. Aircon, not working and a guess at probably wheel bearings - grinding under load when going round corners and a woom-woom-woom noise when over 100kph. VW told me, nothing wrong with AC, and no play in bearings. I explained a bit more and insisted neither were OK. VW decided to give it to a Skoda workshop. Skoda workshop - AC requires new temp sensor, new gate motor and a new fan. Me -seems about right. What about the bearings? Skoda workshop - no play in bearing, but we had it up on the hoist and can hear the noise, so we’ve taken a recording and sent it to Skoda Me - riiiight. Pretty sure it’s the bearings. Skoda workshop - we don’t think so, there is no play. Me - did you take it for a drive? Skoda workshop - no, we put it on the hoist and could hear the noise Me - Ok then. 2 weeks have now passed. AC is fixed, but I don’t want the car back until the noise is fixed.- noise insulation
I know it’s the 3 forum, but it’s got the best info on noise suppression.- noise insulation
Given the tread pattern that surprises me. But also fits with a discussion I had with a mechanic over tyre feathering a few years ago.- noise insulation
Yep. Can hear the fuel sloshing when going slowly over speed humps in car parks. Seats fold forward so easy to access.- noise insulation
My intention too - Unknown noise.
