Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
Not convinced at all. I've had an EV for 8 days on holiday (ID4), and it ruined the whole holiday, being too scared to go very far because we were wasting time and money just looking for chargers, which were in very short supply, which meant that the ones we did find were either in use or out of order, or so slow that we had to waste 2 to 3 hours to get anything like a decent charge. All that is needed to convince me to go EV, is to be able to do fast charging at home, at a sensible cost, in a family sized estate, with a low level load line, that can reliably do 350 miles, that has 2 electric seats, with a SAT NAV designed for EVs (that actually works), at a price that is no more expensive that the equivalent sized ICE car, that is reliable, has 7 year warranty on everything, that will hold its value, and the Government to realise that the current and planned infrastructure is hopeless and get major changes put in place. Let me know if this every happens because I'd love to go EV, there is a lot to be gained, unfortunately it will not happen in the UK for another 10 to 15 years.

This is what I have found, far too many times, especially Tesla owners blocking Tesco and other FREE charge locations to use a 7KW charger. Not worth the hassle or the very real risk of being stuck with no option but to site and ait, possibly for hours at a time.

Thanks for estimated cost, which I cannot agree with. All the family car diesels that I've had over the last 10 years have all done in excess of 60mpg making your comparison somewhat biased towards EV. In fact, even my petrol Superb PHEV, easily does over 45 mpg, on a run, which is not great, but is a factor in my current usage. I can do most trips (by number not distance) using all electric which is great, with charging at home. In a year I am ding about 6000 miles on petrol and 2000 miles all electric. Not very far really to justify a diesel but they have better drivability for me, plus the economy. My biggest issue is on long trips, of which I do about 20 a year, all of which can be over 450 miles over a few days, or up to 1000 miles during a 2 week UK holiday, which we now have to do instead of going abroad . My experience of finding a charge point that is usable has been very poor at anywhere other than motorways where you have to queue, potentially for hours, and where there is no queuing system to make it work fairly, which is pretty silly, plus there is no way to put my car whilst waiting. The decision NOT to go all electric is based on wanting to use the latest super fast chargers to get the benefit of not having top stop for 2 hours just to get enough charge to get home, or having to pay over 69p per kwh at current rates on motorways and out of the way sites, where there is no competition. The energy crisis has already hit petrol but the biggest rise will come very soon for electricity both at home and on commercial public chargers, therefore your current rates on not realistic. I will not join any subscription schemes because they are not good value for my limited use. Pay as you go rates will get ever more expensive in an attempt to encourage subscription customers. Until the government "gets a grip", instead of "messing about" with the EV charging system the UK will be a very bad place to be, except for Tesla drivers, who have the least reliable cars , and are overpriced, but if you gave me one I would have it and put up with the problems, maybe !!! I'll reconsider the whole EV thing in maybe 3 year time, but for now its a big NO for me.

Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
I've had my PHEV for almost 18 months now and I'm looking to go back a diesel because of a host of major issues with going all electric. For me the very high loading height at the rear has recently become a big issue since I now have to load / unload a wheelchair in the back, and every EV is much higher off the ground that older style estate cars that are NON-EV. I don't see that changing because it is the basic design for all EVs that I've seen. Skoda still have no idea about to be "digital" in electric cars. The Sat Nav software and database updating is still a complete mystery to Skoda (who obviously outsource it all), and there is too little genuine EV stuff to help the driver - SKODA need to fully utilise software such as ZAPMAP, and WAZE. The Connect app is still only a test version as far as functionality and reliability is concerned. The Voice control (Laura) is hopeless at understanding almost anything. The distance that you travel on electric only is a bit of a joke in my PHEV. I've manged to get as much 42 miles in absolute eco driving mode, being perfect weather (warm and no wind, not use /ac or lights or any other electric draining stuff), constant speed of 40 mph, no roundabouts etc. But at the other extreme, only managed 16 miles on full charge, with normal town driving in cold weather with heating on etc. This is no way to encourage the use of any sort of electric car. Until the supposed range is over 450 miles, all electric cars are not viable for "normal motoring", since the real range will then maybe be around 300 miles, which is minimum that I would be happy with. The provision of low cost charging with fast or superfast charges will not happen for 20 years. This means that the cost of a mile travelled will be MORE than the equivalent ICE car since commercial suppliers charge an extortionate amount at public charge points, especially on motorways. If you cannot do ALL of your charging at home then EVs are not going to be viable, and there will be revolution come 2028 just before the UK tries to stop NON-EV new car sales.

Superb MKiv 2021 SatNav. Issues.
Just been and checked my car (9th March 2022) and without any notifications from the car my Sat Nav Database (maps) is now showing 22.1 (assume this is Jan 2022), and the Software id now updated to 0276 (previously 0270). After 18 months of being told "it is automatic with the (paid for) Skoda Connect service", and it never having worked, it has actually happened all on its own. Still can't get "Laura" (voice control) to understand where we want go, but I keep trying !!! Would be great if everyone else did a check on their Sat Navs to find out if Skoda have got this working everywhere. But remember if your car is more than 1 year old, or you have not registered for Skoda Connect, you may never get the updates because it is a paid for service - (I had to pay £80 for the 2nd year).

Superb MKiv 2021 SatNav. Issues.
Hi John How did you get your Nav DB to be 22.1. I had my Superb IV with the dealer for 2 weeks to try to get this done and they had no idea what to do. Then on a another visit taking another 2 days at the dealer, "SOMETHING JUST HAPPENDED", whilst they were investigating other faults, and all of a sudden I had a later version of the NAV database. I heard lots of "stories" about what "should" happen but not seen any evidence that the car actually ever does anything on its own, which it is supposed to do.

Superb MKiv 2021 SatNav. Issues.
Report the problem to dealer. See if you can get a "stay and wait" service booking so that they can check the software version and check for errors in the system log. Not much chance of a quick fix, but it is possible that there is a known problem. You should also report it SKODA UK customer services so that they are aware of your problem, since they may also have some other owners with the same sort of problem. Never give up on the problem like this - it is totally unreasonable for any new car to have this sort of fundamental failure.

Hi Pete No information from Skoda about what the software updates were for, so no way to know if anything has been fixed. I am in touch with Gemma Gough: [email protected] Customer Relations Manager 01137334217 She has been "assisting" with my problems, and coordinating with my dealer in Milton Keynes (Marshall). Might be worth an email to Gemma since she is

Update navigation- SD card missing
Just done 500 miles after my car was in with the dealer for 2 WEEKS to do map updates and check out a number of software issues. There were some software updates but no information about what the updates fixed (as usual). HOWEVER, as if by MAGIC (technician no idea how it happened), my map database is now showing date of 21/9 (previously 20/9). No long winded download either, or any notification that it had done anything - strange me thinks !!! No way to tell yet about anything new on the map not previously there , but good to see the update. I have been told by Skoda UK (Exec office) that I will get map updates automatically when I use the sat nav that goes into an area where a map update is available, and it should ask if I want to download it. I don't believe this is how it will work -- Has anyone else been told this is the way it works.

Travel Assist KPH/MPH
Hi Pete I had to leave my car with Skoda dealer for 2 weeks to see what could be done about a number of software problems, including kph/mph. I was told that Skoda "know" about the problem but that there is no fix yet. HOWEVER, after some software updates done at the dealer, I have done 500 miles and no road sign issues with kph/mph - still a bit early to say it's fixed, I now have a NEW message on the Virtual cockpit "Exceeded speed of 120 kph (should be mph).

Travel Assist KPH/MPH
What evidence of the MPH/KPH issues were you able to give to the dealer / how did you convince them that you had a problem. How did the dealer convince you that the virtual cockpit has solved the problem. How far have you driven since the fix to be confident that the issue has been resolved. I have my car in with a dealer next week for up to a week so that they can gather evidence about a number of issues, including mph/kph, because they will not beliive my photos taken of the sat nav screen. Which dealer did you use. Maybe my dealer (Marshall) can call them and ask about the fix.

Travel Assist KPH/MPH
How has the dealer made a link between the fault and a solution ? Is the virtual cockpit that is being replaced, software, or a new physical display unit. It's likely that a new display unit will have different software loaded just because it will be later build, in which case there could be lots of updated software to be installed so that everything still works together. Please keep the forum updated with progress.

Update navigation- SD card missing
It's not the type of card that's the problem, it's that fact there there is no SD card reader in the car to put one into. It's that same in my Superb, hence the suggestion from Skoda to use a USB memory card and plug it into the USB port , which can be used by the media option in the car to play music, or read photos, EXCEPT is DOES NOT WORK, the system does not accept the USB memory card as being for the maps, so no update takes place.

Update navigation- SD card missing
Skoda are refunding my £80 for Connect annual fee because on-line map updates not working. I was told to try the map download to my laptop and then put it on a USB stick, which I have done but the car does not know that the laps exist when plugged into the car USB port so nothing happens.

Superb iV 3 pin charging
I'm not using a commercial charging unit at all. It is a weatherproof external 13 amp socket. I understand the limitations (takes 5 hrs 20 mins to fully charge), but I have no need currently for anything faster. The least time to do full charge for me (and you as well probably) is about 4 hours when using a FREE 7kw unit at Tesco. This is the restriction on the car, not the charging unit.

Update navigation- SD card missing
Hi The online updates (over the air / internet) are officially not available at this time (Oct/2021), with no known date for the service being back. This is a disgraceful situation for a service that all those owners with this kind of info unit (MIB) have paid for, either in the cost of the car from new ( 1 year free), or via a subsequent payment of about £80 for another year. Skoda should be ashamed of this level of customer service.

Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
Thks for trying. I'm having the same problem looking through lots of post because the search function is not too good on here, and people don't use the "tagging" function on the new posts, which would make searching easier. The only way that we get the links is if there is a moderator or some other expert on the forum who picks up these sort of requests.

Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
My belief on battery life is simple. Whilst I have the car if the battery goes below the level in the warranty I will expect a full replace for free, therefore I'm not that bothered about the slow reduction in performance. In addition I also believe that all of the newish batteries in cars (post 2020) are built with spare capacity which will be used by the battery management system on the car so that within the 8 years warranty time the manufacturer will not have to do anything.

Our Octavia iV now has fully-working software
Hi I've just seen you post, but there is no previous reference to what sort of software faults you were having. I have lots of software faults on a Superb IV 2020, L&K with what is probably the same MIB. Can you say what software problems you have had fixed please. I have another thread on this, and same problems have been aired on the forum. Your experience of getting a new piece of hardware (the MIB chips / computer) to fix software problems does not seem right. As an experienced computer person, I can relate to problems of compatibility between different versions of software and hardware, however for I suspect in this case the solution has been hidden by swapping BOTH the hardware and software ( new software would have come with the new MIB). My guess is that the dealer had no idea what really caused the problems, but the way it was fixed is good to know, and I think his way of getting a working solution for you has to be applauded, but I doubt it will be a solution that Skoda will adopt for anyone else. My car goes in to my dealer tomorrow, for "software updates", and for the download of the maps that my car will not download on it's own, however I doubt that they will actually achieve anything, but I have made contact with the "EXEC", people at Skoda UK, who are "watching" what happens. I now have the same message from SKODA UK, that the online map updates are "currently not available, and a fix for this does not have a date for being fixed". All very unhelpful for a car that they claim to be their "FLAGSHIP" product.

Superb iV cruising mpg
Motorways are a dangerous place to drive economically at around 50 mph. Setting to acceleration mode to ECO can be dangerous when trying to overtake because it takes too long for the car to overtake if you simply allow the car decide what to do. If you do use eco mode then you really need to judge the traffic and use manual acceleration to ensure to quick and safe way to overtake. Getting 45 to 50 mpg on a motorway on petrol only is reasonable if you are able to drive consistently at say 65 to 70 mph. From my experience, if you are in Hybrid mode with regen on ( B mode) you will get better mpg at a slightly slower speed, when safe to do so, of 60 to 65 mph, because you will get more regen, therefore more battery assistance, therefore better overall mpg. It's good to know that when you use "B" mode that there is always a bit of battery left to go really quick, if you need to, since the combination of battery and petrol is awesome.

Superb iV 3 pin charging
Hi I've had my superb IV for 13 months. I always charge at home on 3 pin plug, via the higher rated cooker circuit (30 amps) since we never use the cooker. I have it as an extension to an outside wall box. No problems at all. I charge up almost every time I use any battery so that it's nearly max charge whenever I go out. Using max re-charge I have had at best 42 miles range on a full charge, in perfect conditions, both weather and driving style (almost no stops and on dual carriageway, ding about 45 mph in 6th gear). My normal around town is only about 25 mpg on 100% charge. There has not yet been any obvious drop in battery capability, but I've only dome about 3000 miles all electric, and about 4000 all petrol. Interesting the views on regen V coasting. I've not tested this yet, but on a recent 110 mile trip, mainly motorway at about 50mph, I managed to get 38 miles before electric went to zero, then got another 8 miles from regen, which seemed good to me. Average was about 130mpg for mix of battery and petrol. My average on petrol only is about 48 mpg. Overall, the way I use this car is no different to how I used to drive my previous Superb 2.0 diesel TDI, which gave a much better overall mpg, but I bought the IV because I can do almost all my local driving totally electric, which is what I wanted.
