Satnav/ACC switching between MPH and KPH
Hi superb21 I have tried to get skoda uk customer services to get involved but they have passed the issue back to me to get my local dealer to investigate. My local dealer did nothing but report the issue to skoda uk "technical" dept. My next dealer visit is this week, but I'm not expecting any of my issues to get fixed since they have no idea what is in the software update yet. Have you had any MAP updates since you got the car. Another forum member has recently confirmed that he has had one which gave him maps dated August 2021 via the automatic on-line update service (Skoda connect), which I have with my Columbus info system, but I cannot get any updates since the car was new in Sept 2020.

Satnav/ACC switching between MPH and KPH
I've seen this problem in lots of places around the country so it's not an MK related issues. Living in MK I see it at least once a week driving around. When I noticed it I have sometimes gone back down he same route to check but it hardly ever happens twice, and it's not always when in ACC mode. I'm sure it's link to another bug with road signs which are sometimes different to what the sat nav thinks is the speed for the road, especially on roads with temp speed limits.

Reduce oil level - Error message after service
Hi recently got the is error message after a standard service on my Superb IV 2020. Phoned dealer and told to ignore it. It is still there every time I switch on, which is now 4 weeks. The oil level on the dip stick is showing just higher than the top mark. Is this a problem or not. I would prefer not to keep seeing the error message.

Columbus Map Update 2021 (MIB1/2 HIGH)
Thks for that info. If someone can point to any thread that give info on how it HAS been done, not the theory.😊 My car has had the skoda connect service active for a year, the I renewed it, so its still active. My car links to my internet at home OK, so in theory the Skoda system SHOULD have made the maps available for download but hasn't. The 1st question is, HAVE any updated maps been made available to anybody since Sept 2020. Current Nav / Map date is: 20/07 2nd: has anyone had a notification via their car that an update is available 3rd: how do you get the map to download 4th: how long does it take to update 5th: does it change the map date in the car

Sat Nav issue on Skoda Superb Estate 1.5 tsi Tech 2020 model
What is the model and year of the superb. Do you know which info unit the car has. Is it a UK model. It's possible that the map for Spain is either out of date or not loaded. I'll have a look at mine in the morning. You may have to rely on phone app like Waze, Google, or even ZapMap if you're going to be looking for charging points.

Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
Which electric miles on a full charge are you getting - I average about 25 miles on day to day driving around town, about 32 on a run without much gear changing, and best I've done in perfect conditions has been 42 miles with regen on (drive Mode "B"). On my L&K 2020 model there is a selection option for retaining battery level when driving that varies from nothing to about 90%, or are you asking about something else. This is supposed to allow use of battery somehow until the end of your drive so that you can, for example, hold it back for a congestion zone. Never used it to check how it works though, since I like to use up all the battery first on every run, then just rely a bit more electric from regen mode.5

Sat Nav issue on Skoda Superb Estate 1.5 tsi Tech 2020 model
Are you still using the Skoda sat nav or are now using something else. I have had similar issues with the sat nav choosing odd routes, plus getting stuck in "Starting" mode whilst driving with a route set. Reported to Skoda and dealer but so far no fix.

Is Columbus trying to kill me?
I have only had my car in for a service once but I also found that the primary driver was NOT being loaded when I switch on. It took a few days to realise what was happening. Easy to fix so all OK now.

Satnav/ACC switching between MPH and KPH
Hi I have had the same issues on my Superb IV L&K for about 8 months. Reported to Skoda Uk and my dealer, neither of them believe it because they have not seen it happen. I gave some photos of it happening to the dealer who has passed the issue (with many others) to Skoda technical. It' seems to be random for me however, I have noted the same road in Milton Keynes happen twice, but it does not happen every time. The speed changes back from Kilometres as soon as it se the next road sign. This is potentially very dangerous since it links in with the ACC (cruise control) which takes the speed from the road signs to make the car accelerate to that speed which means that you will be breaking the speed limit until hitting the brakes, or change the speed on the ACC. I was told yesterday that I have 3 fixes to be applied, but the dealer does not know what these fixes do. What a great system they have.

Superb iV software
Hi. I have the L&K IV with 10 screen and the virtual cockpit - Columbus Info system, so many things will be different, including the version number. I am having about 6 minor issues that I know to be software that skoda has so far failed to fix after 5months. I'll do a list on a new thread later today so that other owners can see is they have the same issues. Yesterday I was told that there are fixes for some of my issues and hopefully will be able to report in the next few weeks if anything is better, or worse. From what I understand the basic version shown on your system is a sort high level release reference and the various specific fixes that are added are not reflected in this version being changed so it's impossible for owners to know what extra bits have been changed the factory delivery.

Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
Have you reported your failed charge events to a dealer. I have a number of issues logged with my dealer and I was told yesterday that there are 3 different software "fixes" to do with charging and sat nav. The dealer does not know exactly what is supposed to be fixed but it proves that it's worth asking to get EVERY fix that has been made available so that you can avoid known problems, or get fixes for issues that you already have. It's a pity the SKODA cannot get the online software updates working since it is clear that this is how these fixes should be getting done WITHOUT a dealer being involved. "Should have bought a Tesla" !!!!

The total package for a safe and reliable EV (electric only) is going to be very expensive, especially for serious drivers who must have their car available every day for long distances (200 plus miles a day, which does not include me) must make some serious decisions about backup facilities, which will be a big initial expense. You can of course have 2 cars - 1 EV and the other non-EV. Here is a potential use for the old EV batteries, since these can be installed at home (needs quite a big space) to provide a permanently charged up electric supply to be used when the mains electric is off (usually the idea is to charge this very large home battery system overnight using very cheap electricity - but not this week). And / or you will need your own power generation capability - solar or wind or both. None of this is really viable yet but it's coming, and will become common place for new housing in 5 to 10 years time.

The benefits that you quote are not that clear cut. 1. Cheap running only applies to the FUEL ONLY costs, and even then only if you ONLY charge at home - the total cost of ownership for a similar size EV and non-EV car are almost always more over 3 years for an EV, but EV prices are failing but only slowly. - if you have to buy electricity away from home and use a super fast charger for an EV, then is can cost you up to 25 per mile compared to about 10p a mile for petrol 2. EV torque is feature of most electric cars, but not all. The cheaper EVs are no better than a turbo petrol or diesel. - some expensive EVs (over £45,000) do give amazing amounts of power at all speeds, and can be quicker than super expensive non-EV sportscars - for most people the way a car can accelerate is not an essential factor. As long as the non-EV car provides a safe way to overtake it will be OK. 3. Not running of fuel is one off. Next week it could be that we have power cuts and then there of no use at all, this is real problem in years to come if we start relying on Russia for our gas (which we use to create a lot of our electricity).

The charger was a 50KW unit so quite quick compared to my car which can only do 3kw per hour. We only needed another 50 miles to get to our holiday site so it only too about another hour to get what we needed. When we got to the caravan we were able to use a slow speed cable on a 13amp plug to charge up overnight.

Superb IV - L&K 1 year on
Hi MarkyG82. Thks for the explanation. I didn't note above that I also hired an ID4 for 8 days so my comments also reflected that usage as well as m PHEV. However, for someone wanting a safe introduction to EVs, without the risk and much higher cost, a PHEV is perfect, since you can experience almost all of the same issues that you might have with an EV, without being too worried to go a long distance and get stuck at a charge point with no battery only to find that it's not working, which I almost had with the ID4 in Cornwall. I had to wait for 2 hours to get someone to get the only charge point for 20 miles to be made operational.

MarkyG82 To be able get what I wanted from an EV 2 years ago, I needed to know more than just he hype about the low cost running of an EV, which I now know is hype since it still costs more to run an EV for 3 years than the equivalent petrol car. 2 years ago what was on offer for a car the size of a Superb cost over £50,000 - silly money, hence buying the PHEV from Skoda since I knew and liked the Superb in diesels already. What I have now, Superb IV L&K is a great car (apart from some software bugs) since it has convinced me that the UK is not yet a good place to rely on electric only in a car the size I need, especially since the grant has now been removed from all the cars that can do over 300 miles which is the minimum I will accept as viable given the cost and poor availability of charging points away from home. The PHEV allows me to do lots of small trips all electric when at home which is compromise that I have accepted since it has saved me a lot of pain (and money) buying the wrong EV. My current view is that I need to wait another few years until true cost of an EV of the size I need gets to be about the same as a petrol car, and the charging network is far more reliable and available in locations other than motorways and main trunk roads. Another new problem though, is that if electricity prices keep going up, the main financial benefit will be substantially reduced.

Online Map Update
Great. What Info system / model year of car How did you know that an update was available what did you have to do to get it to download how long did it take what is the date / version of the UK map what error message have you had when trying to do more recent updates how many time have you done map updates online

Online Map Update
This is not helpful. This all assumes that Skoda UK make a map update available to download, which they have not done so far in 2020 or 2021. Looking back to 2018 at least proves that outside UK someone managed to get the process to work, which is something. Has anyone in the UK been able to do the online map update in 2021. I had a call from my dealer today to try the USB download AGAIN - Skoda UK obviously have no idea what there doing yet.

Online Map Update
I think it's fair to use any means possible to get a supplier to provide the service that has been paid for, I just sign-up to twitter just to do that when I don't trust social media at all. I've now raised Formal complaint with Skoda UK, which has been totally useless, so now I'm complaining to the Skoda head office. Everyone who has this problem should try to escalate it, AND anyone who has managed to get it to work should reply to this forum with the details and how they did it please.

Not sure where I saw the other thread now. If I find it again I will added to my thread.
