  1. I agree that signalling may give the car an "idea" that you are about to overtake and speed up by itself, however you should be aware that, if this is the standard way that it works, then it is dangerous, since when changing to a slower lane it is the last thing you want to happen. Therefore in my opinion, you should not totally rely on the ACC to safely overtake on its own. It is very easy to slip the Superb into sport mode for overtaking if you need to (assuming you have DSG with Sport mode on the Gear shift, as with the petrol or diesel cars), however if you getting the Hybrid then the Sport mode is a button and is not as easy to use for a quick change. OR just use your foot on the accelerator until you get back in lane and decide on the speed for ACC. If you are getting a new Superb 2024 version then the DSG is totally different and no idea how it works.
  2. Hi - The ACC will slow down whenever a car in front is going slower than the speed you have selected. Assuming that there is space to overtake then you simply use the accelerator as normal to increase your speed until you complete the move. The ACC is always overridden by the use of the accelerator. HOWEVER, be aware that once you stop using the accelerator the car will slow down to the pre-set speed, therefore you need to adjust the ACC speed to match the new speed after overtaking. If your ACC speed is already set to be faster than the car in front then as soon as you pull out into the overtaking lane the ACC will start to accelerate to the pre-set speed without intervention - the only problem with allowing the ACC to complete the overtaking without you taking control is that it may be too slow at getting to a safe speed to complete the move, hence its best to use your gears and accelerator as needed, to be safe, then go back to ACC to control the speed.
  3. Hi. I now have a new Superb SEL 2023 - April /23 - the version I have on SAT NAV is 5/23 (May 2023). The must have updated automatically (over internet) sometime after I took delivery in April / 23.
  4. Does another else have an automatic "feature" on their Superb, that will slightly open the front windows when you open the door, and then the windows close on shutting. I've been told that it might be to ease the air pressure on the inside to allow the doors to close more easily, given that the door seals are so good ! Is this a designed in function or a fault ???
  5. Hi brice1706. My Superb stopped doing the KM/Miles random changes about a year ago without the dealer knowing why. They did have my car for 2 weeks though, and it came out with latest map updates and it also started doing the ad hoc over the airways software updates that had NEVER worked before. I use the ACC all the time and have never noted a problem when overtaking on any roads, EXCEPT, that if you totally rely on the ACC for overtaking you run the risk of ALL of the other technology getting involved that might perceive a risk of collision if you get too close to any object close to your car during the lane change, including the central barrier, or the car just in front of you, or to the side if you get too close at any point, or even a speed sign that shows a speed lower than your want to go during the overtaking period. I never let the ACC do the overtaking, I override the ACC with my foot on the accelerator, then let the ACC take over after passing, which I think is what is supposed to happen. I have never seen Skoda advise that overtaking to be part of the supplied ACC system since they are no yet in to automated driving modes, even though much of the technology is on more recent cars. It's possible that because my car also has predictive ACC that it might respond differently, but I doubt it.

Based on my own experience, and from what I've seen on this forum, yes, you should follow the route that's worked for other owners. 1. take a screen shot from this forum about the software version 0278 - this will prove that an update is needed and is POSSIBLE 2. take the info from me that the sat nav database is at 22/4, which means that this update is also possible. 3. list all the little problems that you may be having with the car, such as poor electric range, road signs in KPH not MPH, software updates not happening OTA etc 4. Log a complaint with SKODA UK before booking with the dealer - this way the dealer will get better support from tech support at Skoda HQ 5. make sure you get a FREE loan car whilst they work on your car since it may take days not hours, and this is a warranty problem NOT YOUR CHOICE 6. make sure that the dealer confirms that they know what to do BEFORE leaving your car (tell then to contact Skoda UK tech support team) One excuse for my OTA updates not working was that I had not added my data of birth to my online user profile - how totally stupid if that is true !!!, so get the dealer to check that your registration / profile is complete (it does restrict some of the Connect services working). It should only take a few MONTHS to sort out !!!
  7. You are correct to state that this what Skoda tell you to do. The "story" is that Skoda actually believe that this is a viable method of doing a map update - this only proves yet again the people at Skoda has no idea about digital cars, and what is good for customers of very expensive cars.
  8. I was given this "story" as well by Skoda uk. I tried it. It took a very long time to download, and it did NOT work. It is unbelievable that Skoda take out the SD card reader in the Superb and then have the cheek to make you pay an annual subscription to get map downloads via a USB stick, which for most owners also DO NOT work. Because the download software did not work on my car during the first year (free Skoda connect service) Skoda refunded my 2nd year subscription (£82). After my car spent 2 weeks at a Skoda dealer, with no explanation from the dealer, both my software and the maps had been updated. I now get map updates. Currently on map 22/4 (April 2022). Note there is no indication that a map update has happened. You have to look is settings and check the versions / date to find out.
  9. Hi Good news on the software front - I now know that my software is out of date (currently only 0276) despite 4 minor updates in the last 3 weeks. You may be right about the connect service and software updates - it would be silly for basic car function corrections being a paid for service. However I note that your NAV database is still on 2021 / Jan - mine went to 22/4 yesterday - do you have a current Connect service, if not maybe that is why you are not on the latest database for maps
  10. Hi Chris You need to make a formal complaint to SKODA UK, and get an Exec assistant from Skoda to take charge of your problem. Skoda will then coordinate the solution with your dealer. I had the same thing. It took my dealer (Marshall Milton Keynes) 2 weeks with my car to get the OTA software to update and get the map database up to date. The dealers are all useless with the OTA stuff. It is true that all the updates comes via skoda but you almost certainly need the dealer to do a software updates before your car will be able to do OTA updates on its own. My car is the L&K IV, without an SD card. Since the "fix" I've had one map update OTA, and 3 software updates OTA. The software version does not seem to change the version Mine is 0276, but the map database does change - mine is now 22/3. Another owner on this forum has a software version of 0278, so there is most certainly more updates to come. Just a reminder you MUST have paid for the Skoda Connect service to be active after the first year otherwise you will never get any updates OTA. As part of the solution to my complaint to Skoda I was given a refund of my 2nd year subscription to skoda connect service (about £80) so worth asking for the same.

  12. If you are getting between 2.9 and 2.4 mi/kwh for your electric only trips then the car should be showing estimated range (after full charge) of between 30 and 35 miles. My last trip was only 4 miles with a mi/kwh of 2.8, and my est range, after full charge is now set to 30 miles. Keep a check on what you are showing after each charging session so that you can watch out for variations, and then ty to work out why it varies so much - this will normally be driving style / type of road / use of /ac etc. Interesting that you are getting a 7kw wall unit. The superb can only charge at a max rate of 3.6 kw/hour, and your 13 amp home supply will already do 3kw/hour, which all that I have. The 13 amp home supply takes me 5 hrs 20 mins to do a full charge. Using a 7kw charger will still take around 4 hours. Try charging for FREE at one of the Tesco chargers - check your local area and use the Tesco web site to search for chargers.
  13. Hi globalste I think that you are being fooled by the miles per kwh figure of 4.4 in your example. When using the app you can toggle between mi/kwh and mpg for each journey. I believe that if you toggle to mph on your example trip (21 miles) that you will find that the figure will be less than 313 mpg, maybe around180 to 200 mpg. If I'm right that will prove that the journey was not all electric and that you car switched to petrol for a small part of the trip. If the trip had been all electric (and there was still electric power left then the mpg would have to be 313pmg because that it the mac range that the computer will set when it is ONLY an electric powered trip. With a REAL mi/kwh figure of 4.4 you would have been able to complete a trip of at least 30miles may a bit more without going on to petrol. The best way that you can tell how well you are driving, in terms of max range on electric, is to watch part of digital cockpit display that show current and cumulative info about mi/kwh whilst driving the the (not Hybrid mode). If you cannot see this info then you can get a good idea by looking at the estimated range after you have fully charged (before you set off). This figure will show you what that car has calculated you will get on your next trip IF YOU DRIVE EXACTLY the same way as you did on your last trip. It is NOT an actual range, it is a GUESS by the car. If you drive differently (eg. use more electric accessories in the car, and a lot of low gear, rapid acceleration etc, or go ultra ECO mode on an open road) you will get more or less than the estimate. Any technician that tells you that you must use Hybrid mode obviously has never driven a PHEV. The main thing about PHEV it that you can always do shortish journeys totally petrol free, which is great. If you are planning along trip then Hybrid is OK because you know that you will need the petrol engine so its best to let the car decide the best way to use the electric power (Hybrid with auto selected). Personal examples: Best ever electric only journey: Actual distance travelled was 40 miles with 2 miles left in the battery. This was TOTAL ECO running mode in warm weather Worst: 16 miles driving in winter, with heated seats on for a short while, and a/c running - this was before my FIX at Northampton Skoda (see below). Best Hybrid trip: 150 miles in total in Hybrid auto mode from the start - the car journey info showed that my mpg was 85mpg, with 48 miles by electric - this trip was mainly motorway doing between 55 - 60 mph almost all the way, no electric accessories running. Skoda fix by Northampton (Marshall). My car stop charging with red light on the cable used for connecting to my 13amp supply at home. I thought it was the cable. Local Milton Keynes skoda dealer (also Marshall) told me to take it to Northampton where they had more trained staff. A different cable was connected and gave the same fault. Left the car for 6 hours. On return the technician told me that it was a software fault which had been installed, and it fixed the problem. Prior to this I hade made a number of complaint to the dealer and to skoda UK (back in Nov/ Dec 2020). It was very clear that SKODA UK had no idea about faults on what was a new car (PHEV), and that virtually nobody knew about any known problems, or about the error codes. After the "FIX", as if by magic, my car started doing over 25 miles on a full charge, which got better in warm weather. It is my belief that my car was NEVER getting a full charge even though the car thought is was 100%, OR the car failed to use all of the battery power that it had been charged with. I also suspect that the software in the car can control which part of the physical battery it will use since I know that none of the batteries are 100% used because the cells fail over time and the software makes changes to which parts of the battery are in use (spare cells), however over a long period maybe 8 to 10 years the amount of cell failures gets so high that the usable amount of battery runs down when the spares are used up.
  14. Hi global ste 20 miles on electric with a full charge is poor, HOWEVER, it all depends on how you drive. Even if you car tells you that it thinks it can go 40 miles on electric only that does not mean that it will if you switch on electric seats, a/c, and drive around in low gear for most of the time. The electric will be used up mainly by all the things you do that switch on first. Only way to get better range on electric only is to drive in high gears at a constant speed of about 40mph, in warm weather. If you can test it by driving in ECO mode on a known road at a constant speed and you still only get 20 miles range then you have a fault somewhere. I had this sort of problem when I first got my car 18 months ago and the dealer said that it was a software fix. NO idea what they really did but it increased my range to upto 42 miles on 100% charge driving in TOTAL eco mode. Currently with normal mix of driving around home I'm getting about 26 miles range.

  16. Hi This part of the forum is for the superb IV (Plugin hybrid) so not all electric. Max charge rate is limited to 3.6 kw / hour I think.
  17. Re- KPH / MPH on virtual display - it has been over 3 months since my "fix" (no idea what was done) and I'm happy to report I have not seen the problem since. HOWEVER, I now get a new "bug" which is related I think. Having set my max speed alert to 75mph, I now get a message showing 120KPH instead of 75 mph. Related info to be shared: I've had small 3 software updates over the last 2 week (May/22) over the internet which proves that it's working, HOWEVER, my release number is still set as 0276, which I assume is not as up to date as it should be based on a recent post showing release as 0278. As usual there is NO info on what has been fixed in the release notes.
  18. this is very interesting. This is obviously not a UK car, so I wonder if dealers outside UK get different level of service. My superb IV 2021, recently had a software update but only to 0276 from 0270. However my sat nav map database is now 22/3 (newer than shown on the above picture) !!!

  20. Hi. R U talking about "software" or the Sat nav map updates that R supposed to be around every 6 months. I had an online software update about 2 weeks ago but the the "version" number on the car did not change, however it has been at least 3 months since I last saw the KPH (Instead of MPH) appear on road signs, HOWEVER I now get a new failure being that when I go above 74 mph I get a warning that should be in MPH, but comes out as KPH.. The supposed fix just created a different fault. As afar as I can see SKODA have no idea about how software should used in a car and know even less about how to to test it. Which does not make me feel very safe since almost everything that runs the car now has a software element to it.

One thing that is very clear is that the hotel staff, in general, are not interested in either promoting the charge points in their adverts, or do not protect them from mis-use, or cannot be bothered to effectively manage them, by which I mean organising sort sort of queue system to stop one user hogging the site longer than needed. Another issue is that on cost - apart from the chargers that have contactless payment you have no idea how much it is going to cost, and ZAP map is not good enough to keep this info up to date.

If using the superb IV there is very little scope for "holding back much charge" if you only start out with about 25 mile of electric range, and I do not believe that this sat nave is good enough to do this, it barley gets the best route in any conditions, let alone know where the zones start and stop, and to "guess" how far you will be travelling on electric only.
  23. I can see the sense in high mileage users going electric, and that is the biggest target for the Government, as it should be for the biggest gain from an ECO point of view. I used to be one of those people, and if I was now, (retired 5 years ago) I would have been an early adopter of cars like the Tesla. Now being in a very different situation, EVs are not going to fit my new lifestyle for a very long time.
  24. There was a time, when I first got this PHEV, with charging at around 12p per KWH, on a 7kw charger, and at about 4p per mile when charging at home, that I thought EV was defo the way to go. But it is very different now. My home electric cost has already more than doubled BEFORE the increase in April this year, and the likely 50% more (at least) later this year, and next. I used to be on a fixed deal that was great, but of course that was lost when the supplier went bust. That makes the comparison with ICE cars a very much closer thing. If I did a total cost of ownership over 3 years then EV is a big extra cost, in part because of the very large extra cost to buy the EV in the first place. If this silly Government was serious about EV ownership it would be increasing the the grants not running them down to nothing.
  25. Sounds great - but why blame hybrid drivers. That may well be your experience but so what. Any stupid EV or PHEV driver doing the same is why it will never work as easily as going to the local petrol station, or home charging. It sound to me as though you the sort of river that stops me from doing the same sort of thing. If I lived next to a free charge point I'd be there whenever I could as well, but I'd never risk it for very long, and I would certainly not sit in the car wasting my life away for hours just to get a free charge. This is most likely people who work near these points, so the fault is really with how Tesco, and other sites manage usage, which of course they don not do at all.
