  1. My comparison is NOT about actual on the road mileage achieved - it is very simply what the car "thinks" it can do BEFORE you even switch the engine on.
  2. this extract is the best I can find - from Skoda European brochure ŠKODA SUPERB iV 27. 5. 2019 The SUPERB iV is powered by a 1.4 TSI petrol engine delivering 115 kW (156 PS) and an 85 kW electric motor. The maximum power output is 160 kW (218 PS). Battery The new ŠKODA SUPERB iV is the brand’s first production model to feature plug in hybrid technology. By combining an efficient petrol engine with an electric motor, it offers particularly eco friendly mobility without compromising on performance. The battery has a capacity of 37 Ah and 13 kWh of energy: the car’s CO2 emissions are less than 40 g/km and the all electric range is up to 55 km (in the WLTP cycle). The ŠKODA SUPERB iV fulfils the Euro 6d TEMP emissions standard. The battery can be charged conveniently at home overnight, for example, using a standard plug socket or in 3 hours 30 minutes using a wall box with a charging output of 3.6 kW. The socket for the charging cable is located behind a flap in the radiator grille. The ŠKODA SUPERB iV is also able to recharge or maintain the level of charge in the battery while driving, using its petrol engine and brake energy recovery. This allows drivers to cover a longer journey’s ‘last mile’ – in a city, for example – again without producing any emissions there.
  3. I have had my Superb Iv for 2 months - done 1300 miles - recharged at least 40 times. Is there any way to improve the battery performance. Best I've had is 27 miles range stated on the car display after full charge (100%), BEFORE any driving. Over the last 2 weeks his has dropped to 22 miles. It's not the cold weather. Given that SKODA have claimed 35 miles on full charge is there something wrong somewhere that can be fixed or enhanced in some way. 26/11/20
  4. My Connect app has been very unreliable at loading on my android 11 phone since I first loaded it in Mid Sept to use with new Superb. Today it only loads sometimes and when it does it fails to load any useful info except for the trip log. I have seen all the options working before so I know something must have changed. I've removed and re-install the app but still no good. Is there anyone at Skoda that i supposed to help with this stuff ??
  5. Just got a new Superb IN L&K, and a CARISTA OBD, done a few adaptions but nothing really much use as the L&K seems to have almost everything useful. HOWEVER - it has shown 14 fault codes most of which are full numeric and do not seem to exist on the internet. What do SKODA dealers think about owners reporting faults at this level of detail, having to tell them how you know. Is there any list of SKODA specific codes which is all the CARISTA is telling me.
  6. I had the same concern. Swaped from 190 DSG sportline 4x4 to the new IV. If you can't do without the great acceleration and strong pulling power always being available then you may well be disappointed. You can get about the same or slightly better acceleration in the IV in sport mode, but that will not be there UNLESS you have battery power to support the petrol engine - so on short trips you're OK anything after the battery is gone will be petrol only. The 1.4 engine still give 150bhp but the IV is a bit heavier so you will not get the same performance, plus you will really start to hear the engine which the TDI will not have. Having had the 4x4 TDI for 15 mths I never got it to go to 4 wheel drive mode (auto / intelligent setup) so no idea about the potential for worse grip in IV.
  7. you can use the skoda connect app to check mpg for every journey - 3 options just like on the dash computer - since start, since fuel, long term. The app gives a little graph / histogram of the trips shows mpg. When all battery used it show 313 mpg - anytime it also uses the engine it will show what percentage was emission free, then takes petrol use into account. This give you all sort of variations from about 40mpg for all engine worked with normal sort mixed driving to 300mpg if virtually no petrol used. Short trips with full charge in normal e mode should always show 300ish mpg. Anything less means that you must have used the engine at some point.
  8. I agree about the fuel saving being better if in non-Sport mode but is does sound like something worth trying especially when it's impossible to get a charge any other way when doing a long journey and stop overs at hotel etc. The thing about the Sport mode re-charging is that it's a "hidden function" - it would better if there was a re-charge mode which gave a you a selectable option to use petrol power to charge the battery which is what I suppose a non-plug-in hybrid is doing most of the time and that seems to give great fuel economy in those cars. I like the idea that you can sort of protect a part of the battery power with a setting for the end of a journey sort of use.
  9. I've seen other posts mention VCDS / OBD11 but I've no idea what it is being new to this forum. I can guess it is some non-Skoda way of changing the software, but how would I get this done.
  10. The battery does get recharge a bit on motorways when going downhill and you're not going so fast the the natural advantage of the down slope is lost. It will vary between, all engine used to keep you up to speed, using virtual no petrol (coasting), charge the battery whilst coasting. As soon as the car slows done a bit the engine will come back in and stop the battery recharge. You can watch it happening on the e-mode display. Worth noting that I tried the SPORT mode option for re-charging the battery and it works for me - soty forces the engine to go into charging battery mode - I guess it';s because SPORT mode force the car to add the battery power to boost performance so when not needed (not accelerating) it tries to keep a good amount of battery in reserve !!!
  11. I've not noted any restriction on the speed being set above the road signed speed. I would like to see an option on settings that allows you to override the auto speed changes based on the road signs since I often choose a speed that suits me, say 45mph, in a 50 zone, and happy to stay with 45mph. However when the car detects a 60pmh sign it automatically speeds up to 60 which I then have to change again back to something slower. I'm not sure but I think I,ve seen the car detect the max speed limit sign, (as used on all road types to notify drivers that you can go at the max speed for the type of road), and it sometimes sets the ACC speed to 70mph, which is wrong for "B" roads (should be 60mph), many of which are not even safe above about 45mph. I think SKODA / VW have failed to do enough research into driving style and National speed signs and have made too many bad assumptions about how the predictive part of cruise control should work. It needs many more tailoring options, starting with an off option for the predictive part.
  12. Part of using the ACC (or the new Predictive ACC) is to aware that it's not perfect, hence the warning from Skoda. It takes time to learn what you can trust or not. When approaching slow moving traffic when you are going quite fast (above 50 mph) I would suggest that you simply set the ACCC to a slower speed in anticipation of stopping, you can easily increase the speed again if the traffic starts going faster. If you check the small speedo icon on the dash display (at the bottom in green when its active) you can see when the car has detected something in front, if it has, then there is no need to change the ACC speed since it already has full control to slow you down. I've notice on 3 different superbs that sometimes the ACC does not start if you going too slow, or you are already too close to the car in front, which creates a risk if you wait too long to slow down by braking with the pedal. I do not believe that the ACC will react to anything that is not moving, so don't expect it to. You should however get the emergency brake warning (red) but by then it may be too late for the car to stop you hitting something.
  13. I'm also unhappy about the physical manual issue, HOWEVER - my new IV (sept 2020) has a physical manual but some things are missing and there are references to the on-line version.
  14. I had an SE Techfrom 2017 and it had the ACC - if you have stalk control to adjust / set the speed, plus the little toggle on top of the stalk it must be ACC. You should be able to see a very small speedometer type icon at the bottom of the display in the middle section as you look through the steering wheel - it should be green, when you get close to a car in front it should change slightly to show a little car stuck on the top of the mini speedometer icon - this means that the ACC has detected a vehicle in front and is controlling the speed. If you dont see the little speedo in green do not expect it to control the speed of your car with the ACC since it's either not fitted or is faulty.
  15. HI MarkyG82. I'm new to using my L&K IV. Done about 700 miles so far in 2 weeks (been on holiday in UK). Charging everyday is fine in good weather and not really a problem but in bad weather it's not pleasant since my 13amp point is on an exterior wall. Now looking to get some sort of cover above where I park (front of house so cannot be too big). Been Ok so far for short trips (less than 60 miles) since I can get good use from the battery without much need for petrol use. Once the battery has gone then just using the petrol on motorway is not so fuel efficient as I would like.
  16. I'm also getting the car telling me its 20mpg when the sign just passed was clearly 30mph. Have you ever seen the display change kmph from mph then back again a short time later during the same trip. This is regular thing for me now. I've also had the sudden slow down in speed but for no obvious reason.
  17. I've just tried the app for starting the a/c and window heater and simply got various error messages when trying it remote. I then tried it a bit latter and the rear window heater switched on - I was hoping that it would be the front screen heater. But it did ask if I wanted to use the battery, however I'm not sure which battery it means - basically seems to be quite unreliable. I also have other problems with the app which my dealer does not seem to understand.
  18. Hi Stephen Thanks for info and especially the photos. I wish I'd thought of that. I have an outside waterproof 13 amp point but nowhere for the cable. Have you had any issues with rain getting into the front of the car where the rain just runs off the bonnet. Have you tried fitting the silly rubber thing that goes on the car end of the plug. I got mine on the plug but found that it stopped the plug fitting into the car socket.
  19. Best to consider a 2nd user IV then - if you need new then the price difference for L&K will still be about £3,000 including the extra car tax over 5 years. 2nd had Ivs are rare by the Oxford Skoda dealer told me today that he has a Sportline Plus - Match 2020, 6,000 miles coming in very soon - priced at about £34k.
  20. I've just swapped from a 4x4 Superb 190 TDI Sportline to a Superb L&K IV (battery plus 1.4 Petrol with 150 BHP - total of 218BHP with battery running). The new Iv will never be a match for any non-hybrid high power diesel or petrol because you can only use the full power of the hybrid whilst there is still battery power left, which will run out on a long journey (anything over 100 miles). The solution might be to Sportline like the one I've just sold - low mileage a year old this car is good value from the right place - mine is up for sale for £22k at my dealer
  21. Hi Appreciate that you have a local supply issue, which I can't resolve, however most dealers will sell you a car remote you just need to be sure what you're buying. If you can consider a diesel superb sportline 190bhp DSG auto I just sold this car (white) to a skoda dealer in Oxford for £19k, and he's got it on sale for £22k. Reg Jan 2019 - done about 13,000 miles ( I was the 2nd owner) - great car - only changed it to go for the brand new IV. I was getting about 40mpg around town and about 55mpg on a longer run. 2nd best car I've ever had. Far better overall package than an Octavia (I had 7 Octavias before going to Superb).
  22. Hi the last 800 mile journey sounds impressive. How many times did you do a full charge ?? Do you use the app to tell you how many mile battery you left / start with. On 100% charge how many miles do you show before driving off. My car is still very new and not many full charges yet - but I'm only showing 29 miles at best before I drive off. I've read that it should get better after more charging - is that your experience
  23. Specing the SEL could be a better option long term - once I found out about the Luxury car tax I tried rejecting the car, and speced out and SEL with just about all the options that I needed, but since last post my dealer has come through with a compensation amount which keeps me happy. The downside to extras on any model is that you do not get back the full value when you come to sell.
  24. I'm having a similar set of problems with my new (sept 2020) Superb, plus a few other little glitches related to Predictive ACC, and road signs. Sent details to my dealer but no update yet. I'm expecting it to be a software fix given how new this version of the car is (2021 IV L&K)
