  1. Kept the control unit. Fibre optic output back all replaced.
  2. Well said Ben, sums things up nicely me thinks.... And the reason you are missing mid-bass in the 'sub' is the same size as the door speakers... all of 6.5inches My new door speakers are bigger than the Canton 'subwoofer'
  3. Fair enough, not sure what other cars you have driven. But I come from older JDM (Subaru Legacy (2004) and Mitsubishi Legnum VR4 (1997) estates) and the Superb is by far the quietest car I have owned. Maybe you need to look at your choice of tyres? Is it excessive road noise?
  4. Hey Ben, We sound very alike in our wants and needs from a car In the 6 months I've had the 280, I've done a Revo Stage 1 on engine and DSG, Koni Special Actives and recently the stereo. But to answer this question, going from the stock set-up to the stock springs with Koni, I would certainly do the same again. Rides so much nicer, doesn't lower the height, so still good for the stupid speed humps and dodgy back roads. Definitely a better drivers car. Again, it's all subjective, but to sort the wallow and bottoming out, certainly fixed it for me.
  5. Agreed, To sum up my thoughts, if you are a car audiophile, the Canton system will let you down. For me, I knew whatever system was in the car was going to be replaced with after market, because I have never heard any stock system or factory upgrade sound or produce the clarity and frequencies that I want. Discussions are all about opening peoples eyes, then let them make their choices.
  6. Not sure what anger you speak of Is all about personal choice and the wants from a car. Some want the newest they can buy, others the quickest, others the loudest. We are all allowed our opinions and choices, just have to ensure we play nice
  7. Couldn't agree more Ben. It's shocking to sell the Canton system as an upgrade, and I certainly wouldn't consider the 'sub' as a sub at all
  8. Front doors and trunk area. Very little rattle or road noise from the car anyway
  9. Nice clean DRC install, if not the easiest to read, but won't be used that often. Back ground colour is a nice red to match the rest of the ambient lighting.
  10. You don't see the door woofers, but can be seen in above picture. A pillar builds look the part and really work.
  11. Amp and DSP install. False floor is fully removable. Again, does need a clean.
  12. Next phase completed... which most people would think is the final phase, but not quite. The build itself is done, but needs to be ran in for a month, then final tuning, RTA(real time alignment) and set to my exact listening requirements. Here's the pics to drool over. Does need some final touches, but that's me being a picky git Love the boot build, especially raising the floor and not loosing any floor space, there will be a grill on the sub to protect it. Also change of sub from original spec, changed to a Hertz MP 250 D2.3 PRO, keeping all the speakers Hertz Mille. Neat touch to hold the half false floor up for access to spare wheel.
  13. Done and more than happy with it. Car does need a good wash and polish. But now I want rid of the Sportline badge.... thoughts?
  14. Ok, that settles it Badges coming off will be the next job. Cheers all.
  15. Yep, that's the idea. Have done it before, just wasn't on my original plan for the car :-)
  16. Very quick 'paint' alteration to see how it would look... am thinking full debadged rear
  17. Thankfully I don't have the L&K badges. Will have a good look at the rear when I get the car back and see. I am presuming that they are just adhesive held and no locating pins.
  18. Thoughts please. Not sure how many 280's there are in Ireland. But have always liked a Sleeper look and the 4x4 badge seems a bit of a give away to me. (Ignore the 19" wheels) So, 4x4 badge will be going. But do I keep the Skoda and Superb ones? Or make a nice clean ass?
  19. Just the one pic to add. Do much prefer a built in sub to those sub boxes that are seen as an alternative. They may have good sound, but not for me.
  20. My warranty was out already. Special Active are the new name for FSD.
  21. I got the nasty surprise on Thursday Am hoping it does, thanks
  22. I have Koni Special Active fitted with standard Sportline springs, no change in ride height, but certainly rides and handles much better
  23. Hey Rich, Yeah am aware, is added cost to the build, but not much point in not using the proper signal at this stage.
  24. Is still a work in progress:
