Gearbox Emergency Mode
Thank you nbramwell and Rafal78 (and some others) for your replies. Having received some answers from the service rep I now intend phoning VW Warranty people tomorrow. I also subscribe to the Which? Legal service who offer advice and help with consumer issues so I'll be booking a call. I will post updates because I do appreciate the advice various members have posted.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
This is the reply I got from one of the service reps at the dealers. They have been very helpful but their hands are tied and the decision is not theirs. The technician found a fault code in the car "P081000 clutch position control error". This fault code related to a TPI (Technical Product Information) which tells the technician to carry out an adjustment of the clutch pack. This is due to the fact that the gearbox detected that the meeting points for the gear changes were out of line and the gearbox goes into emergency mode to protect itself from further damage. The reason for warranty rejecting the claim is due to the fact an adjustment is needed and no replacement is taking place. They state that adjustments are not covered under the warranty T&C's. I still intend contacting VW Warranty so they can tell me directly and I can express my dissatisfaction.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
Thank you Aldfort and Evolution. I'm not giving up yet. I awaiting answers to some questions I've sent to the dealer and then I'm contacting VW with my concerns.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
Further update: The Kamiq went in for investigation on 30th June. Verdict was "requires clutch pack adjustment as TP1 & workshop manual." Inspection report said 'covered under warranty'. However, today 13th July VW Warranty have told me that this will not be covered as it is an adjustment, not a fault being repaired. They will need the car for a week to remove the gearbox and the cost is in the region of £3k. The fact that this same Gearbox warning appeared last Sept and they replaced an oil pressure valve is irrelevant! The service staff at the dealers are being very helpful and I appreciate that it is not their decision. I am going to challenge this. Even if I pay up there's no guarantee that it won't happen again.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
Update: I have been to the dealer and they will have the car in under the extended warranty and we'll go from there. Interestingly, I get the Parkers newsletter. Their journalist had a Kamiq DSG on long term trial and was full of praise for it EXCEPT that it has gone into Gearbox Emergency Mode on several occasions!

Thanks cnc. I've followed your link. Interesting reading and I'm obviously not alone.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
Kamiq 7 speed DSG. Responder was from AA Skoda Assist, but from the VW Group section, and he did plug in a laptop. I'll find out more tomorrow at the dealer. Thanks for replying.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
Thank you to cnc and Aldfort for your replies. I'm contacting the main dealer tomorrow. According to Skoda Assist the odd gears and even gears are controlled by two separate electronic systems, which perhaps explains that after switching off/on it goes back to normal, like rebooting your computer. I was interested to hear if any other owners had experienced this. Apart from this, I really like my Kamiq. I'll report here on progress in due course.

Gearbox Emergency Mode
Last September my Kamiq 1.5 DSG 2020reg (regularly serviced) displayed 'Gearbox in Emergency Mode'. Very near home so able to limp home. Dealer took it in and fixed it under extended warranty. All okay until a month ago when it happened again, this time far from home. Switched off the car, restarted and all back to normal and drove perfectly. Yesterday it happened again and only D2 available. Started car today, no problem, all working, no warning sign. I'll be contacting the dealer again, but has anyone else come across this. Is it just a software glitch? I'm worried that this could happen on the motorway.

Seat belt locking
Yes, it will be remedied when the part eventually arrives. I am avoiding using the passenger seat, though it's the part on the pillar that locks, not the part the belt clicks into.

Seat belt locking
The front passenger seatbelt intermittently locks and won't pull out. Dealer investigated and could find nothing wrong. Service Adviser came out to the car with me before I drove away and selt belt had locked. Sceptical technician came out and he couldn't shift it either so acknowledged that it's not my imagination. New mechanism ordered 5 - 6 weeks ago but still waiting for it to arrive. Has anyone experienced seatbelt locking or have suggestions to the cause and/or remedy? Kamiq SE DSG 2020.

Speed limit warning
Thanks for replying. I think I've found it now in Route Guidance. I'll have to break the speed limit by 10% to find out.

Speed limit warning
Thanks, Seasider. Agree. I would expect it to come under Driver Assist, but I think I've found it under Navigation, Route Guidance, Road Signs. I set it up 3 years ago when I bought the car and should have made a note of how I did it. This all resulted from the Info Centre constantly rebooting and after the dealer had corrected it with a software update a few features were wiped out, including this one.

Speed limit warning
Thank you sussamb and Rooted for responding. Page 57 in my manual is about telephone set up so perhaps we have different versions. Page 51 is about speed limits but I took that to be setting the safe maximum speed of the vehicle. Having scoured the manual there is set up advice on page 93 for setting a warning if you, say, go over 30, but oddly there is no reference to this in the index. I will give that a go. Thanks both for your help.

Speed limit warning
I had set the speed limit warning so that it beeped if I exceeded the speed limit (not that I ever did of course!) However after having a dealer software update it has disappeared and I cannot find any way of resetting it. Any suggestions before I ask the dealer?

Infotainment constantly rebooting
I intended posting an update as people were good enough to offer solutions. Car was booked into main dealer with a few weeks wait as they were short of technicians, and then the day before it was postponed because their server had gone down. I'll repost when it's sorted out. In the meantime I've stuck my reliable old Garmin to the windscreen.

Infotainment constantly rebooting
Thanks, sussamb, I won't try a reset yet as it's booked in under warranty but good to bear in mind for later. Also thanks, skoda1982, that's worth a try also. Having looked further down the forum I see that someone else had flagged up the same issue in Dec 22.

Infotainment constantly rebooting
Has anyone else come across this? The Amundsen infotainment system on my 70plate Kamiq has started switching off and then back on again virtually every 10 minutes. Usually it picks up where it left off, though not always. Very annoying on a long journey, especially when I need the satnav. Fortunately still in warranty. Booked in with dealer, but their server is down so a bit of a wait until they can look at it.

Loss of power
Thought I'd keep you updated as you were good enough to respond. Car was transported to local independant garage that I use regularly. Diagnostic test didn't reveal much. Plugs and coils replaced and it now seems to be fine so fingers crossed. I know of another Rapid that went into limp mode, and a VW that did the same, though I don't know the outcome of those.

Loss of power
Interesting! it had a replacement coil a couple of months back.

Loss of power
1.4 DSG 2013 Petrol Not misfuelled or out of fuel. Seemed to go into limp mode from what she described. Breakdown driver was able to drive it onto breakdown truck but advised against trying to drive home. M42 back to Cheltenham. Car will be transported back next week. Garage will solve the problem, but as a previous Rapid owner I'm interested to know what might be the cause. Thanks for such a prompt response!

Loss of power
My daughter's Rapid DSG suffered complete loss of power on the motorway so car has been towed to garage. Just enough power to limp to emergency layby. Anyone got any suggestions about the possible cause?
-
Cabin pressure
We used to get an effect in our Rapid which caused a mild but annoying throbbing in our ears. Unable to track it down. Have now traded it in for a new 1.5 Kamiq and haven't had any trouble at all. Some theories on the Rapid forum were adjustment of the tailgate, the parcel shelf vibrating, tyres...... Worth having a look at the Rapid owners' forum. Dealer claimed they'd never come across it.

Sat Nav
It took me a while to get used to the Satnav, and what is a bit irritating is the mispronunciation. Lane is Layin, Way is Way-e and Road is wierdly Road-good. Does anyone else find this?

music formats to download to skoda admunsen
Replying to Neil: Argos SanDisk Ultra Dual drive USB 3.1 Type C 32GB £13.99 Cat No. 769/9476 or 64GB Cat No. 784/5251 £22.99 It has Type C one end, which fits the car without needing the adapter, and the older USB on the other end, which plugs into my PC. It's on a sliding mechanism so the unused connection is hidden. Neat little gadget. I copied and pasted itunes to it and it works a treat.
