  1. Thanks AG Falco. I appreciate the additional info. It’ll be interesting to see if I notice a difference in efficiency or performance. 0w20 for the first 6 years of its life.
  2. Yes, I’m agree my type of usage can be problematic. Often parked for a week or so and then a 300-400 mile motorway trip. I use a trickle charger to try to keep the battery conditioned after having a few electrical gremlins the winter before last which I think were caused by the battery running too low. Anyone any experience of the Meyle HD bushes or arms please before I take the plunge?
  3. Thank you. The knowledge on this forum is great. Not many speed humps but rough rural roads locally. However, the majority of the miles are motorway. Don’t know what happened before 8k miles as that was before I had it. I think I will have the garage do it. The guides I’ve seen remove an engine mount bolt and jack the engine to make space to remove a bolt otherwise blocked by the sump. A bit beyond my experience and tool selection. Would love to learn though given the time. Maybe it is low speed. It’s more noticeable when setting off for sure. I’ll have to have another look/listen. Thanks for your opinion on the oil. I’m definitely interested in any further details
  4. What mobile network are you using @chico21 and are you using an Apple or Android phone? I’ve tried with 2 iPhones on the Three network.
  5. Thanks for your considered and detailed reply. We’ve just moved house (and counties!) so finding my feet with a new garage.
  6. I’ve experimented with different phones, different iOS versions, and different cables but issue persists.
  7. I have the same firmware and same issue with mic in phone calls when connected via Apple CarPlay. When connected to the unit via Bluetooth the calls work fine.
  8. Thanks nta16. Fortunately I haven’t had the shock absorber misting advisory yet… but from your experience it sounds as though I should not be surprised if I do. Reading more of other threads on here, sounds like the 0w20 might be something to bring emissions down so I won’t query the oil my new garage has chosen to use and trust that they know better than me!
  9. I’ve been looking in to this a bit more and am thinking of replacing both sides with Meyle HD arms. Has anyone experience of these? Do you think I’ll get more than 35k miles out of them compared to the OE Skoda ones that were an MOT advisory after only 4 years and 26k miles from new?
  10. I’ve had the following MOT advisories in summer 2024 and 2025 at 26k and 31k miles respectively. Suspension arm pin or bush worn but not resulting in excessive movement. (Rear bush starting to debond). Slight knocking at low revs from NSF and over certain bumps. I think this is likely to be the suspension bushes deteriorating further. Do I need to replace the whole arm to repair this issue? Seems quite soon. Car is 2019 and relatively low mileage. How much would this work cost at an independent usually? Do I need to do both sides at the same time or can I just do the near side with the knock? I also noticed that at my last (6th service) Quantum 5w30 oil has been used. My previous garage (we’ve moved) always used 0w20. Any issue running the 1.0 TSI 110 on 5w30?
  11. Thanks both. No wheel trims. Should I get some hub caps for the front or is it fine as is? I don’t like the look of wheel trims - prefer the steels.
  12. Hi again, I’ve just fitted some steel wheels with winter tyres in place of the factory alloys. In the centre bore of the wheels on the rear there’s a solid flat face. On the front it’s the inside of the hub with the spindle nut visible. Is there something missing off the front or is this expected? Thanks, Matty
  13. Is 8755 the latest available firmware for Swimg in Fabia MkIII facelift? Skoda applied 8755 for me way back in late 2020 or early 2021 and no audio stutter since but I’ve been having trouble with CarPlay not using the car microphone during telephone calls. A quick google suggests I’m not alone but I haven’t found a solution yet.
  14. West Yorkshire. Sorted efficiently by D M Keith in Huddersfield.
  15. Work performed under warranty. No charge. Car was new to me last October and still in Skoda warranty as a 19 plate.
  16. Skoda dealer had my car for an hour in November and updated the software to the version shown in Rizzoed’s latest photo. 3 months down the line and I can confirm the issue is resolved. Why this needs a visit to a dealer and not a download and home install is another question...
  17. That sounds like good service @Alibayor88 . Which dealership sorted your car out for you please?
  18. Thanks for the information. That’ll really help me know exactly what I’m asking my dealership to update.
  19. I’m new here and this is my new (to me) Fabia III Monte Carlo 1.0 TSI 110. My previous car was a 2006 Ford Focus Estate 1.8 TDCI that I’d had for 11 years, so quite a change. Really enjoying the little Skoda and it’s the estate model so I can still get my bike in the boot easily. The only fly in the ointment is audio through Apple CarPlay stutters quite badly. If anyone’s experienced this and found a resolution then I’d be interested to learn how this was achieved. Thanks, Matt
  20. I’ve recently bought a 19 plate Fabia Monte Carlo and can also report this frustrating issue. I’ve experimented with 2 different iPhones, and 3 different lightning cables (1 original Apple cable and 2 aftermarket MFI cables). The problem is actually worse on an iPhone 11 with iOS 14.1 than on my iPhone 5S with iOS 12.4.8. I’ve deleted the car from CarPlay on the phone, reset the Smartlink settings to factory on the car head unit, and reestablished the CarPlay connection, all to no avail. I’ve entered my VIN at https://updateportal.skoda-auto.com and it says there’s no software update available for the Swing head unit in my car so I’m really interested to learn more about the software version referred to by @Rizzoed. I’ve contacted the dealer that sold me the car in October to see if they can offer any help. Fingers crossed as they’ve been very good so far resolving another minor issue rather than fobbing me off as is far too common. My software versions match those photographed earlier in the thread so it’d be interesting to know if there’s a later version otherwise CarPlay is practically unusable for audio playback.
