I am not sure if an esim is the issue here as @SwatKat confirmed that there is no esim card slot in his glove box . May be it’s possible for retrofit .

Just been on a call with Skoda customer service and it turns out that the remote access is a factory fitted option and unfortunately cannot be retro fitted. so that sums it all. @daredevis you are spot on!

Possibly. Looks like at the moment the systems with sim functionality (in the glovebox) only, offer the remote access .

That is very weird. I don’t see these features in the app. I have the care Connect plan too, which has come with the vehicle since purchase. So I guess I will have to nip to Skoda dealer and ask him if there is further settings that I have to do. but thank you so much for sharing though. one more thing please . When you put your vin number here - https://availability.skoda-auto.com/004/en-com#/ do you see the remote access ?

@DSL you were absolutely right. However on the iOS, mySkoda app that used to have the same stats that the data plug, is non existent. So until the new app appears on the iOS, I have no way of checking this data other than using the data plug

Just received the vw data plug that I bought off eBay , for a fiver. Can’t believe it’s a genuine one! Dealer price is 40£!!! its working fine, no issues. I can visualise basic data regarding fuel capacity , mileage , battery voltage and time to service and oil change.

We are also missing out on the wireless car play and wireless recharger! Damn!

I expected that. Internet is not the issue here. Unfortunately the Amundsen MIB2 cannot be online even with LTE sim stick or via WiFi hotspot. It’s not designed to be that way.so I guess the only way would be to wait till the PCP finishes and get a new vehicle . sorry about that !

I have installed the new my Skoda app on an Android tab just to get a feel for the new app, as the iOS version is not ready yet. I feel that there is a bug in there as I can’t find any of the previous my Skoda app features. All I see is the same features that I see on my iOS Skoda connect app, which apparently do not have the my Skoda features yet.

As I see we have access to trips , planner, notifications and service partner only, on the new app. so get a data plug. I have deleted my Skoda connect and installed a lite version of connect. Apparently the vw data plug works with Skoda (read few reviews on it on this forum)

Unless you have a pre MY21 car with Columbus system, which has built in sim slot.

so to sum everything up, if you have any models before MY21 in term of connectivity the best you can achieve is to connect a data plug and get some basic info, that is all.

did a quick check of the services available with MY20 skoda models (image1). compared to services available with MY21 models (image 2). no remote access what so ever. this clearly expains why i dont see any of these features in my skoda connect app. only option would be to get rid of skoda connect app and install a skoda connect lite with dataplug. at least that more features.

i dont think its WLAN related as i get internet on my drive way, yet on the app i dont get any vehicle status.

this could turn life threatening with kids on board under scorching heat.
