  1. I had a damp issue with my superb, I emptied the boot, removed the carpets and found water in the spare wheel well ( APTLY NAMED). I finally found the fault was water coming in the metal part of the bootlid, possibly from ill fitting lights. every time i lifted the bootlid water had collected in the lid and poured out into the boot gathering in the well and unable to escape. my solution was to drill a couple of holes in the well at the lowest points, fitting a rubber grommet in the hole, I also noticed predrilled holes in the edge of the boot lid with painted over rubber caps, I removed these. These two measures have helped, no more damp smell and very little water build up any where. not a very technical solution but worked for me
  2. thanks for replies, my present bootlid has previously been repaired and is a mess, paint starting to bubble inplaces and when i clean and polish you can see where it has been straightened . thats the reason i wanted either a very good condition second hand one or a new one. Even if i find a used one unless it is the same colour it will cost a lot to remove paint and prep prior to spraying to match. the extra cost of changing the colour in labour and prep is close to the saving of buying a new one. By asking on the forum I was hoping someone could steer me in the direction of a new bootlid a at a good price that way I am not buying a ten year old one off a scrap car.
  3. skoda main dealer wants £786.00 for a new in primer lid, I would like to have original but is there any company supplying copy parts that might be more affordable.
  4. my skoda superb 2014 hatchback, a facelift model has had a hard life before it came to live with me. apart from numerous dents and scratches, the bootlid has some bad repairs, rust and bubbling paint I would like to replace with a new one but think the main dealer may be too expensive, are there any alternative suppliers of body panels that may be more affordable. the interior , engine and gearbox are excellent so I don't mind investing some money in what may be my last car. any help appreciated,

JR I spoke to VWFS several times I pointed out that I had made payments on a service contract and whilst I was willing to continue to make all the payments due under the plan they were unwilling to provide any of the services that would eventually be paid for. I was not asking for anything not contracted for, I had received no service products from them and they would not transfer the plan to my new car, this would not entail any cost to them greater than the one they had offered as extras needed at service were chargeable and as the cars were near identical no difference in price for a new plan. I asked them to escalate my complaint to the next level and then when they gave me a refusal of refund I could take the complaint to the financial ombudsman. I also asked my local Skoda dealer who had sold me the plan for help, they agreed that I was being treated unfairly and took up my complaint on my behalf with vwfs. prior to receiving their offer of a refund I had" paid for cake yet had not eaten any cake" . There is a term in the contract where it states no refunds or transfers, my warning is that under certain circumstances through no fault of the contract purchaser they cannot utilise the plan and they cannot transfer the plan, as in my case where my car was written off and that prospective purchasers should be aware of this particular drawback. I am not complaining about the eventual outcome of my complaint I am merely warning others not to make the same mistake I made. You state I had the benefit of the plan, this is not true as I received no benefit it is not like insurance or warranty where you have cover for a set period, the service plan is to cover two years servicing and the plan had not been used and never would be used . Skoda admit that their service plan is an effort to maintain customer loyalty for owners of older cars they incentive being Skoda service at a special savings price, by refusing my request in the first instance they were alienating me and creating the opposite to the intended effect. I hope my detailed explanation better defines my reasons for sharing my experience, so others may be warned and that when you complain about unfair treatment and get knocked back you should continue your complaint as often in the end you will succeed.
  6. thank you kodiaq for calling me stupid, you have it in a nutshell, I was stupid to not understand all the implications of having an agreement that favoured VWFS and not me in my particular circumstances. I am also stupid for not knowing I could claim the lost contract payments from the third party insurers. I am also stupid for expecting your support, I shall learn from my mistakes. Merry christmas
  7. I have owned a skoda superb mark 2 170crdti for three years and enjoyed the car immensely. Because it had a good service history and low mileage I decided to use RRG Skoda in Bolton to service my car and I took out a two year service plan, which worked well for me, the dealership were very helpful and I was so satisfied that in August this year I signed up for another two year deal. As a pensioner on a fixed income I started to pay monthly and booked an annual service for December. Disaster struck at the end of November whilst driving on the M60 in Manchester when two cars piled into the back of mine and the insurance wrote off my car. As you would expect I got less than the cost of a replacement for my low mileage FSH, almost perfect car. I decided to buy another superb this time getting the 140 powered version, higher mileage but 2 years younger, still a mark2 but a face lift. I contacted my Skoda dealership to tell them about the change in car, cancel the pre booked service and asked them to transfer my service plan to the new car, no dice!! VW financial services who administer the plan refused to transfer the plan and also refused me a refund of my payments to date, they did say I could transfer the plan to the scrapyard the Insurers had sent my car to. So a warning to anyone before they take out such a plan, if anyone steals your car and you don't get it back or you write off your vehicle VWFS will try and steal your payments. After a great deal of fruitless complaining to VWFS I wrote a review on Trustpilot, within a week VWFS contacted me and offered a refund as a goodwill gesture. Anyone in this situation should try this approach, a victory for the little person up against a very large business
  8. thanks skomaz there is no rear wiper on a superb mark 2 Lee, I will try to video the opening of the boot and all the water dripping out from behind the felt covered interior trim this weekend, then figure out how to post the video thanks for the suggestion
  9. So far 115 people have read this post plus me, but no replies! this means 116 Skoda drivers have no ideas how to solve the problem. Rain is getting in to the double skin boot lid and when the boot is raised it pours out through the fabric covered boot interior trim. any thoughts about drilling holes in the lower edge of the boot lid behind the chrome trim to allow the build up easy exit so when raising boot most of water has already drained??? If I raise the whole hatch as one the water pours out the top of the hatch between window surround and interior boot trim.
  10. Can anyone suggest how to find out where the water gets in to the short boot lid every time it rains, nearly every day lately, I open the boot and water runs towards the top of the boot where the hinges are and gushes out between the lid and the interior trim My car is a mark 2 2014 hatchback
  11. Got a payout for my car and bought another superb Will now spend a few weeks servicing everything and replacing little things like damaged mirror indicator and finding out why the short boot lid collects rainwater which when I open the boot empties out all over the place.

  13. Friday afternoon on M60 near Manchester, caught up in traffic jam when My previously mint condition 2012 superb elegance, auto, 170crdti 2012 hit in the rear. Estimator just shook his head and said he would give estimate to insurers but reckoned over £6000 to replace Entire hatchback, bumper, lights boot floor supporting panels and bumper bar, reversing bar etc. any suggestions to stop them writing off my pride and joy, which still drives perfectly. I am sure I could source second hand bits but need a really good repairer who would be willing to work with used panels. My car has only done 72000 miles with meticulous service history. Looked on Ebay and all over internet and a replacement up to same spec and standard is about £8000 likely the offer from insurers will be a lot less.
  14. Hi two years back I got my 2012 superb and found the ride hard. chose vw Eos 17 inch alloys with 235 45 17 goodyear tyres drove quieter and smoother, more comfortable. you might get some money for your original alloys to offset the cost
  15. I had something similar,drivers door rear wouldnt open from outside but would from inside turned out to be small ecu in door, alternatives could include break in wiring at door hinge.
  16. sounds like a central locking issue, is there anyone in your area with on board diagnostic reader who could help
  17. needle was hovering about 50-70 but that was 2 weeks ago now it doesn't move
  18. have you any more symptoms, does the electric window work does central locking work is it just one door or has anything else stopped
  19. lately the temp has not risen as high as usual on the gauge, just thought it was my short journeys and being parked up most of the time. On Saturday I drove it for about six miles, the heater was working but the needle didn't move, I stopped and looked up the oil temp on the display between the dials all I got was --- Is this the same problem which requires the DSG thermostat replacing?

  22. thanks for your reply. situation now resolved at dealers expense. whilst I think main dealers are very expensive RRG skoda in Bolton Lancashire dealt with my problem in a courteous and prompt manner at their expense. p.s. I lived in Kilbirnie Ayrshire for a few years early on in my career, lovely area of Scotland
  23. Thanks for your input oil filler cap is correctly fitted and no oil on top of engine Oil change was via sump plug If the sump plug is dry it only leaves the plastic filter cap and when it goes back to dealer on wednesday I hope that fixes it. Other than this the car runs like a dream
  24. just had main dealer service and now seeing oil patches under the engine these patches change position depending where i park, due to the undertrays can't see what is leaking. took car back to dealer who diagnosed a leak from pinched rubber seal on underneath of plastic filter housing cap which they replaced foc. Next morning slightly heavier oil patches, dealer will take it in tomorrow to replace the plastic filter housing cap as they think it may be distorted. When i originally took it in for service they gave me a video showing everything dry and said no leaks present! anyone else had this type of problem, have they missed something else?
