Remap vrs diesel octavia 2017
If yours is manual then I'd expect you to do slightly better than me alright. I'm OK with 45mpg or anything above, came from a 32mpg BMW and had used 45mpg in my man-maths prior to purchase so I'm exactly where I expected to be and any better is just a bonus. 😉

Remap vrs diesel octavia 2017
I've no base to compare as my car was already mapped when I bought it, but I've averaged just over 45mpg in the 2k miles I've done since purchase. 40 mile each way daily commute - best has been 51.6mpg, worst 46.2mpg. Those are according to the trip computer. Overall average is due to having fun the first couple of tanks and only getting 42.4mpg 😆

Is mine the only VRS with Pictorius alloys ?
One being broken in Donegal - https://www.donedeal.ie/damagedcars-for-sale/skoda-octavia-vrs-for-parts-breaking/24443473 Have seen a few for sale in the last few months over here, but I'd say I could count them in one hand.

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
Going by the url's they're all 2016 so I'll be on 50mm. Thanks for that. 😊

Think I'll just live with it so, though the RS3 one above is tempting! 😁

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
I think if I eventually go down this route I'll just email Bilstein and ask them directly as I couldn't find anything definitive.

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
Perhaps incorrect, but it was to do with axle weights. The heavier diesel and dsg need the 55mm. A manual TSi would use the 50mm.

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
I spent last night researching the various permutations. I think coilovers are a definite no in my situation. I get what you're saying about similar costs but really couldn't live with an even former ride. 😧 I'm now thinking 55mm Bilstein B8 front & rear with my existing springs. Took me most of the night to find a definitive answer as to what the difference was between 50mm and 55mm 😂 From checking invoices i got with the car i have a feeling its still on its original front shocks. Are these something that could normally be getting tired at 70k miles? Rears have only 7k on them and it's definitely the front I'm finding more bumpy so wondering if this could be part of the issue (and also searching for a justifiable reason to spend near €600 on the shocks 🤓). Final question for now - if i do get the B8's, would i need new top mounts and drop links too?

Replacement/Aftermarket shifter for DSG Gearstick
Odd question, but in keeping with the topic - it's it possible to replace just the button? Noticed the chrome is lifting at the top edge on mine, and since there's no other wear it seems a waste to replace the whole thing if replacing just the button is a possibility.

Heya Iway Car was remapped by previous owner. He got it done by Joe at TDR Performance in Dublin/Kildale. I've seen some of the Irish VRS owners also highly recommending JTK in Waterford too. Never hard anyone reverence KC Systems so can't comment on them. And you're right - can be a very slippy slope 😂

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
Handy to know for the future if I have issues with the handling. For the moment I'm more interested in improving the ride comfort if i can though.

Front AND rear? I've read about people upgrading the rear alright, didn't realise the front was also an issue?

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
I suppose the bolded part is what's most important to this debate really. I bought the car primarily for economy (coming from an older petrol 3-series BMW), reliability, looks, practicality and comfort. I do approximately 400 miles a week just on the work commute alone, mainly national roads with about 25% on crappier regional roads. I don't really throw it about much on the backroads though I still like to make decent progress - there's probably an element of fear of destroying the front splitter if I'm a bit too spirited in there. 95% of the time I'm on my own, the other 5% I'll probably have my wife and dogs on board. I haven't had it for an alignment - if i take my hands off the wheel at 60mph it stays straight, and it hasn't displayed any unexpected characteristics. The same friend with the GTI has the Hunter equipment so I should probably pay him a visit. With the H&R I just find it overly firm - the likes of raised cats eyes can send a jolt through the cabin. Perhaps the Proline Kit is the route to take. I certainly won't be upset if its slightly higher than present. Thanks for the input folks 😊

Suspension dilemma - H&R vs Eibach vs OEM
So I have my car 3 weeks today. When I bought it the seller offered to refit the standard springs or leave the H&R that he'd fitted in his ownership. I figured I'd take it as it was and change down the line if needed (standard springs came with the car in the boot). With 1000 miles under my belt now I'm exploring my options. First of all I love how the car sits on the H&R springs, looks fairly level front and rear though I've not measured it, but given the roads I travel it's a little firmer than I'd like and can bang and crash a bit. I think the front has hit the bump stops twice on two particularly nasty holes. I happened to mention this to a friend and he suggested that instead of going back to standard I should consider the Eibach Sportline springs. He has them in his mk7 Golf GTI and thinks they're a nice compromise, not lowering as much but not nearly as firm either. He's done a few track days with them and had no complaints. So I find myself in a dilemma - do I go back to standard? I've never driven a standard one so I don't know if they're naturally this firm? Do I try the Eibach route? Do I stick with the H&R and change the front shocks to get a more compliant ride (the rear has relatively new gas shocks that are on the car 7k miles)? Anyone have any experience of the various options and able to guide me?

I hear you about the frustration of lockdown - we reentered it just over an hour ago here in Ireland. 5km travel limit except for essential travel 🙄 Fitting was easy once I figured out how to remove the bulb holder. I watched a couple of YouTube videos which said to give it a good wiggle which didn't work for me, so I carefully utilised a flat blade screwdriver just to give a little leverage on the top side while my finger levered from under. One it popped out it was simple. As it was an led I tested before pushing the holder into is home position. Total time (once I figured out how to get the holder out) couldn't have been more than 5 minutes 😎

So, exactly a week since it arrived on our driveway, I've now carried out my very first mod - led park light bulbs to enhance the eyelashes and also tie the front end together well all bulbs a similar light colour. 😁 The bulbs were actually ordered about 4 weeks ago for my other car, but between Christmas and Brexit chaos they only arrived today. 🙄 still, all that really matters is that they arrived, they also fit the Skoda, and they're canbus error free so no coding or dash warning. Yeah, it's only a tiny mod, but gotta start somewhere 😂 Before After And all tied together and matching

Latest Maxton design rear diffuser revision 2
I've the V1 (I think) Maxton splitter, also on a white car with black pack, and was debating about what to do on the rear. I was between the Reiger and the Maxton splitter style (not seen any proper photos of that too make up my mind). This revision is a definite contender now though 😎

Looks a lot more subtle than the other version which is a little in your face. Quite similar to the Reiger offering. Did you go matt or gloss finish? Good to hear there's no fitment issues.

I've never driven a standard one. Closest comparison would probably be a friend's Superb with the 170bhp diesel, and yeah, it's fairly lively compared to that 😁 The Superb was a big factor in deciding to get a Skoda, just found it a bit too big for my needs.

I knew I'd forget some things 🙈 Nothing planned as its already remapped to a safe 217bhp which i failed to include above. It also has the blank fitted to the intake, though I don't know if the airbox has been modified.
