Good luck with the Kuga, I have heard some really good things about this car. Some fault free motoring is the least we can expect after the last few months!

Ive just got my mk III after rejecting my mk iv. The mk iii is superb. Engine, whilst the same 1.5 tsi that was in the mk iv is loads better somehow in the mk iii. Smooth and powerful. Everything works, absolutely everything. It is a delight. The mk iv may look better and have better potential but I absolutely love the 3.5 facelift. Made me realise why I like Skoda in the first place. I pointed out to my dealer that someone at the dealership had driven my car for 8000 miles before I had it. Claimed there never was a problem. I had my mk iv for a single day and had plenty of issues. These ex demo cars are being sold, and still are, by dealers who know there are problems. To me, that is morally wrong and thoroughly out of order.

Good luck to you. I really hope that you get a good one. I have just picked up my mk III 2020. It is lovely. Driven for 40mins with no issues. Everything works! So happy to be back with a Skoda as they should be. Good luck to everyone who is hanging on. In a few years time when all of the issues have been ironed out I may well give the mk iv another go.

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
You need to write to the dealer with a list of faults and explain that you would like to reject. The dealer can then look into this and will either agree or refuse. If it is within the first 30 days l, you are entitled to a full refund (you have to have reported the fault in this time). If aftern30 days you are entitled to a refund minus milage or a replacement vehicle. Key thing is to get the letter stating the issues to the dealer ASAP.

Once you request a figure from the dealership for a buy back, everything will accelerate very quickly!

Good luck to you. I think we all have different things going on in our lives and a car sometimes isn't really too important. I really hope that they fix it soon. I lost my rag after waiting 3 weeks and then nothing and then being told it could be a few months. It should not be taking this long if it had all been tested properly in the first place. It must be costing Skoda a fortune!

After 30 days, you are entitled to a refund, minus use. I would consult Citizens Advice, they in term will quote the 2015 Consumers Act.

If I had to predict, that is how I see it playing out. I paid up front for mine so I didn't have the added complication of VW finance to throw into the mix. I sympathise with the dealerships but your contract IS with them and not Skoda so they do need to sort the problem. They sort it and then bill Skoda. I was tempted to just keep waiting, using the hire car at Skoda's expense, but I have two young kids and I didn't want any damage to come back on me. It was just too stressful waiting and hearing nothing and all the mixed messages. I heard almost nothing from the dealership until a final figure was mentioned and at that point the contact and speed of things went through the roof. Effectively, the dealership wanted their loan car back asap to loan to the customers and I was left high and dry with less than a few hours notice. Whilst I wanted to hold on, I had lost all confidence in the car. I am on Facebook group and asked if anyone there had a car that worked without fault. I had three positives. Since then I have had messages from two to say that they are now experiencing various problems, some serious. For the money spent, it just isn't good enough. I am not massively into cars but enjoy having a nice one, hence the FE. However, it has made me realise that having something reliable is more important than all the toys. Gone back to a Mk III facelift, which I pick up soon. That was a great car. Alright, it looks a little dated now, but they are a really good price, and, learning from this experience, they have had all the major issues ironed out (he says confidently!). I am hoping for some luck now with my car. I think everyone on hear could do with some luck at the moment as Skoda are not offering any compensation for all this inconvenience.

Agreed and again I have been through this. They never offered an SEL with the additions of the FE. Presumably because it would cost them more. The argument between the dealership and Skoda UK is also familiar. The dealerships are obviously annoyed with Skoda as they are selling rubbish products and it is coming back on them. I think the dealership just wanted to wash their hands of me in the end. I just couldn't bring myself to accept another mk iv. As far as I can see, there isn't one that works without fault. Maybe I gave up too quickly but my motoring was being ruined by getting angry every time I got in the car. These things are not cheap! I really admire those of you that are forging on with this, but I feel far less stressed generally now I am out of it. I am following with keen interest as in the future I may revisit but for the meantime, I'm out.

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
To my knowledge, I am the 4th person on here that has completed the rejection and had a refund. How many more are there who have pulled the plug or are going to do so? A quick look on autotrader sees alot of mk 4 FE on sale considering they are only a year old. Should Skoda be selling the rejected cars knowing they are littered with faults? It seems horrendous that sales are going ahead considering dealerships are aware of all the issues. Skoda must be losing big money on this car at the moment. This may well be why calls and news from Kate Laws etc are hard to get.

If you have a FE they can't offer a like for like. I have been through this with them. The FE were specced up so no equivalent exists. Despite this they didn't offer the nearest spec. I wouldn't have a replacement anyway as they can't actually provide a mk IV without problems.

Later Mk4 builds.
Exactly what happened to me. Dealers cannot promise because there a faults all over. I just cut my losses. Be aware that when you get a buy back figure from the dealer, they will want an answer in 2-3 days.

Later Mk4 builds.
For what it is worth, I would not take the plunge yet. I rejected mine and can see that there are problems still all over. I'd give it at least another year. Just my view for whatever its worth. I just test drove the old mk III and everything worked! It may not be as nice and not have all the toys, but it worked!

Bristol st motors Derby Skoda
Had to reject a car. They stuck to the buy back scheme 'by law'. When speaking to the manager he told me he was not giving a full refund because it was not fair that his dealership lost out. In that case, he was far happier to let me lose out through no fault of my own that to keep a loyal customer. Will not buy from there again. The service department also claimed that my car was not 'kangerooing'. When I asked, they had not even driven it, just stuck it on a machine. I will say however, that once I agreed to the buy back, the money was transferred quickly and efficiently. The experience saddened me but I would not say that people should not buy from them.

This is interesting. I rejected mine and took advice from both the motor ombudsman and citizens advice and both told me that I was only entitled to refund minus mileage after 30 days. If this is not the case, I feel sick as I have missed out on nearly £500 on the buy back on my car.

Good luck with whatever you choose to drive next. I am surprised how long the fix has taken to be honest.

Definitely. If they told me a new head unit was going to be fitted, I may have stuck with the car rather than rejecting it. Although, having said that, the kangerooing engine that the dealership said wasn't happening probably would still have made me give it back in the end. I tried a 1.5 mk III dsg yesterday and the power of the engine was off the scale compared to my mk iV. It was smooth with no hesitation and fluttering. I was probably very unlucky with my particular car but the performance was night and day.

I am interested about the software or hardware because I was told that it was DEFINITELY software. That was three weeks ago. I wonder if it is proving so difficult that they are thinking about new head units.

You write a letter to the dealership listing the reasons you want to reject. They will confirm or not if they accept the rejection. If you reject within 30 days you are entitled to a full refund. After that time you are entitled to a refund minus use. This can be between 25 and 45p per mile, depending on the generosity of the dealer.

Skoda facelift DSG - any problems
Hi all, Am looking to buy a facelift 1.5 dsg. Had a test drive and loved it. Really responsive and seemingly pretty quick. Are there any common issues with DSG or model at all. I am steering clear of the manual to avoid any of the 'kangerooing' issues. Any advice is very much appreciated.

New Octavia 1.4 Hybrid Estate.
As someone who has just gone through a rejection, I would advise you don't deal with them. A good dealer is vital if the proverbial hits the fan
