  1. What was the regen cycle like ? ( how many miles / kms between regens )
  2. No problems with the DSG running that torque? ( Or is it a manual? )
  3. I'm running the Ravenol VMP, so it probably won't help you much either.
  4. That's just WOW.. in a bad sense. Have you tried changing the oil brand? Does your car do lots of dpf regens? Mine used to drink up about 1L/1000km when it had the DPF clogged and it was on a different brand of oil. Also, Is there any sign of blue smoke ? Is there any noticeable oil on the plastic shield?
  5. I'm guessing that you can look for the signs written everywhere on the internet (e.g. Blue Smoke on a Cold Start etc. ). But, the only way to really address the issue is to disassemble the engine. The strangest thing is that I don't see any blue smoke coming out of my exhaust, but it's still using up quite a lot of oil. (about 0.50 - 0.65 l /1000km)
  6. Here's a video describing the issue. Even though it's in Romanian, I'm guessing that watching the procedure sheds some light. Cum scapam de CONSUMUL DE ULEI? 🤮🤮🤮 #108 - YouTube (the relevant parts starts at around 15:00 mark)
  7. Bad valve seals can also cause high oil consumption. Keep us updated with what you're finding.
  8. The DPF should definetely be cleaned. That 60% oil residue is just an estimation. Mine works fine now. As for the oil, I have only about 600km on the clock after I've changed the Castrol Edge for Ravenol VMP but so far it's still topped up. The Castrol Edge would get burnt at a rate of, 150ML / 100km !!!!! ( it was probably over-degraded due to the active dpf regens staying on all the time prior to cleaning). A consumption of just 1L per 6/7k km is perfectly fine I'm guessing considering the fact that VAG states that 0.5L / 1000km is 'normal' .
  9. Thanks, I've only just found out that this car uses an indirect system.
  10. Newbie question. I'd like to buy a separate set of wheels for my winter tyres. If I get OEM wheels with tpms sensors installed, also OEM, are these clonable? Or do I have to reprogram the ECU every time I switch the wheels.
  11. This screenshots from the manual. I'm guessing that they wont even try to service your car if the consumption falls into that range.
  12. To be honest, after reading countless topics on oil consumption issues in newer VAG vehicles, I'm starting to think that 1L every 2000-3000 miles is "normal" in these cars. If you read the user manual it states that 0.5L / 1000km is considered normal, even more when the car is new. Also, I think this is even more applicable to engines with higher power output.
  13. I think we can rule out the possibility of coming from the gearbox, since i have the vRS with 6 speed. Also serviced the car, though as in your case the sound was there before. For me i can only hear this sound when driving at about 10-15 km/h.
  14. I'm also intersted if you find anything about that sound.
  15. Yes, the oil ash value has been reset. And honestly, I think it's a total scam and waste of materials to say the DPF should be replaced instead of giving it a chance with cleaning. The guys at the workshop said that I should give it a try with cleaning since it's a really cheap option ( 100£ manwork and 80£ cleaning, in Romania) and only then should I consider replacing it if it doesn't do the trick. But I'm getting decent mileage between regens now in my opinion ( about 50-80 mg soot per km average, depending on the driving style )
  16. The car is not new, but I did have the DPF manually cleaned. Maybe that is the cause?
  17. But I'm talking about a passive regen. Not active ones. I've noticed that when engine is under heavy load, the temperature goes up without any post-injection fuel, and the soot starts going down.
  18. To me it seems that the engine load is the biggest factor, but I might be wrong, that's why I've opened this topic. I've also tried 4th and 5th, keeping a steady 2500 rpm but wouldn't go higher than 330ish deg.
  19. As the title says, is it possible to do an actual passive regen on these engines? I've driven the car at speeds ranging from 100kmh to 190kmh, in different gears and it still wouldn't get hot enough. The only time when it actually goes above 420deg C is when I'm driving uphill and keeping it floored.
  20. What's an average mg/min of soot reading ( shown in vag dpf)?
  21. Regeneration of dpf might be bacuse of the oil ash buildup. The estimation of oil ash quantity you see in VCDS ( or VAG Dpf or any other similar app) , is based on a normal oil consumption. But since these cars seem to use more oil than normal, the DPF atually gets clogged faster. I also had this problem of dpf ALWAYS regening, and I took the car to a local service shop where they took down the DPF and manually cleaned it, and the issue seems to be solved so far ( Only driven 160km , but no regen yet ). So, regarding the DPF regen, this might be your problem too. My DPF showed a value of 66% ash load ( about 58 grams ) even though it was actually clogged. Also, what kind of oil are you using? I've heard that Castrol is quite bad ( at least in Eastern Europe )
  22. So, update on the situation. I had my DPF manually cleaned and that seemed to solve to issue so far ( hadn't driven the car only about 100km). The soot mass measured doesn't go up anymore, and I've even had a passive regen for the first time ( yay). In about 50km the soot mass calculated only went up by about 2g. The people that cleaned the DPF said that it looks like there were a lot of interrupted regens from the previous owner by the looks of it and that's what it caused it to clog.
  23. Did the valve seal rings replacement fix the oil consumption?
  24. Any news on the oil consumption? Mine's also slurping about 1L / 2000km (mostly highway drive) with Castrol. I'm thinking of using RAVENOL VMP USVO SAE 5W-30 next.
  25. Engine off. Engine on idle And sometimes it's even higher on idle. Does this indicate a clogged filter that can't properly regen? The thing that grinds me is that it will always stay on active regen, even on highway. I've had close to 0 soot mass calculated, and the soot mass measured wouldn't drop. And I'm guessing it was obvious that there wasn't any combustion in the DPF since the Input Gas Temp. was at around 600+ and the output temp was in the low 500's. What could actually be causing this high pressure? The ash? Should I just get the dpf manually cleaned? And why is the mass measured rising so fast, since yours was negative even at around 8hpa ? (for example 9g to 24g in a few min and the calculated one barely moves). The engine is very responsive, doesn't feel like one with a clogged dpf.
