Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
Sorry to hear that there are till ongoing issues with the Mk4 for many of you. I went back to Ford - a Focus Active X Estate. Since the end of June, with now 3000 miles done on it it's been a pleasure to drive and own! Granted it's not as nice inside and I have a slightly creaky pano roof, but touch wood, everything works and many of the annoying habits of the Mk4 aren't there (in particular turning of the lane assist and it stays off and ACC works incredibly well plus the option of having standard CC and intelligent CC). Good luck everyone in getting it resolved!

Reject! Without a second thought!

Is any Octavia MK4 without fault?
My dealer managed to fit a towbar on a non towbar prepped vehicle for 750. This was for a detachable swan neck by witter. There were no issues with regards electricals. The issue being mine was not rated on the vin plate with the GTW showing 0. They should never had fitted it. On a towbar prepped VRS diesel, they were going to fit a Skoda electrically retractable one for 950 pounds. Problem was they couldn’t get some of the parts and they were on back order from the supplier and had been since February. So 2.5k sounds rather steep. Even the other cheaper prices are eye watering for a towbar! But as you say, you’re sorted now on another car!

What a total pile of BS. It’s either negligent, incompetence or downright dishonesty! Sorry to hear about the issues you’re having, it’s such a shame!

I’m impressed that Skoda have been able to suggest that for 2.5k they can get you a towbar. As far as I was aware you can’t change the VIN plate so would technically remain unapproved for towing!

Potential new Octavia SEL iV owner but concerned
I was given a brand new ford Kuga as a hire car by Skoda UK whilst mine went in for the mph/kmh fix as well as other issues. It grew on me and in 3500 miles of driving it was quieter on the motorway and everything worked and not a single error message or freezing of the system. It was a bit of an own goal by Skoda as I finally got fed up and rejected the car and bought a focus active x estate. Whilst It doesn’t feel as classy inside, it all works with no errors, it has buttons for climate control and it remembers settings so no pre drive checks. And the cup holders fit my insulated cups! I think Skoda have made a really nice car mechanically, but spoiled it with poor software behind the infotainment system. Maybe in two years time I’ll see if they’ve fixed the issues, but until such time I’ll stick with the Ford. Good luck everyone.

Ask Skoda to pay for a journey to have warranty work done?
Completely off topic, We had a greyhound until 6 weeks ago, before she sadly passed away. Love them to bits so volunteering at the greyhound trust till we’re ready to get another one. The Octavia was bought as it was perfect for her. Good to hear that a greyhound fits in an iV with a slightly smaller boot!

Really pleased for you @Nosnehm . I still have the hire Kuga I was given by Skoda in early April and it’s been very good (apart from what appears to be a parking brake failure resulting in it rolling into my garage wall this week….ouch). Will take possession of a Ford Focus Active X Estate tomorrow and dearly hope for a return to software glitch free motoring.

I have a set of atera bars for sale for a MK4 as I have now fully rejected the octavia and bought another make. Private message if you’d like details or interested as I’ve not got round to putting an advert in. They’re brand new and unused!

3rd Software Update done! Fixed
The reviewers tend to gloss over these issues as minor software glitches. I’ve seen video reviews where they experience the faults and just ignore them. They don’t live with the vehicle and it’s not really in their remit or interest to highlight these niggles it would seem.

Thanks @Jim2015. There's a specific software fix for an issue with earlier models around the mph/kmh switching on the speedo and Sat Nav. There are a few us waiting for this fix and Skoda taking our cars back in for weeks/months whilst they resolved the issue. It was supposed to be this week.

Anyone had a the update done? I believe it was due this week.

How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
So final update from me. Having rejected my initial MK4 successfully and accepting a VRS diesel as a replacement (albeit with a considerable increase in cost), I cancelled that today with a full refund. The supplying dealer could not get the towbar fitted as there are parts not in stock with Skoda at the minute for the integrated, folding towbar. So after 5 weeks of waiting, I just got fed up. Good luck everyone with getting the cars resolved. Sorry to say my experience with VAG technology has not been great.

I spoke to Kate Laws today and was informed the fix is scheduled for next weekly, hopefully.

The good, the (not so) bad and definitely not ugly Octavia iV Estate
I would love to have bought an iV but sadly there are none available in stock that have a tow bar or even tow bar preparation and current waiting times don’t fit our plans for a new one. Maybe later when there is more stock.

Free Mk4 Boot Cover - TOFTT
Hi all, Checking the Titan covers website for a boot cover, please see this for the Mk4. It's too far for me, but if someone closer would like to. Anybody with a VRS estate would help me immensely Product Description *** FREE BOOT LINER *** Unfortunately we do not have the pattern for this vehicle. However maybe you can help our design team and in return you will receive a free fully tailored boot liner complete with a Bumper Flap and Split Seat. You will also be given the option to choose an Extender and the colour of your choice. To develop a new pattern for your vehicle you will be required to make two visits to our factory. The first visit will be for our design team to take the relevant measurements directly from your vehicle so that we can transfer this data to our CAD software and produce a pattern for your vehicle. The second visit which will be a minimum of one week later will be for us to fit the liner into your vehicle and take promotional images. After the second visit you will then drive off with your brand new liner. We estimate each visit to be approximately 1 - 2 hours depending on the vehicle. Whilst at our premises you will be able to wait in our comfortable reception area where the tea and coffee is always flowing. Dogs are always more than welcome at Titan so if you do not want to leave them at home please feel free to bring them along with you. Our factory is based in Hinckley, Leicestershire. We are just off Junction 1 of the M69 and are very easy to get to. Octavia IV Lane assist How to turn it off
The hire ford Kuga I have at the moment is exactly the same and it defaults to on every time I restart the car. The difference is a single button on the end of the indicator stalk that turns it off in one click.

VRs Seat Comfort?
I’ve been offered a VRs as a replacement for my 1.5 SEL first edition. I noted the seats are dramatically different both in terms of material and also they are not electric. I’ve sat in MK 3 VRs which look similar, but I was disappointed to see they had very limited adjustability, with no tilt. Is this true of the MK 4 VRs seats? Are they really that limited in adjustment. I appreciate its subjective but how do the compare in terms of comfort? Most of my driving will be long motorway journeys so wanting good comfort.

Can virtual pedal be added after market?
My replacement octavia has the powered tailgate but not the virtual pedal. As I find this a handy feature I was wondering if this can be added post market? Thanks.

Reversing camera retro fit?
I’ve just had a quote from my dealer, using a third party of £660 fitted including VAT. I’ve asked for details of the model that is to be fitted. I’ll share once I have these. This is for the VRS model.

Departure Warning Deactivated?
I’m sure you are, but please make sure you inform your dealers of these issues and in writing as soon as possible. Cars coming off the production line still have inherent software issues. Unless displeasure is articulated to the dealers and then to Skoda UK nothing will be done to sort these issues out. Also, it will help you in the case that these frustrations turn into something more serious and you consider rejecting your vehicle.
-
How many have rejected or are in the process of rejecting?
New or old you still have rights with respect to being of satisfactory quality.. So I believe you’ll have 30 days to reject based upon your issues. In particular the mph/kmh is a legal requirement. After the 30 days you have 6 months but there is reduction based upon fair consideration of use, usually a pence per mile. That said, the 30 days is paused until such time as the issue is corrected. I was like you, paid cash but that made no difference to the situation and legal rights.

SW version on reporting bugs
Thanks...I see you posted a while ago showing the same as the one I posted. This is from the replacement car that has been offered to me and it worries me. I've asked Skoda UK to tell me why and do they know if this version has shown to have problems. This car was built in November 2020. Have you had a smooth experience or have you had infotainment issues?
